The Wrestling Thread has much larger nipples

Last night Impact held an event called Emergence for their Plus special. It ran from 7pm-10pm.

CM Punk coming out in AEW was a nice start. I was hoping for a followup where he would interact with Sting and Darby Allin. Since it didn't happen and Punk will be in Dynamite, I want to see how well AEW utilizes Punk long-term and how much will he, Sting, and Darby will be in Dynamite.

Sting Vs. CM Punk is a dream match that needs to be booked carefully.

Right now, I could care less about SummerSlam other than Alexa Bliss reminding me of Harley Quinn.

I think that window has passed unfortunately. Sting would break himself.

Brood Edge!!!

I loved this entrance and this theme as a kid.

SummerSlam has been trash so far.

They just pulled a "Kofi" on Bianca Belair.

And that’s the main problem Vince and Bruce have been having for years. Becky is already over and there’s no need to put a title on her so fast.

You build up to the big fight at the next PPV with her and Bianca, don’t just bury the woman in 30 seconds after she made history as the first black woman to win the Royal Rumble and to headline and win the title at Mania.

But again this is typical WWE bull.

If Bobby Lashley loses to Goldberg, I'm total "Team AEW" from here on out. WWE has literally held on to me by a fingernail because Smackdown has been good. I can't take much more of this bad booking.

The crowd cheering Bobby destroying Goldberg's leg is my new favorite random Summerslam moment. They are even cheering his son's asswhooping. :lmao:

Edge vs. Seth was great. Instant classic imo.

This might be the worst SummerSlam I've ever seen.

Atrocious booking all around.
I wouldn't say worse. I have seen some bad Summerslams (1995 is a special kind of bad), but I think they hurt arguably the biggest moment of the year with Becky doing that to Bianca, and Charlotte just winning the belt back is so tired. Drew/Jinder and Alexa/Eva were unnecessary and just bad. Everything else has been decently booked imo. I really liked how they handed the two early title changes with the RKBro and Priest, and I actually dug the Bobby/Goldberg thing. They went a different way with it, and it helped a lot imo.

Which reminds me, I was so worried for Damien. I thought he might have done his back. Thankfully he seemed okay.

A lot of technical issues for a brand new NFL stadium too. They need to fix that before the start of the NFL season.

A great main event (Cena can still go), followed by an all time moment with Brock showing up. Roman and Paul being freaked was perfect. The music cue was perfect. The hair was hilarious. That was amazing.

Paul Heyman being conflicted would be amazing.

I heard it was a nightmare there tonight. Their ability to process debt cards, broken toilets, etc.

Wow, it's egregiously bad when a (not-so) surprise run-in and your champion talking trash to the camera is the highlight of one of your flagship PPVS. Gone are the damn days of SummerSlams where you had Bret vs Bulldog, Bret vs Mr Perfect, Razor vs Shawn, first ever TLC Matches or even HBK vs Hogan and all the hilarity that ensued. Savage and Liz's on-screen wedding was more exciting than anything on this card.

Bad booking and not respecting the fans is going to be this company's albatross. And Sable really needs to stop doing her husband's hair.

AEW, I'm all in. Can't wait to see what happens on Dynamite on Wednesday.

Edge vs. Seth and Roman vs. Cena were great matches. I get the WWE sucks in many ways, but the idea that the old days were always glorious just isn't true. Summerslam 2002 wasn't the norm. Tonight is a top 10 Summerslam easy imo. Not because it was all time great, but because Summerslam, like Wrestlemania, were more events then proper wrestling shows. Like look at the rest of the 1991, 1992 and 1995 Summerslams. They weren't pretty. Mabel vs. Diesel was the main event in 95. One of the worst main events in WWE history.

Sorry homie. Edge vs Seth was credible, but I cringed a few times because we all know how fragile Edge is these days. Roman made that match with Cena watchable, but to consider this one of the top 10, is just no.

We won't talk about 95 besides the Ladder Match, but even the undercards on 91/92 like HBK/Rick Martel, Warrior/Savage, Warrior getting fired all made for better memories than this one. This one just felt good because they finally had it in front of people after a year of that Thunderdome, but this one wasn't even a Highway to Hell.

Give me 10 better Summerslams.

See you just named Warrior being fired as "better memories". That just doesn't make sense. Those other matches weren't any better then Priest/Sheamus tonight. It's rose tinted glasses stuff. Becky's return and Brock showing up are much bigger moments in the grand scheme then anything you mentioned.

The fact that you think one part timer's umpteenth return and a star who's return was botched by very bad booking with a squash title win (gave me Hogan WM9 vibes) and thinking it's among the greats is why WWE is in the shape that it's in now. They have done and can do much better, but tonight was just not it. I could name you top 10, but I think I'm already sounding too much like Jim Cornette (that scares me).

If they start putting Bianca in tag matches with Naomi or just disappearing like Asuka, I'm really going to be done.

AEW, don't screw this up. You have a window of opportunity.

They won't. AEW isn't perfect (far from it anyways) but they do things a lot better and things that make actual sense.

I'm a fan of Bork Lazer's new babyface look.
