I'm dropping both of my characters. I'm going to make this announcement in the Bulletin Board, but here's the situation: I'm leaving for college tomorrow, so for the next couple weeks, I'm going to be unreliable as **** as I get settled. Now, I was just going to give Cats and Byrd permission to bunny Superboy and Kilowog (respectively), but - depending on the circumstances - I might not be able to return for a while. And this RPG is too active for me to bog it down right now. So when I'm settled in, I plan on returning. Maybe. We'll see how things go.

Character you would like to play (please include the color and font you plan on using to portray the character): Zoom (Hunter Zolomon)

Powers and Brief Origin (provide at least two sentences) If you copy/paste this information from another website, link back to it, or it is considered plagiarism and is not allowed. : Zoom is a speedster, but has no connection to the Speed Force. His powers come from him being displaced to his own timeline via an accident while attempting to use the cosmic treadmill. He is unable to phase through objects or go intangible, but Hunter's speed is on par with Wally's and has been shown to surpass it at times. Hunter's "speed" is so great, that even other speedsters appear to be standing still to him when he decided to push himself to the limit.

Once an up and coming field agent and profiler for the FBI, Hunter's world got turned upside down when he misjudged a criminal's personality, resulting in the death of his father-in-law. His wife, Ashley, left him and Hunter was forced to leave the Bureau. Taking a job as the Rogue profiler for the Keystone City Police Department, Hunter Zolomon quickly made friends with the Fastest Man Alive, Wally West.

But, after being paralyzed by Grodd, Hunter beseached his friend, the Flash, to use the cosmic treadmill to help reverse his horrible accident. Wally refused, and Hunter immediately resented him for it. His stubborness would not allow him to let his hopes die, so Hunter tried to use the treadmill himself only to have it blow up in his face. The accident placed Hunter on his own, personal timeline, with the ability to slow down time relative to him, thus give him "super speed".

Originally bitter that his friend did not help him, Hunter took on the mantle of Zoom and vowed to make Wally a better hero, one who would do whatever it took to help a friend or loved one. So Zoom persisted to torment Wally, first by taking away his children by forcing Linda into a miscarraige. Only by borrowing the speed from his friends was Wally able to stop the deranged Hunter and imprison him in Iron Heights.

Zoom and the Flash clashed many more times since their first encounter, all the while Hunter falling deeper and deeper into madness. He even murdered his ex-wife, Ashley Zolomon, stringing her up on a makeshift cross.

Eventually, during a major battle, Zoom regained a semblance of his senses and imprisoned himself in a time window, a side effect of his powers.
But that would not be the last we saw of Hunter. During the second Dark Alliance's final attack, Zoom was brought back under the villain's control and resumed his battle against Wally. But Wally was able to remove the device controling him and brought Hunter back to his senses.
Thanks to Wally's urgings, Hunter once again donned the mantle of Zoom. But this time he would use it as a force for good. To atone for his past sins by helping the his friend, the Flash, in his neverending struggle against evil.

Write two complete sentences using proper English grammar. One to explain what you plan to do with the character you've chosen. The other to explain why you've chosen this character. (i.e. What are your goals? Will you be doing anything different with the character than is usually seen?): I plan to follow up on where I left Hunter, him fighting to make up for the atrocities he's commited. I've chosen him because I'm a huge fan of the Flash, and Zoom is a character I've never have gotten the chance to play yet.

"You all right", asks Wally as he runs over to help Hunter to his feet.

"Yeah", replies Zolomon as he shakes his head, "it's like there's a haze around my mind, but it's getting better."

"What happened?"

"Well, short version is that a group of villains called the Dark Alliance have banded together and have started a war against us. They've killed hundreds of innocent people already, and have destroyed the lives of hundreds more. Just to get to us."

"And we've lost some friends along the way as well", sighs Wally as he hangs his head, thinking about Kara and Vic.

"As for how you fit into all this", continues Wally as he holds up the small device to Zoom.

"Prometheus must have found you in the cemetary and used this thing to free you from the window and return you to your old self."

Hunter stares at the device silently as he takes in all that Wally has said. Reaching out, Hunter takes the small stone-like piece of technology from Wally's hand.
Twirling it in his hands, Hunter inspects it. Then, with all his strength, smashes the small device between his fingers.

"I...I'm sorry, Wally. I thought I had put all the atrocities I commited behind me", Hunter states somberly.

"I was ready to pay for my sins. To make sure I couldn't hurt you or this world again."

"Guess it didn't work out so well", he said with a shake of his head and a dejected laugh.

"I've been in this game for a long time, Hunter. And, as corny as it sounds, I believe things happen for a reason. Maybe you were meant to come back."

"Why", frowns Hunter, "so I can torture you again? So I can endanger innocent people as that monster?"

"No, buddy", Wally says as he places his hand on Hunter's shoulder.
"This is your chance to make things right. To take your power and use it to help people instead of hurting them."

"You talk about penance, Hunter? Well, here's your chance to make up for all the things you did."

"I appreciate it, but I don't know if I can do that, Wally", Hunter replies with a forced smile.
"I don't know if I can look these people in the eye after what I've done."

"You're one of the strongest people I've ever met, Hunter. If anyone can do this, it's you."

"Thanks, Wally", smiles Hunter warmly, "I can try, but I don't even know where to begin?"

"Well, the Twin Cities will need a protector while we're dealing with the Dark Alliance. Somebody to keep the Rogues in check and make sure the Alliance keeps their noses out of Keystone and Central."

"I couldn't think of anyone better for the job."

Hunter stands quietly for a moment, thinking things through.
Maybe this was his chance to make things right?
To make up for all the horrible things he has done since doning the mantle of Zoom?
This was his chance to make a difference again. To be a hero once more.

He owed it not only to himself, but to Ashley most of all.

"All right, Flash", says Hunter as he puts the mask back on.

"From now on, you can count on Zoom."

"Goodluck,Wally", Zoom states as he disappears heading to keep the Twin Cities of Keystone and Central safe.

Wally sighed and smiled.
"Good luck, Hunter. I have a feeling you'll do us all proud."
