The Wrestling Thread Has More Hype Than WrestleMania XXIX - - Part 92

Cool. I'm glad you had a good time. I didn't think Raw was that good, especially as the go home Raw before Mania, but theres still nothing like a live event and especiallly a tv taping. That alone makes up for some of the weak creative stuff.

My problem with Rock/Cena II is much like yours: they really have nothing new to say. We've heard all this before. The tease of a Cena heel turn is still not enough to really make this seem like the big deal they're trying to sell it as. Its like they expected the marquee value to sell the whole rematch until the very last minujte when they decided to do a little something.

Cena is too goofy and drones on and Rock needs some new schtick. Its not as bad as last year but still... I don't buy them as believing ANYTHING they've said so far. Cenas no underdog and if Rock has so much passion where the f** has he been?

Exactly, the whole feud rings false. Between Cena needing redemption, and Rock's passion, I'm like, "What? Is this the twilight zone? Was there an Infinite Crisis or revision in which this part of the story was added?"

Once again HHH just wanted to play Ric Flair.

I can't lie. I was liking that take on HHH, even if his shoveling habits were at an all time high during that period. :funny:

But it won't be the most impressive Mark Henry lift that's been done. That belongs to the guy in this video. He picked him up like he was nothing Nell...NOTHING!

Have I said already that I want another Brock Lesnar WWE Title reign?... :oldrazz:

I had to find this clip. Flair was such a lovable heel. :funny:

^ That reminds me, does anyone remember when they once showed an instance of the Hurricane turning heel and he yanked the mask he gave to a kid off his face when he lost his match.

For years, I hated Triple-H for what he did to ruin Orton's first title reign.

Michael Moody, the son of the late Paul Bearer, has posted the following on his Facebook page, reacting to last night's closing segment of Raw featuring The Undertaker, CM Punk and Paul Heyman:

"If anyone is wondering, yes, WWE did come to us wanting approval for tonight's storyline. The way it was presented to us was ok. Seeing it on screen was a different story. I don't even know what to say."

Teachable moment: never say to Vince McMahon, "Don't worry about it, I trust your judgment."

It would be cool if Cena did turn at WrestleMania by using a weapon to beat The Rock. If they turn Cena, they have to do Punk/Cena again with the roles reversed.

I’ll only accept Cena winning if he does to The Rock what Austin did to The Rock at X7. Freshen the company as a whole up.

Jus started watching Robot Combat League,Not so bad and Jericho is a cool host!!

Except that isn't fresh.

It'd be fresh enough since WM X7 was over 10 years ago and Cena hasn't!been a heel close to that..It'd just be a rehash

I'd prefer Cena turning heel on his own and not having Big Johnny's help or something

Cena turning heel would be the best result at this point, but I don't think I would call it fresh.

Cena changing his stale character isn't fresh?

It has all been done before, so I don't know how fresh it would be, especially if it came against the Rock. Would it be fresher then what we have seen from Cena? Yep. But for the company or business? I don't think so. Top faces turning heel is the card that has been played so many times since Hogan's NWO turn.

If Cena turns on Sunday it would be a nice change of pace but not fresh because been there done that. It would be no where near when Hogan turned. That was an incredibly cool jaw dropping moment that rocked pro wrestling for a while.

Not for the IWC But for casuals this will be the new Hogan turning moment in wrestling

I think people are getting too hung up on the phrasing of a Cena heel turning being defined as "fresh". I think it may be a refreshing change of pace if he turned, but the fact that people are already talking about the possibility of it happening is something of itself. If it happened, it would be expected, as opposed to moments like Hogan or Austin turning heel.

Correction..Only IWC people are expecting or thinking Cena might turn and so for us it wouldn't be too much of a shock

Well that doesn't really matter, does it? I mean WWE, much like the comics industry, has done everything. A Cena heel turn is fresh in the only way that matters. Cena's lame ass character is retooled.

True, the average viewer, or even the younger audience is not aware of anything that goes on behind the scene. But I feel like this is a case where they are either building it up, or teasing a heel turn, so it's still not completely unexpected. They've basically turned him into the face who would be willing to do anything to get a win, so whether it's a low blow, a chair shot, or some outside interference, Cena is being made to be the one who will most likely rely on some kind of advantage because he's more desperate for the win.
