The problem (one of many) at WWE is I have no faith that even if they put over a guy, he might be a top star for a year or so, but then they screw him over with a crap gimmick or story. Whoever (if anyone) gets the honour of beating Taker needs to almost be untouchable from then on.
What gets me, is that everyone from fans to the wrestlers, to previous superstars, all seem to be of the same idea; Ziggler has it all, he is the future. So what are WWE doing jobbing him ALL the time?! Start turning him face for goodness sake. He'd be a marketing dream, the new Ric Flair. Have him ditch Vickie, turn face and really go for it. Dolph cashes in at some point, he loses, blames Vickie, leaves Vickie, turns face, performs as his show man persona, giving the crowd what they want to see, crazy spots in matches, epic selling, stuff that makes him pure gold with everyone. Then he can lose matches without losing face because of the entertainment. As it stands, his losing is making him look crap when he's not.
As for Punk and his title reign. I'm a Punk fan, but the good work that's been done with how he won the title is now obsolete with this ridiculous heel turn. The whole 'demanding respect' thing has been done to death and it's boring. I don't care if he loses. I don't care if he lost to Ryback, but as per my first point (much like Chris Jericho said) if Ryback wins he needs to be dominant. He doesn't have to hold the title for years to be dominant, he could drop the belt to anyone via interference or anything, but he has to be backed as a power house for the rest of his tenure at WWE to make it all worth a damn.
Simply put, WWE has no long term planning. They don't know how to book their talent to their strengths and they can't groom the younger guys to be exciting or watchable for anymore than a couple of weeks. The entire structure needs an enema.
And they need to change the way they write a show.
How many times do we need to see story lines about general managers changing hands every few moths? Imagine if UFC did something like this. Or football. Basketball, etc.
How many times will they continue to shove guys down our throats because they're simply big, muscly guys (insert boring, bland, terrible at anything beyond one or two moves)?
How many times will WWE throw meaningless matches out there where a win means nothing at all. These hollow victories do nothing for the wrestlers nor the belts they wrestle for. None of the titles mean anything anymore. WWE have conditioned us to think that.
Lame comedy skits that are "injokes" have no place on a television show being broadcast to the world. They need to stop these. They need major creative and production changes. They need to sit down and decide who their stars will be and who they want to develop into stars and do it.
