The "World of Heroes" DC RPG Season VII Application

Screen Name: Byrd Man

Character you would like to play (please include the color and font you plan on using to portray the character): Colonel Richard "Rick" Flag Jr.

Powers and Brief Origin (provide at least two sentences) If you copy/paste this information from another website, link back to it, or it is considered plagiarism and is not allowed. : Rick has no powers to speak of, but his years in the military has shaped his body and mind into a perfect soldier.

Young Rick headed a new, public team which included his girlfriend, Karin Grace, Dr. Hugh Evans, and Jess Bright.[8] In one tragic mission in Cambodia they were pursued by a Yeti. Evans and Bright and the Yeti fell into a crevasse, presumably to their deaths.[9] Bright survived, angered at being left behind.


Bright, frostbitten and near-death, was found by the Chinese who nursed him back to health. He then passed onto the Russians who transformed him into the bionic monster called Koshchei the Deathless. With his expertise in engineering, Bright assisted in the creation of the Rocket Red Brigade and lent a hand to the nation of Qurac in assembling their metahuman team, the Jihad. Grace also secretly bore Flag's son and placed him with an adoptive family. Later, Rick was sent to infiltrate the Forgotten Heroes as a spy for the government.[10] After the "death" of the Forgotten Heroes' leader, the Immortal Man, the team disbanded and Flag worked covertly for the U.S. government.

From me: Now, years after working with the squad, Amanda Waller calls him back into service.

Bella Reve Prison

A group of a half dozen super powered criminals and convicts stand in front of me in the deserted prison yard.

From the looks of them, they are the worse society has to offer. They'll do nicely.

"My names is Colonel Richard Flag Jr. Rick Flag to my friends, but you are not my friends. You are the dregs of this country, the absolute worse we as a species is capable of. Some of you are lower than the piece of gum I stepped on two hours ago.....but that doesn't mean you do not deserve a chance at freedom. We will give you that chance."

"Yeah, yeah...you're the Suicide Squad. So what?" One of the prisoners mutters.

"What is your name?"

"John Henry Martin. They call me Outlaw."

I smirk and take off my sunglasses.

"I take it you are not up for enlisting, Mr. Martin?"

"Kiss my ass, GI Joe."

"I'm sorry. I should have made myself clear. I am not asking for your cooperation, I am demanding it. Welcome to Suicide Squad."

"You can't do that!" Outlaw protests.

"Yes, I can. Over the past few weeks, each and everyone of you has had an explosive device placed in your head. Any refusal will result in termination."

I pull out a remote control and Outlaw scoffs.

"Bull. I refuse to do this ****." He says as he walks up to me and pokes me in the chest.

"Now, what are you gonna d-"

BOOM!

His head explodes like a pumpkin, with bone and brains landing in the yard..

I turn to the other prisoners and wipe a chuck of skull off my suit.

"Welcome to Suicide Squad."

Just a few things:
- Rick Flag should be dead. He died during the original series run, which concluded long before our cut-off point. Of course, in recent years, they've shown he didn't actually die and that he's back with the Squad, but I figure you'd have to write his return to the fold.
- Rick Flag had a bit of a more bitter turn to him. He wasn't particularly a vocal supporter of the Suicide Squad. In that sense, the scene would fit Amanda Waller more.

Sorry, Byrd, I'm a big Suicide Squad fan.

EDIT: Oh, and Outlaw was a member of the Suicide Squad. Happily at that.

Sorry to do this on such short notice, but I'm going to be out of town for at least the next couple of weeks. I might have access to a computer during that time, I might not. I'm really not sure.

Either way, I'm gonna try and get one more post up with my characters so I don't lose them (especially Supes)

The way I see it, there are plenty of times we let people portray or introduce characters after our cut-off point without doing some comic-tied introduction. There are several characters from this Season and the past several Seasons. One of them is me portraying Jason Todd without having Hush or any IC stuff related. The fact that these characters are back and/or present is kinda the main thing with me.

Byrd is approved.

I'm reintroudcing Flag back into the Squad, a new squad Waller is creating. He returns from the "grave" after IC and all that stuff, and I'll show where he really was through flashbacks.

I've haven't read his Suicide Squad but Ostrander's Spectre run is one of all time favorite comic runs ever.

It goes Suicide Squad, Seven Soldiers, Villains United, then Secret Six.

Well Suicide Squad, Villains United, and Secert Six I guess are thematically linked. They are all stories about villains.

Secert Six is a sequel to Villains United.

Seven Soldiers exists on the fringes of DC continunity and in its own little Morrisonverse. Although the Mr. Miracle story was important to Final Crisis and Frankenstein shows up there.
