Sorry, the best App With No Posts award goes to MB and SSF is first runner-up.

ok....my houseguest leaves this weekend and I will be back to posting regular next week. Life has been crazy, and something had to give somewhere...but I'll be back!!!

Right here you are, the moment you've all been waiting for.

BEST STORYLINE: GORILLA GRODD TAKES OVER THE WORLD WITH AN STI (Snapper_Carr)
BEST HERO: NIGHTWING (Byrd Man)
BEST VILLAIN: THE JOKER (as ever)
BEST DEVELOPED CHARACTER: SUPERBOY (Eddie Brock)
BEST FIGHT: THE LANTERNS ***** AQUAMAN (once again showing he should never leave the comfort of the ocean)
BEST POST: I dont think I can rightly say
MVP: BYRD MAN (because of his nightly virgin sacrifices to grant the game long life)

Thanks for the Best Villain nod, Catman!

I'll try and get up my awards soon.

I should get back in the groove of posting soon. I will work on my awards hopefully later tonight. And thanks Cats for the nod with that fight. It was so much fun making Aquaman evil for a small portion of time.

btw all Im not dead (not that any of you are dying to see my next post), i have just been having to deal with some school issues.

BEST STORYLINE - "THERE WILL BE A CRISIS" (Watchman)
Ever since Darkseid uttered those words to close Season VI of the DC RPG, Watchman has been intricately building his enigmatic storyline, its influence spanning out across all Watchman's stories. And it's all been infused with a psychadelic weirdness that would make Grant Morrison proud. The malign influence of Darkseid and the Evil Gods has been felt in his work on Prometheus, on The Question, and lately with Captain Marvel, yet we get the sense we're only seeing the opening salvos of something much bigger waiting out on the horizon. I'm sure Watchman's got something really special cooking for the future, and I for one can't wait to see how it all pans out.

BEST HERO - SINESTRO (wiegeabo)
Isn't it funny, that we're in a position that Sinestro can be nominated for Best Hero? But it's a testament to wiegeabo's considerable writing talent that Sinestro has become utterly convincing in the role, to the point where we don't even give his villainous pedigree a second thought. The inclusion of the human family that Sinestro has grown attached to was also a genius move, helping to humanise the often-austere alien. I've had the pleasure of being able to interact with Sinestro quite often this season as Green Lantern, and those scenes I've shared have been among my favourite experiences playing Hal. He just has the character's voice down so perfectly. Looking forward to see where wieg takes him.

BEST VILLAIN - BATMAN (Watchman)
This gets weirder and weirder. Sinestro as Best Hero, and... Batman as Best Villain!? Of course, we know it's not really Batman, but rather Prometheus. But the deviance on display is all the more despicable for the fact that Prometheus is committing it dressed as the iconic hero. Prometheus' arc has really been ground-zero for the multi-stranded narrative that I awarded Best Storyline above. Watchman's Prometheus is just a compelling menace you love to hate. Honorable mention also goes to Snapper Carr's Gorilla Grodd.

BEST DEVELOPED CHARACTER - AQUAMAN (trustyside-kick)
Trusty has been doing stellar work with Aquaman for so long, it's easy to take for granted the quality of his characterisation. But in this season, Orin has been taken through the wringer from the get-go - his thoughts and dreams plagued with psychic attacks, his family hurt, his reputation dragged through the mud. Enough to make anyone see red, which is what Aquaman did in spectacular fashion when he was transformed into a Red Lantern. Trusty's Aquaman is a dependable mainstay of the RPG, and long may that continue.

And I know I said there were no newcomers to award, but one occurred to me:

BEST NEWCOMER - RED_ROBIN 77 (Kyle Rayner)
You wouldn't think this guy was a newbie. He plays the part of Kyle Rayner with the skill and precision of a tenured veteran, and I for one have had a great time working with him. As the season develops, I'm sure he's only going to get better!

