The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon

It's more of a syndication deal with CBS Television Distribution.
Still wish he would have been considered for a late night show on one of the big networks before signing a syndication show deal.

I know he has a deal with CBS for a late night show (although I don't see a good spot for him with Letterman and Ferguson on still), but I always wondered why NBC didn't attempt to get Arsenio Hall.
Speaking of Arsenio, after he won the Celebrity Apprentice wasn't he going to start up a talk show? what's up wit dat?

This would make me angry if the Tonight Show actually meant something anymore. It's a product of the twentieth century it don't matter how hip NBC thinks Fallon is he ain't gonna save the network.

And comparing him to Carson is like comparing Gary Busey to Einstein.

Lorne will always say good things about SNL alums that he still has business interests with, even if he knows he's drastically exaggerating their skills/talent.

It comes out on syndication in the fall.
Which means nobody will watch it since everybody else will be watching The Walking Dead, Strorage Wars, Pawn Stars, Kim & Khloe Take Miami and of course Honey Boo Boo.

There is no doubt that Letterman will have something to say tonight.

Still don't see why almost every late night show is going to be in NY when most stars actually live in LA. Makes sense to have the shows split the coasts instead of likely having both shows now in the same building, separated only by a few floors. Also, why does Lorne Michaels have to be involved with everything at NBC? SNL has dramatically gone downhill in the last decade and now he gets to oversee another flagship show. Never been a big fan of his.

I like Jimmy Fallon, I think he's done an awesome job at Late Night, but I think he will get disappointing results at the Tonight Show for a number of different reasons.

I think his weakest part is his interviewing skills. He tends to fawn over everyone and doesn't really ask any tough questions. Jay and Dave can do serious interviews when it's needed; Jimmy hasn't shown that ability yet. Can't say I'm going to like Seth Myers in the 12:35 since he just seems so pretentious and condescending at times.

The show moving back to New York will make it harder for Leno to get the show back if Fallon fails.

Jimmy Kimmel tweeted about this news:

“congratulations to my dear, sweet @jimmyfallon — a formidable rival and an incredible lover.”

That's why Conan should have moved the Tonight Show to Cincinatti when he had the chance.

Jay Leno's jokes perfectly embodied the standup-hungry times when he took over "The Tonight Show" in 1992, as Richard Lawson points out. Conan O'Brien's oddball shtick, however, was out of place when his turn came in 2009. But, adds Lawson, "as far as 'Tonight' is concerned, Fallon feels like the guy for today. So what if he's a terrible interviewer? Jay wasn't much of one either."

I love Conan's oddball style. The guy is funny as hell but I guess his humor didn't fit The Tonight Show. I fail to see how Fallen will be more successful because he's just as much a niche comic as Conan is.
