Amazing Spider-Man: The Death of Gwen Stacy

I have the originals of these :)

New X-Men Vol. 1: E is for Extinction
New X-Men Vol. 4: Riot at Xaviers
New X-Men Vol. 5: Assult on Weapon Plus

Pick up the rest of morrison's run, the whole thing is better as a whole than with individual arcs

X-Treme X-Men Vol. 4: Mecanix

So tell me, what'd you think of shola in this book? I absolutely loved him but no one else really says anything about him. I picked him up in the DTL :)

Definatley do. He's one of those characters that just blew my socks off but thought was doomed to X-Limbo after the limited series ended. I am extatic that he's now a mainstray in Excalibur. I think he's going to be very interesting in the future.

It might take me a while. I got two more tpbs today. Formely Known as the Justice League and Daredevil: Yellow.

I've always been curious about Daredevil: Yellow, let me know how it is. I loved Spiderman: Blue but that's the only one of those that I've read.

If you like Spider-Man: Blue, I have to recomend Batman: The Long Halloween and Dark Victory. The best comic book mysteries you will ever read.

Cool, I'll have to check them out. (Won't be soon as I'm broke). Are they single issues of a certain title or a Oneshot or what? (I don't buy Trades if I can help it, I just have a thing with wanting the original prints)

It's a maxi series (13-issue mini). The trades are 20 buck each. And here is the wizard price guide of the issues:

TLH #1: $10
TLH #2-4: $8
TLH #5-7: $5.50
TLH #8-10: $5
TLH #11-12: $4.50
TLH #13: $6

Dark Victory is pretty much the same but in the tpb you get an exclusive issue 0

Well, I'm not a DC Fan so maybe I can handel that being in TPB,... We'll see. They have the Trade at the Book store in the mall I work at so maybe I'll just read a little everyday while on break :)

Let's get back on task:

What is your current favorite X-Book and Why?
What is your current favorite X-Team and Why?

Favorite Book: District X- Astonishing is great, but this book is really fresh for the X-World, good portrayal of Bishop and cool concept.

Favorite Creative Team: Whedon/Cassady- The characterization's of the team and the designs are awesome, the book is hurt by the fact that every other Xteam book sucks. Plus, Cassady's almost cinematic art and Whedon's cinematic style go well together, it's a very enjoyable comic.

Favorite Book - Its a mini but Madrox is my favorite book at the moment. Multiple Man is one of my favorite characters and Peter David is a great writer so i think this book is amazing.

Favorite Team - I like Uncannys team. Rachel is my favorite character and the team works well together but i will pick X-Mens team as my favorite as i like everyone on that team a lot.

It's really difficult for me to pick fav's at the moment as I like it all. I will agree that Madrox is just dang good. I love how they are portraying him with this whole detective thing and the sending dupes out to learn things for him and then reabsorbing them. It's just awsome.

As far as ongoings go though I can't decide. Astoninshing is just Astonishing. Uncanny is good and feels that it is building to something, same with Excalibur. X-Men was good under Austen (imagine that) but it always felt like it was missing something in the threats department, the villians never felt accurate or detatched. But I loved his portrayal of most of the X-Men, save Iceman. I loved his scene when Northstar was fighting I think Black Tom telling about the cook he just killed. That was awsome.

But as for the book I look forward to the most I'll have to be an odd ball and say New X-Men: Academy X. I don't know why but I just always have a soft spot for the student books. I love the known cast in Emma, Scott, Moonstar, Karma, and Wolfesbane and I'm growing to really like the New Mutants and the Hellions. I can see this becoming a really good book.

And the character I think is just great right now.... Ishmael Ortega from District X. Now as a normal human supporting character this guy really draws my attention. He's very likeable but you can see his anger and such pooring out of him. I think my favorate scene/line was at the end of I think issue 2 when his wife (a mutant) falls asleep in bed and a shell forms around her. He's like "I just want to hold you when you sleep" He loves his wife but can't seem to connect to her and it causes a lot of stress on his life and such. He's a very in depth character and I think it'll only get better. Props to the writer (Hines? or is that the artist) for creating what in my opinion is a great supporting character.

The X-Men have something that a lot of other comics don't, a fanbase, not to the books but to the characters themselves. There's a lot of readers (myself included) who will continue to pick up crappy stuff just to keep up with their characters they like. While I like Uncanny currently I can see why people these days would complain. Chris writes like he use to, slow progression toward a great story overall. People these days want instant gratification or it "sucks." Heck, the overall Phoenix storyline was long and drug out but everyone raves about how it was the best one out there but it took around 101 thru 139 to tell the full story of the Phoenix if I'm not mistaken. Nowadays people would read maybe the first 6 issues and then claim that it needs wrapped up and drop it because it went on too long.

as to favorite team, i'd go with uncanny, I like most of the characters on that team besides sage really don't like her.