BEST FIGHT - NIGHTWING VS BATMAN (Byrd Man, Watchman)
This was just a crazy, epic fight, that felt like it was never going to end! Hopping from location to location, with the verbal blows often as hard-hitting as the physical ones, seeing Dick Grayson trying to put an end to the psychopath disgracing the mantle of Batman just created some great drama. And some first-class action to boot! Nicely done, Byrd and Watchman! Honorable mention goes to the vicious smackdown between Lobo and Sinestro, nice work there by wiegeabo and Superferret.

BEST POST - AQUAMAN BECOMES A RED LANTERN (trustyside-kick)
This post had it all. On one hand, it marks the point where Aquaman's conflict comes to an emotional head. That would be enough to make this a great post, but then the shock appearance of the red ring out of nowhere (but of course, not really out of nowhere - look back, and trusty had been teasing Orin's rage issues for some time beforehand) to give us the shock finale. Great characterisation + great story development = GREAT post. See for yourself:

Outerspace, just outside the Earth's Orbit

A jewel of the stars races at a great speed and intense pace. Shooting across the blackened sky of space, it illuminates the nearby asteroids and satellites with its red glow.

Outside of the Underwater Grotto

Catching one of the firey fists thrown at him with his mystical hand, the Marine Marvel acts quickly. The negating powers of his waterbearer hands overrides Orm's spell as his hand morphs and completely engulfs Orm's. One arm locked on each other, they proceed to swing and punch each other with their free hand; but that's exactly what Orin wanted.

Orm is not nearly as skilled in hand-to-hand combat, and so Aquaman easily evades the blows. After Ocean Master makes a final attempt to strike the hero, Orin simply bends backward on his spine, and as Orm's arm recoils Orin springs back up, headbutting Orm at the forehead.

"There's a reason why I have been titled 'King of the Seven Seas', Orm. I believe it is time you remembered that."

The Aquatic Ace proceeds with an array of blows to Orm's body, never striking the same place twice. Weak and weary, finally Aquaman releases the grip his mystical hand had on Orm, letting the villain drift slowly.

"You may try, and you may try again. But you will never succeed. Allow me to englithten you. The one time you had a chance at my throne, it was when I was presumed to be dead, and unable to stop you. But all it took was for my return, and everything you thought you had turned to ash. And with Garth as the new King of the new Government we have established, if you ever DO succeed usurping Garth's throne, you will have the American Government to answer to."

Ocean Master's grip tightens, and he looks up at his half-brother whom hovers above him as though he was indeed above him in stature. Muttering a spell beneath his breath, suddenly Ocean Master's entire body starts to illuminate.

"No, brother. Hahahah. Allow ME to enlighten YOU!"

Releasing his spell, Orm casts out a blinding light throughout the oceanscape. The radius of the spell is no more than a half mile which is long enough to ensure Aquaman gets in the crossfire of it should he try to swim away.

Swiping at the waters around him, the Marine Marvel finds himself unable to see. The pain of opening his eyes and still seeing the blinding light, forces Aquaman to keep his eyes closed. And in the darkness of the depth, the sinister laugh of the Ocean Master echoes.

"Aw, poor Artie. You look so scared. Hahaha. I wonder...how does it feel to wander the deep, dark, scaaaaary, oceans of Atlantis unable to see? Like you could so easily--"

"OOF!"

"--fall with no one to catch you."

Kicking Aquaman in the chest, Orm sends Orin flying. His rough landing being the edge of the vulcano. The Aquatic Ace getting up, he tries to use his senses but finds them useless. Normally he could use his senses of hearing and senses of touch within the underwater realm to detect his enemy. But the underwater vulcano, through their battle, has become active. The rumbling sound of the lava trying to escape is simply disturbing his senses.

"Pathetic really."

Just as Aquaman lunges forth to strike at Orm, the Ocean Master simply catches his fists, and shoots Orin backward with a magical bolt.

"You are as helpess as a baby in this current state. Such as a certain...royal daughter, perhaps? Hahahahaha!"

Just outside of Earth's atmosphere

The object which has fallen from the cosmos, no longer seems to be just drifting along at a great speed, but rather has picked up speed. It hones in on its target, impatient and eager, as though it was alive. The red glow intensifies.

