The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon

I've always been a fan of Jay because, even though he wasn't as edgy as some wanted him to be, was funny and fair in hitting those in the news. He was the perfect guy to tap into Middle America and not skew too far one way to turn viewers off by resorting to only appealing to those on the East and West Coast.

It was crazy to see Jay Leno that close to sobbing. I don't think he's ever came close to doing that before. Regardless of how anyone may feel about the man, at least he kept it classy when he left.

I'll have to watch that. I don't remember what he said before, when Conan took over. This time though he doesn't have his own show to fall back on which I think is why he's more emotional about it.

I like that he showed emotion tonight, despite the fact that he's only moving down the hall.

I watched his 2014 exit and he was really holding back those tears. He didn't seem nearly so broken up in his 2009 exit.

Leno should get a job doing racing commentary or host a show about cars on cable or something. He'd enjoy that I bet.

He said in an interview on Access Hollywood that this time around he was asked instead of being forced to leave.

Well he knew he would still be hosting a talk show in September, just 3 months off the air, where now its up in the air what he'll do next.

He hosts an Emmy Award-winning webshow where he talks about cars and other automotive topics but I'm not sure if racing commentary would be something he'd enjoy. He'll continue doing the comedy club circuit so he'll continue raking in lots of money.

He's a pretty good drummer.

And he's hilarious so he'll be a great addition to Seth's show.

One of the best things about Fallon's show was how he incorporated The Roots into various sketches and bits. I know that's something he'll continue to do on the Tonight Show.

Well, I'll be watching The Tonight Show and skipping Late Night now. It was the reverse for years.

I'm curious to see what Seth's monologues are like. Often they're the most painful part of the show, but of all the current talkshow hosts, Seth is the best at current event jokes, so we'll see.

I'm just not a Seth Meyers fan. He doesn't do anything for me.

I'm gonna give Seth a chance. I really did like him on Weekend Update, so I think he could do a good job on Late Night, at least with the monologues, so I'll give him a few episodes to win me over completely.

It's really gonna boil down to how he sets himself apart from Jimmy. My biggest fear is that he'll come off too similar in terms of style, really defeating the purpose of his show IMO.

What made the Jimmy/Jay combo so good was that they contrasted well. Different but still entertaining in their own way.

The problem will be they're too close together in the same building.

I REALLY expect a battle of the bands between Armisen and The Roots as a skit

I'm gonna watch both to begin with, primarily out of curiosity, but I have a feeling I'll probably be sticking with Jimmy for the most part. Seth's never done anything for me, but then, I wasn't really a fan of Jimmy in his SNL days either, so Seth could still surprise me.

That's true. Maybe Seth just needs the right platform to show his potential.

Jimmy has had good guests during his late Night run. Will Smith was a previous late night guest.

Mo 2/17: Will Smith, U2
Tu 2/18: Jerry Seinfeld, Kristen Wiig, Lady Gaga
We 2/19: Bradley Cooper, Tim McGraw
Th 2/20: Michelle Obama, Will Ferrell, Arcade Fire
Fr 2/21: Justin Timberlake

Mo 2/24: Reese Witherspoon, Fred Armisen, Rick Ross
Tu 2/25: Paul Rudd, Shaquille O'Neal
We 2/26: Drew Barrymore, Adam Sandler, Dierks Bentley
Th 2/27: Denzel Washington
Fr 2/28: Cameron Diaz, Mike Tyson

He's done Sandler and Seinfeld before, in front of them both.

Fallon does good impressions and funny skits, but his interviewing is just terrible. He looks and acts like a fawning fanboy over just about every guest, which gets a tad annoying over time. If he could fix that, he'd be a good talk show host.