I like Sage but I wish they'd get past the dark and quiet figure and start playing her up and give her depth. They have great potential with it with her past but for the most part she's boring. And they need to specify her powers.

i'm impressed. I'm nowhere near that amount, though I have some issues that you have and some that you don't. but i'm working on it. it sucks cuz i'm the only person, let alone female that I know that collects, so ppl who've seen my collection think they're my nephews. Sad I know.

i wish they'd give emma depth. that whole evil/good thing is kinda annoying. She's been 'good' for a while now, at least show her doing something good. I like her one-liners and remarks to ppl (especially the namor line in the xm/ff thing out now), but can't she act a little human (for lack of a better word) every once in a while.

she can still be emma, but she's nicer to the students, but still the same around the adults. no wonder no one trusts her lol. I don't even think Scott trusts her, I think he's just with her to keep an eye on her.

but on the subject, can someone give me some info on the stepfood cuckoos? I know there were 5 and i think 2 died, but other than that, I'm clueless. I was out of the loop in the comics world for a while, and I'm trying to get back into things.

Sadly, I just read the Here Comes Tomorrow arc for the first time yesterday. in its completion. After 150, I kinda had to go on a comics hiatus.

I loved that arc. I think Rover and Tom Skylark were awsome! I wish they could stick around but I knew they wouldn't

yeah i liked the arc too. I thought silvestri's beast looked awesome. the end of the last issue of it kinda confused me though. Like the white hot room and all the phoenix's and stuff. That kinda had me confused. and i think I understoof the ending, but if anyone has a good description/ summary it would definitely help.

I was a bit lost with all the PHoenix stuff myself but the basic Idea is that Jean "sacreficed" her self and before she left she nudged Scott in the past when he left the school to be with Emma and keep the school going in order to prevent the future that was Here Comes Tommarrow. I think the White Hot Room is technically where the PHoenix goes between returning but I'm not sure. What confused me is that Kid Omega from Riot At Xavier's is there. He's the one that told Jean that he would just let them die (or something like that)

Professor Pejo to the rescue!

The White Hot Room is the "hospital" of the afterlife, located in M'Kraan city. It was also used in Classic X-Men 42, where Death and Phoenix meet for the first time, as well as being used in X-Men Forever 2, where Death and Phoenix meet for the first time for the second time (it makes more sense if you read the series). It was implied that when we die, we all go the White Hot Room and meet ourselves as we exist free from mortality. Since Quentin Quire is an Omega mutant of the psionic class, it can be argued that he is in the same boat with Jean and that their Omega potential makes them both one with the Phoenix. There is also the conjecture that every universe has a Phoenix designated to it, and for ever universe where Jean Grey exists, there are millions more where she never came to be, and for each of those realities, there is a different Phoenix, so the Quentin we met in the White Hot Room might not be the same Quentin we knew during Riot at Xavier's, only he is, because every variant reality version of oursleves exists in a single form in the White Hot Room. But it was important to note that Jean was like the head honcho Phoenix; the "chief of staff" if you will. When she held the universe and willed it to live, all the others crowded around her in awe and wonderment, because they can't exactly do those types of things. Jean was seen as the center of all creation. Perhaps we'll get a little more about Quentin and how he factors into these things with Endsong, since one of the Cuckoos says she can still hear him and there is that mysterious face just free floating in Beast's lab.

Hmm, I actually understood that. Cool. It's been so long since I read X-Men Forever I'll have to go back and reread that. And I never thought about Quentin being the flowting face and all that. Do you think he was the one talking to Carter in the car at the end of Austen's run?

I thought X-Men Forever was a fun little miniseries. I never read the whole thing, but I liked how they were being flung through time. I think my favorite element of that story was when one of them were in a past form and wondered why they never remembered doing whatever it was they were doing at the time and then realized that they wouldn't remember it because they were doing it for the very first time, even though it was in the past. I thought that was a neat plot point.

I thought at first the Phoenix was recreating Jean from a DNA sample in Beast's lab in the Endsong previews, but given the spoilers I've read, I know that isn't true, so I'm thinking, coupled with the Cuckoos comment, it's probably him. It seems to make sense that way to me. And, you know, I've not read Austen's final issue, so I can't really comment, but if Quentin's psionic echo is still lurking around the mansion, then it's highly possible it could have been him. Of course, who knows if that will ever be picked up or followed now that the original writer is gone. QQ might also be the one Emma was speaking to at the end of Astonishing 6, tho I don't know if that is really plausible.