At the edge of the Underwater Vulcano

"You didn't think that before I fled, I wouldn't gander at the wonders of your troubles, did you? The oil tanker, the torpedo, dear o' little Kym..."

Orin begins to clench his fists and grit his teeth as the Ocean Master continues to mock him. The image of his infant daughter replays over and over again. And the thought that she may be blind, just as her father temporarily is now through Orm's spell, only continues to fill him with rage.

"Funny though. Because while it could possibly have been the BEST way to have hurt you yet, it was all by accident. Guess I almost now know what Manta must have felt. Heh...heheh...hehaahahahah--ARRGGGKKK!"

With one swift outstretch of his arm, Orin manages to clench Orm's throat. While the villain was monologuing, Orin was finally able to separate the patterns of noise from the vulcanoic activity, and Orm's voice to pinpoint just where exactly to strike. With just enough time, he was successful. Orin tightens the grip on Orm's throat.

"You're scum."

"H-h-heh. What an insu-su-lt for you g-give. Y-y-you to my m-m-m-mind from me. D-did you not think th-th-there would be co-con-consequences?"

A mere tightening in his hands, stops the Ocean Master from talking further more. Orin recalls that day when he returned to Atlantis. There were battle ships from Manta's army, his Atlantean army doing their best to fight back. And in the midst of it all stood the Ocean Master. Crazed and driven by a lust for power and for blood, the villainous half brother was slaying human and Atlantean alike. The old magicks of Shalako had poisoned his mind, in return for giving him unspeakable power. Orin had to do what was necessary, to seal the power away. He continues to tighten his grip.

"Did YOU not think there would be CONSEQUENCES for YOUR actions? ALL it would take is for me to CRUSH your wind piper. I CAN LEAVE THE SHARKS TO DO THE REST! It's their role in the underwater circle of life after all: TO PREY ON THE DEAD AND THE DYING!"

There is no sly or quick remark. No back talk. No banter of any sort. The Ocean Master simply can't.

Almost without thinking of what he is infact thinking, as it comes out so naturally to him which is indeed surprising, Orin calls out to a nearby octopus he senses swimming nearby. Instantly it responds to the former Sea King's call, and fetches the javelin Orm used in the battle which lies in the coral bed not too far way.

"The world will go on just fine without the Ocean Master. And I, will simply be able to sleep better at night. Alas, the thought of a good night's sleep seems possible yet again."

Keeping Orm pinned against the vulcano mountainside with one arm and one knee pressed down hard, Orin reaches back to the octopus, taking the javelin out of its tentacles.

"GOODBYE, BROTHER!"

orinalmostlosesit1.jpg

And then...something happens. The unexpected happens, of course. Orin's sight is finally returned to him. The duration of Orm's spell that blinded him temporarily has passed. And it is the sight before his eyes, that causes Orin to stop just before he punctures the Ocean Master's body.It is the look of fear in his eyes. He is dead scared. Scared for his life. Never before, has Orin struck such a look into someone's eyes.

"What...what have I...what have I beco--"

A red light lightens up the entire area, and at the speed of a bullet underwater. Orin feels as though he can hear a war drum beating hard.

*BABUM*
*BABUM*
*BABUM*

The beating stops, and for a moment all is silent. But Orin can feel it. It closes in on him, and stops just several feet before him.

redringarrives.jpg

RAGE.

YOU HAVE GREAT RAGE IN YOUR HEART.

HATRED.

IT IS UNCONTROLLABLE.

AND SO YOU SHALL UNLEASH IT.

The ring flies to Orin's finger, taking him over by force. It consumes him, corrupting his mind and his body to mold it in its perferences. He does his best to fight it, but his struggle is rendered useless as it takes his rage and all of his anger and hatred, and overrides him. The underwater vulcano errupts, and lava starts to pour and shout out everywhere.

The Ocean Master makes his escape, as his half-brother floats there, taking in the lava and fire with a devlish smile of glee upon his face as he recites his new oath.

"With blood and rage of crimson red
Ripped from a corpse so freshly dead
Together with our hellish hate
We'll burn you all--
--THAT IS YOUR FATE!"

