I see the margin between the theatrical cut and Rogue Cut is getting smaller (not a whole lot mind you).

Rogue Cut. It has its pros and cons. The only scene that didn't add anything for me was when Hank asked Logan if he survived in the future.

I liked how Rogue told Kitty about Bobby's death. It touched on the romantic subplot from X3 and made the ending and Rogue's appearance better.

I did feel sympathetic to Kitty though. I wanted to see her in the new timeline.

Odd that Nixon dropped an f-bomb.

Like how they showed Charles' vision travel across the lawn in First Class when he was spying on Emma Frost.

Maybe? But less crude. It looked amateurish in FC.

The theatrical cut is better, just a lot more streamlined and gets the story done in a more concise manner.

With the Rogue Cut, instead of just going from point A to point B, they go from A, hop over B, go to C then come back to B - it's just unnecessary. Why do something in two steps when you can get it done in one.

It was neat to see the Rogue scenes, but I liked the theatrical cut better. The sequence didn’t make any difference to the outcome of the story, other than shoe-horning in something for Rogue to do. It just seemed awkward and messed up the pacing.

I actually liked Hugh's, "I'm the Wolverine". The timing of the film coming a year after The Wolverine sorta made it feel like the development of that film translated over in the years leading up to 2023.

Plus I like it when the characters refer to themselves by their codenames.

I like the transitions between past/future. The editing was really well done. Like the Rogue rescue itself cutting back and forth with Erik's retrieval of his helmet. Props to Ottman for that.

Bingo. That's exactly why it got cut - it changes absolutely nothing nor really adds anything of value to the overall movie.

It's a fun little add-on for fans, that's about it.

Agreed

Agreed. I love the little bits added throughout the film, but felt the Mystique/Beast scenes and her sabotaging Cerebro (again) really slowed the pace down.

I loved the Rogue scenes and glad they've seen the light of day...but at the end of the day, the theatrical cut is a much tighter film. It's more streamlined, but it doesn't feel gutted.

Yeah, it's really cool they put this out for fans. But it really didn't improve on it and I understand why it was cut.

I really like that Fox has been putting out extended editions, and that they have more then what a majority of other unrated or extended cuts have. The Wolverine Extended edition was awesome cause there was some things that just wouldn't be allowed in the PG-13 cut. Here I thought these scenes could have been on the first disc as supplement material. But again, its cool they put forth the work to tie it in.

I do think the theatrical cut is more of a tighter and put together cut but I do prefer the Rogue Cut. This is because I'm a big fan and enjoy all the little added details and extra character development from the future mutants they needed and deserved. Also Rogue! I really love her aswell. Bobby also gets a much bigger role with much more lines.

So i don't care about pacing and stuff as much because i love to watch these movies and spend time with the XMen.

Brilliant! All the extra touches were perfect, there are one or two things I'd change including have blink save magneto but all good. Anna earns her spot on the old billinf at last

Oh and good to see prof x get a little action with the plane! Very cool

Theatrical cut.

I get that for people who love the original trilogy (I certainly have fond memories of the first two), it's great seeing these characters again. But as much as I enjoyed seeing those scenes as a fan, I think it grinds the pacing to a complete stop when it should be gearing up for the third act. And as a fan of Anna Paquin's Rogue, I was still frustrated at how redundant she felt as an extra Kitty Pryde. She really didn't add much else to the film.

I would have been more satisfied if Rogue was part of the team and had "conclusions" to her relationships with Logan and Magneto, as they were far more important to her character arc than Bobby or Kitty (IMO).

As it stands, I like seeing Rogue again, and the action scenes involved in rescuing her. I also liked Nixon being even more paranoid and foulmouthed, but honestly the only scene that felt like a nice addition to the actual story being told in DOFP is the Beast/Mystique scene. It fleshes both characters out nicely (no pun intended) and gives each actor more to do. I imagine it is not as well received around here since it has little to do with the OC.

I appreciate the Rogue Cut and am happy to now own it. But the pacing changes hurt it, and little things like changes to Xavier's dialogue with his younger self, or not having Ellen Page's beautifully heartbreaking reactions to imminent Sentinel demise all felt a little inferior.

But I am glad fans can pick now which is their favorite in the future.

I finally saw the Rogue Cut and I liked it a little more than the theatrical version.

I liked all the future scenes with the new mutants and Bishop, the little altar that they have with photos of the fallen comrades, rescuing Rogue scenes parallel to past Magneto retrieving his helmet and Prof. X piloting the jet. I also enjoyed Hank's additional scenes but I did feel that the scene with Mystique destroying the cerebro was unnecessary.

I do agree though that the theatrical cut was better paced and was more concise. I also liked Iceman's death in the theatrical version as well as Blink saving Magneto than Kitty.

As a fan of film, I would have to say the Theatrical Cut is better.

But as a diehard X-Men fan, the Rogue Cut all the way. I was a little hesitant upon first viewing, but this is the version I will be watching for now on.:xmen::xmen::xmen:

The one thing I really loved was during the Rogue rescue scene, how they transitioned/contrasted the mansion and lower levels from 1973/to the future. Wish they would've done something like that in the theatrical cut.

I liked the Rogue cut better, because I liked the extra added Future Scenes and dialogue. Although the theatrical cut makes the most sense in terms of pacing, but I think the Rogue cut is the version for the x-men movie fans and a bit more complete. We got to see more dialogue from the future mutants, more of the Beast/Mystique stuff, Iceman/Kitty continuation from X3, we know now that the sentinels got their powers from both Mystique and Rogue and how they were able to locate them in the temple. Rogue I felt was able to finally trust Magneto after their relationship in X1 and X2, and Rogue was able to help Logan out which was good to see ever since he helped her in x1.

Rogue Cut, of course.

I thought the story ran more organically. And I loved the symmetry of the Rogue rescue act with both Magnetos doing their thing.

It always bugged me how limited McKellan's role in the Theatrical Cut was.

he has a line that makes me tear up. it's that handshake right at the end.

"All those years wasted fighting each other Charles; to have a precious few of them back..."

I prefer the rogue cut minus the mystique at mansion scenes...

Theatrical. The Rogue Cut was great and all, but most of what was cut I think had good reason to be cut. The theatrical is more concise and has better pacing.
