Screen Name: The Question

Character you would like to play (please include the color and font you plan on using to portray the character): The Question (I've dropped using special colors and fonts, largely because I find the current format for doing so on The Hype to be rather tedious).

Powers and Brief Origin (provide at least two sentences) If you copy/paste this information from another website, link back to it, or it is considered plagiarism and is not allowed. : And orphan raised in Hub City, Charles Victor Szazs grew up to become an angry, arrogant, paranoid, sardonic, yet strangely idealistic young man. He found a love for writing and became a small celebrity as a columnist and TV anchor for Hub City's local news. Ultimately, his anger and desire for justice led to him spending his nights as a vigilante detective, digging up dirt on the nastier people of this world and beating the crud out of evildoers for fun. Over the years, he has grown into a man with a very shaky faith in humanity and a somewhat heartless, vengeful streak he struggles to keep in check. He has no superhuman abilities, although he briefly gained psychic powers which he subsequently lost. He is a skilled hand to hand combatant, a brilliant detective, knowledgeable of firearms, and a gifted writer and performer. Owns two handguns and a grapple gun. Fond of smoke pellets.

Group your character is aligned with (if applicable): Outsiders/Justice League (reservist).

Write two complete sentences using proper English grammar. One to explain what you plan to do with the character you've chosen. The other to explain why you've chosen this character. (i.e. What are your goals? Will you be doing anything different with the character than is usually seen?): I plan to write a very character centric story line with him, developing him based on his various past appearances in the comics and in this RPG. I also plan to have a bit more growth in his universe, working with his supporting cast and other superheroes to finally make Hub City a better place and working with the likes of The Justice League to do good on a larger scale. Hopefully build up some good PC relationships. I chose him because he was my first PC and I miss him.

It was one hell of a night.

I went for a walk after we finished taping the show. I'd gotten into a fight with one of the guests (pompous blowhard "Governors should be treated with respect" sonuva...) and needed to blow of a little steam. I took the scenic rout through all the bad neighborhoods, looking for trouble. Things were quiet everywhere I went, which is a good thing but didn't make me feel any better.

Eventually, I gave up and started the long back in the car, hoping in the back of my mind that I would come across something to do on my way.

My prayers were answered in the form of the bank exploding.

Thank Buddha.

I had been walking down the opposite side of the street, and the force of the explosion knocked me ten feet down an alley I was lucking to be in front of instead of a brick wall. The heat was intense, felt like a giant fiery fist hitting me square in the chest. I whipped off my hat and jacket and ran towards the fire, to see if there was anything I could do. I was in the middle of the street when a blond man wearing a green suit with a swastika on his chest rose out of the fire into the air like some kind of hell god. It was Captain Nazi.

An indestructible super powered Neo-Nazi had blown up a bank in Hub City. Naturally, my response was to pull out a gun and shoot him in the face.

I got probably the luckiest shot in my life, hitting him directly in his left eye. Unfortunately, he peeled the bullet off of his eyeball like nothing had happened. Yes, he looked annoyed, but more because I'd had the audacity to try and shoot him in the eye, not because it had actually hurt him any. He said something in German that sounded like a curse word, but then everything in German sounds like a curse word. I responded with the only words that seemed appropriate:

"This is going to suck."

I pulled out my grapple gun.

Then things got really interesting.

I never intended it to be more than cameo appearance. I know the Question had run into the Religion of Crime and I just had him followed up some leads on them and then heading it over to Gordon/Batman.

Hector Hall was the current Fate when we had the continuity cut-off point. In2minds played Hall as Fate last season. You can play him or come up with a way to actually have Nelson come back to life and become Fate again.

Hall did not disappear or anything. He was used at the end of last Season. You cannot just change Dr. Fate all of a sudden. The last he was used he was holding Poseidon's Trident for Aquaman to keep it safe.

I agree with the previous speaker. If you're just going to completely disregard what's happened in the RPG before and do your own thing, you might as well just open up a fanfiction.net account. The point of a game like this is the restrictions. It forces you to get creative.

I told him if he came up with a reasonable explination to bring the old Fate back, he could be approved. He never really did that and I never really approved him.


Also, I am seeing a lot of people are either past the two-week mark, or close to it (myself included). I think I'll take this time to remind everyone that when they apply, they have to make at least one post every two weeks to keep their character. Two weeks, not every four weeks. I'll give everyone past the two week mark until this Friday to post. If you don't post by then, you're character is off the roster and up for grabs.

Powers and Brief Origin (provide at least two sentences): Kyle Rayner was a struggling freelance artist, until he was found by Ganthet after the destruction of the Green Lantern Corps at the hands of Hal Jordan and given the last Power Ring and became the last Green Lantern. Since then, he's overcome great leaps and bounds to become the man he is today, two of the more important events being his taking part in rebuilding the Corps and becoming the Torchbearer.

Currently he's rejoined the Justice League and helped to defeat the Dark Alliance's second iteration, and is still a struggling freelance artist balancing his duties as a Green Lantern.

It's strange to be me...

Many years ago, a small blue man came to me and gave me a ring. Little did I know, it's one of the most powerful weapons in the universe.

So I'm a Green Lantern now, and beside my fellow Lanterns of 2814, we protect the Earth and Universe alike from evils as black as night, bringing hope that is as bright as day. But none of that helps me when I'm Kyle Rayner, the has-been freelance artist...

"Yes, Mr. Wolfman. I understand the piece is late but if you will just give me some time I can finish it... What? Fired? Mr. Wolfman please give me another chance! I... I.........Hello? Mr. Wolfman? Damn it..."

Another chance to earn some money down the drain, because I can't meet a stupid deadline. I mean, most of my time being occupied by the Corps and the League doesn't help, but I should still be able to finish a piece of work in on time. Sometimes I wonder if it's even worth it? Not being a Green Lantern, but living a normal life. Is it really that great? I mean, in the Corps, I'm special. I'm a somebody, but here on Earth I'm no one, and can barely pay my rent. But hey, what can you do?

So then I looked at my clock, and then my jaw dropped...

"Oh crap! The ceremony!"

I can't believe I forgot Bruce's Memorial at the Hall! I better get over there...

"Ring, my uniform please..."

Then in a flash of swirling green lights, my costume slithered over my body, and I took off towards the Hall.

Nice one, Rayner. Miss one of your greatest mentor's and best friend's Memorial, why don't ya?