MVP - BYRD MAN
As ever, Byrd Man has ensured he is a vital part of the DC RPG. What I like about his presence this season is how flexible he's been. We've seen him jump from character to character, giving one aspect or story in the game a boost before moving onto the next one. Byrd really has a knack for energising the rest of us, and I hope he can keep it up as we forge ahead!

BEST STORYLINE
Countdown to the War of Lights. One thing we do best in this RPG, is sometimes have stories that reflect the current or not too far past times of the mainstream comicbook world. I fell in love with the Green Lantern mythos through the recent writing of Johns and Co. that have been building up so much prior and after the Sinestro Corps War. This War of Lights arc has brought such anticipation and attention in this RPG, and I cannot wait til it fully takes off.

BEST HERO
Hal Jordan. Keyser seems to be doing something I've been wanting for SEASONS to happen: expose the GL mythos into the RPG. I know batnkevlar was a rabid Hal Jordan fan, but every time he seemed to try to do anything GLC related, it never really finished. Now we've got a GL PC that I know will stick around. Keyser, if you drop Jordan...bad things will happen to you.

BEST VILLAIN
Gorilla Grodd. This took me by surprise. We always have our jokes about the new blood in town of the RPG section, but this newcomer brought an interesting arc upon us. Gorilla Grodd is a villain I've always somewhat liked and been curious about, and Snapper_Carr found an awesome to really bring him into the RPG. Sure the villain's been NPCed before, but I feel this time he's really being brought justice. Keep up the good work.

BEST DEVELOPED CHARACTER
Ravager. I love Rose. Started out soley because she was Deathstroke's daughter, but then there's the whole messed up family thing they got going on that really hooks me. And here, during this Season, Syn (Mercenary) tackles so much drama for her life that is really, truly fitting and could easily happen to her in the comics. Teen pregnancy is a big issue, and it makes so much sense with a character such as Rose and in general the Teen Titans when it comes to teammate intimacy.

BEST TEAM
Justice League. I'm sorry. I gotta be honest. We talked about bringing back the JLA SOOOO many times ever since I joined this RPG. But we never successfully did it. This Season though, the majority of us have tried our best to make the team finally feel felt and present in the RPG. And guess what people? There's more where that came from.

BEST FIGHT
Underwater battle: JLA vs Mongul. I love ring slinger fights. I'm sorry. I've voted for crazy ring slinger fights in the past, and nothing is sexier than a ring slinger fight between Sinestro, Hal, and Mongul...tossed with some Aquaman action. I love seeing posters come up with peculiar and interesting construct ideas in fights, and seeing what they do with them.

BEST NEWCOMER
Snapper_Carr. Dude took me by surprise. I was extremely impressed when he whipped up such a large scale arc by Grodd without any complaints. That's a good story in progress is what it is. This arc didn't come from some "veteran" poster and welcomed by all...came from one of the newbies. Congrats, Snapper.

Thanks Keyser, it's really appreciated. :yay:

BEST DEVELOPED CHARACTER - AQUAMAN (trustyside-kick)
Trusty has been doing stellar work with Aquaman for so long, it's easy to take for granted the quality of his characterisation. Thanks Keyser. Greatly appreciate it. And I don't think I expressed how grateful I was when you told me a while back that your take and approach on Jordan and the GL mythos was inspired from me trying to expose Aquaman's own mythos and world. The RPG needs the GLC-verse to be bigger, and that's exactly what you GLs are finally doing.

Yeah, it's definitely true that your approach to Aquaman inspired me to do the same for Green Lantern. The way you opened up that mythos and that world to people totally unfamiliar with it, I wanted to do the same for the world of Green Lantern.

And thank you very much for the Best Hero nomination for Hal Jordan. I think moreso than with The Joker this season, I've put a lot of work into developing Hal and his story, so I was really happy to see that get recognised.

I think I'm going to have to drop Plastic Man, he was pretty fun to play but I just haven't had any inspiration for him lately. Seeing as I haven't posted as him in more than 30 days, it shows that maybe I should leave him for a bit, until I can find a bit if inspiration for him.
