CD Projeckt Red The Witcher 3

Are you saying you’re not looking forward to a batttle Royale Witcher series called Witcher 76? What could possibly go wrong

With this thread being semi active again, Nintendo getting the game and the Netflix show's promotion starting up..I'm getting the itch to download it again and do a new play through.

One of my favorite games of all time! I wonder if I'll get highly addicted again

I imagine a lot of people will be replaying it after the show comes out, especially if it’s really good.

I really wish we could get the first two games with updated graphics and mechanics.

At the very least Witcher 2 just a straight-up remaster or port or something. Several years I still strongly remember one of the CDPR producers saying they'd be fine if someone essentially made an unofficial PS4 remake or port of Witcher 2, make it good and show it to them and they'd approve it.

The first game got a remaster on PC. It's still janky as hell, tho.

I've only played the third game. Would love to see trilogy remaster collection like Batman Arkham

A remaster would probably be good enough for Witcher 2, or even just a port of the PC remaster that already came out awhile ago, the first game however needs rebuilt from the ground up, its gameplay is too outdated, and not console friendly at all.

METRO 2033 Author Calls THE WITCHER's Andrzej Sapkowski An "Old Fool" For Suing CDP Red
According to author of the Metro 2033 series Dmitry Glukhovsky, Andrzej Sapkowski, acclaimed creator of The Witcher, is "an ungrateful schmuck" for trying to get more money out of developer CD Projekt Red...Read more

oh yeah it's really some thing the past few month that other authors have been saying how foolish he is as well
Sapkowski might be an excellent author, but he's a horrible businessman.

Dude's an old guy, from Poland, and in his 70s. Doubt he was smart enough to realize, "Whoa, a video game based on my books? Cool!"

But yeah it's really his own fault. He could've accepted a royalty arrangement. He turned it down and asked for a lump sum and signed away the game rights. He gambled and he lost.

He turned down what other writers would gladly accept and use to expand their name out to the world.

He could have made twice the money he gets from netflix etc long ago but he was small minded.
Its a shame that such a guys work has so much success, he as a person really doesnt deserve it.

those people making the net flix show need to watch out with him as well. Since he's like that. Just saying.

Finally beat Hearts of Stone the other day and it was simply brilliant, just like the base game.
I let O'Dimm kill Olgierd the first time and then save him the second time
That final boss forced me to put the game on easy; my reflexes were not up to the challenge. I really need to try and use more potions, like the one that slows time after you kill someone.

Just started Blood and Wine and I am definitely going to take my time and make sure to clear every message board and do every side quest this expansion has to offer.

P.S. Would someone please remind me how to properly blackout things again?

I wonder what the likeliness of CDProject Red doing more Witcher games is these days? Sapkowsky probably ruined any relationship he had with them.

They could always make a different fantasy game using many of the same gameplay mechanics/game engine with the story and characters entirely different. I wouldn't mind that and would be happy to see Sapkowsky no longer linked in any way.

Did he have a relationship with them beyond selling his IP to them?

So modders have made a mod to change Geralt's face into Cavill's. Looks a little creepy atm hopefully they can fix that.

I would definitely be interested in whatever game they do next, even an original fantasy game. Though as a fan of the Witcher game, and for others fans, it would still be losing out on something great.

I don't know the nature of the deal they have in place. Unless they say there's no way of knowing if each game needed approval or if they are free to make any game for as long as they have the license. However, even if the author still wished to see more games made, would CDProject Red wish to work on the license after that?

On a similar note, I think someone said they were considered cannon which, if true, would mean he at least endorsed them at the time. Which makes me think of the upcoming Netflix series and their weird statement they would never adapt the games. Such an odd statement to make and it risks alienating a significant portion of the fanbase who you would naturaly rely on to support the series.

True, agreed. :csad:

The Witcher III: Wild Hunt
recently made its way onto the Nintendo Switch but that's not all for the popular fantasy franchise this year as; Netflix's live-action adaptation of The Witcher will be debuting on the streaming service at some point within the remaining months of 2019 — we don't yet know its exact release date.

The series will star Henry Cavill (Justice League) as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra (Wanderlust) as Yennefer, and Freya Allan (Into the Badlands) as Ciri — among others. Thus far, we've gotten one trailer for the Netflix series and a couple of cool images. Speaking, of some new shots recently surfaced online and you can check those out below.

Lauren Hissrich, the showrunner of The Witcher, recently participated in an interview with Corriere in which they spoke about how violent and adult the upcoming show will be. Apparently, the upcoming series will be quite brutal and mature. The showrunner specifically clarifies that Netflix's The Witcher is not suitable for children.

"Very brutal...we are not shy about the adult themes present in the original material. The novels contemplate sexism, racism, and war with a lot of politics. Let's say five-year-olds shouldn't watch it," Hissrich told the Italian site.

CD Projekt have apparently made a deal on game rights with the author.

I'm surprised the author was willing to cooperate and make a new deal

Yeah and it makes me so angry.
He has **** on the games and Adaptions in general for years, and now that unlikeable Bastard gets more money and exposure with this and the netflix Show.
Really not fair...but hey, more witcher is always good.
