The Dark Knight The weapon of choice - The Joker and his knives

And maybe Batman has the Joker pinned down at some point and the Joker just makes some quick move and gets to cut Batman. That would be off the chain as well.

yea those would be cool. i don't want the knives to be over used or used in an over the top fashion.

I want the Joker to be able to fight Batman, but not to be too much of a physical threat. I like him using guns and knives, but i dont want him to be some kind of knife expert. Maybe he has so many knives because he leaves each knife with its victim?

Hand-to-hand combat is a broad term. You don't need to be a trained fighter to do it. Simply using your hands to fight fills the criteria in my opinion. Although the Joker is a very cheap fighter.
But your average Joe who can throw a half-decent punch isn't going to be a challenge to Batman, is he? I can throw a punch, but Batman would still wipe the floor with my candy ass.

He's a fully-trained super-kickass-edition-Ninja for Christ sake!

If Joker was a physical challenge to Batman, then he must have been taught in the ways of martial arts -- because Batman, in BB, kicks the crap out of about four ninjas in one sitting.

You're comparing BB to a 70 year old comic...

Knives are a really close-quarters weapon. Unlike guns you have to be within inches of whoever you're killing and in most cases looking them in the eye. It fits with Joker's personality, how he's not just a mob leader who makes the plan, stays out of the action and gets a cut. Like we saw in the prologue, he's in the thick of the action and not afraid to get his hands dirty.

That pretty much sums it up.

I want my fully-trained-super-kickass-edition-Ninja Batman action figure and I want it now!:woot:

I'm not saying the Joker is a match for Batman. I'm just clarifying what hand-to-hand combat means.

I don't think anyone's saying that it means that this Joker will be/should be a good fighter, Mr. Superhero; they were simply correcting your summation that Joker has never been able to hold his own against Batman, when in fact he was created with the intention of giving Batman a worthy physical adversary. He punches him square off a bridge in their first encounter! And Batman replies with, "Finally, someone who'll give me a good fight!"

Time has made him soft, but his original incarnation was clearly a good fighter.

That's good to know.

Thank God these characters have evolved, is all I can say.

That's true especially after that 'fake batman' gets that note attached to him remember?

Maybe he pins a Joker card with a knife to all his victims?

You don't need Martial arts training to be a threat. There are other ways. Cheap shots, surprise, weapons, etc.

The Joker seems to like his guns. In the prologue he even stole the shotgun.

That could be why he has so many knives - he just likes collecting them. It's a hobby.

Well joker has always been a crack shot with a weapon, he has been shown numerous times he is very talented with a gun, disposing of law enforcement and others who apose him with head shots and scary accuracy. He always has a knife up his sleave in the comics and it seems like in this movie he will be using knifes a bit more. I think he will be skilled in knife play, but it will mainly be for maiming his victims, because he has a gun in the beginning of the penthouse scene and he comes in close to Rachel with a knife, he enjoys cutting his victims with a nice big smile.

Anyone think Joker keeps his knives on him to cut smiles on victim's faces? "Let's put a sssssmile on that face!" could be after he'd just off'ed someone...

LOL... post above mine was made while I was lagged out :p Great minds and all that...

I think KILLING will be his hobby...and bombs, knives, cars, rpg's, guns will be his 'money' to support that hobby :)

It won't be literally money cuz he'll have enough of that...remember the Bank Heist?

Hahaha, that's true. Well, the money from the bank probably goes to getting him some nice weapons to support his hobby of homicidal mayhem and robbery to get more money ect. Remember how they put a grenade in everyone's hands? I have no idea the price of weapons, but they gotta cost

i think he likes knives, but hes obviousy just a fan of all weaponry. for christ sakes he makes hostages hold grenades, and puts a smoke in the bank owners mouth...lol

hes just gonna be a badass with everything.

even if the joker was a knife expert he`s not a special armor AKA batmans suit expert so theres no chance of him finding a weak spot

I'm glad someone started a thread about this. It's kind of a cool twist to link Mr. J with some cold steel. It's obvious that his smile is at least partially the result of a sharp knife, so it makes sense that he'd weild the same weapon against his enemies. I'm in the camp that hopes we get to see some cool knife play and some cut smiles on some victim's faces!

i love the fact that Joker carries a bunch of knives in his pockets..personally i hope we get to see some cut smiles in the Joker's victims' faces

Same here!

Some people here have already said that the Joker should not be all about knives. And I agree with them. I hope it's not like for example Elektra and her sais(yeah I know, a crappy movie but you get the point).

So it's not like The Joker The Knife Wielding Stabber Extrodinaire. But it would be cool to see the Joker showcasing some knife skills. Even if it's just for scene or two.

To sum it up. I hope they don't over-do the knife thing and I'm sure they won't. But they should somehow emphasize the Jokers fascination with knives. And yes, his scars clearly indicate that he has a very close relationship with sharp objects.

:hoboj:
