You know I just got to say I haven't been following WWE or AEW as of late for that mater. Just wasn't into it. I've been following wrestling pretty much all my life and I kinda stopped maybe pretty much when covid started because I was just getting tired of it. I heard the rumblings that CM Punk was likely going to show up on AEW tonight.

So I decided to check it out and I just got to say I think AEW handled that beautifuly. Having Punk come out to start the show was a stroke of genius, Because if they saved that for the Main Event you would have the fans chant We Want Punk probably though the whole show. Now I haven't watched the rest so maybe they still did that IDK but maybe I will start to get back into wrestling maybe not time will tell,

AEW has been great to me personally. It's reminded me why I love pro wrestling. My love for it had been waning for the past couple of years, but AEW is reviving it.

And Bray Wyatt.

Very glad Punk didn’t fall into the trap. He threw a tasteful amount of shade at WWE but kept the focus on Darby and his AEW future. Very good.
Yeah I thought his comment about professional wrestling was very classy and poignant, glad we didn't get a 'pipebomb' on them.

What a great moment and the second time I popped watching wrestling recently, something that hadn't happened in a very long time. Neither were WWE related which is kind of sad to me.

I agree. You know those AEW fanboys in the crowd were ready to hate on WWE. Punk could've got some cheap pops for that.

I'm really glad to see CM Punk in the ring again, but if I'm honest I didn't really like the rest of the show.... Besides Punk, there was nothing on it that makes me want to watch next week.

CM punk apologizing is a big surprise. He has historically burned bridges with those who crossed him but it seems like he has matured.

Interesting to see how he gets along with Gallows, Colt and others he has a history with.

WWE being a passion killer for any wrestler who isn't one of Vince favourites is well known.

AEW with Punk, Bryan and Wyatt would be epic. AEW already has a stacked roster.

I'm not even the biggest Punk fan, but am happy to see him back. Great promo for his return and what a pop! He deserved it.

Like Lobo, I'm not a huge Punk fan. Actually found him to be quite the *******. So when he left wrestling I didn't miss him.

But that pop last night, that crowd reaction is something sorely missed in wrestling today. Granted, it was Chicago but it was still goosebump inducing.

And his promo was classy. He could have ripped the 'E apart and been a bitter little ***** about it but instead he threw subtle shade while taking in the crowd reaction and setting up a match already.

Alright, I'm interested in seeing where this is going.

Might be unpopular opinion but I really want Jade from AEW to win. She’s still very green but dammit her look and her charisma are untouchable.

She could be something really special if she’s developed right.

I think AEW makes a lot of mistakes but they've kept me invested unlike WWE has.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here but I love how they brought in 2.0 and using Danny Garcia. Yeah, they're losing their matches but it's to main event guys. They have been having big matches and I think they've handled their promo work very well. I liked EverRise in the 'E but didn't expect them to get far there. But in AEW, with the right backing, I can see their antics making all 3 champions. The group might be missing that one past component to really take them over the top.

I dont think any company is perfect. I don't watch Dynamite every week, but when I do watch it I never regret it. I cannot tell you the last time I said to myself "Hey Raw is on now. I want to watch it"

Man, AEW is just so much better than WWE right now. Outside the women's division, that is.

To be blunt, I think that the only real advantage AEW has over WWE is that they seek to be competent in “growing” stars rather than “creating” them, and to actually cultivate goodwill with their fans.

…And I honestly think that’s about it… and that’s enough for a very different reproduction in terms of reception.

I think WWE’s issue is Vince trying to overcomplicate what is ultimately best as an uncomplicated creative process, as an expression of his desire to make his brand bigger than any star and to express his control freak tendencies.

WWE is quite capable of doing the natural, organic, and crowd-pleasing booking, and on a dime as well; just look at how quickly they threw together Bryan and Kingston’s Wrestlemania runs. Vince just doesn’t want to, because he wants it to be a scientific formula that he can plug in on demand, and refuses to acknowledge that the audience has different tastes than him.

As I thought, Punk was 100% showing up on Rampage last night. There was no way that AEW built up all this goodwill among wrestling fans to mess everything up by not having him show up.

Their main issue is the booking of the Women's Division. For some reason, when a female wrestler or 2 is part of recent WWE cuts, they don't sign that female. They have added Thunder Rosa, who is really good and will probably end up signing Kiera Hogan, who is also really good but neither have come from WWE. Their main issue has been the use of foreign wrestlers, specifically Joshi. They had plans to use a lot of Joshi wrestlers to fill out their women's division. Well for obvious reasons, they haven't used many of them. They have used Hikaru Shida a lot (she's been wrestling on their secondary shows), but she lives in the states now. I don't even remember the last time they used Riho. They used Maki Ito only like twice before she left for Japan. For whatever reason they choose not to sign any released WWE females, even after their 90 days has come and gone.

AEW though might be seeing the light when it comes to their Women's Division. There's one former WWE talent rumored to be the Joker in the upcoming Women's Battle Royal at All Out, whom if she actually signs would be the biggest signing of their Women's Division:

I'm not happy Kiera Hogan is there to job to the stars so far but I am very happy she's there. She was a major standout in Shine when they ran with Evolve and having her on the roster would help AEW greatly.

I think AEW has a lot of potential talent in their undercard that they are hurting by not giving them any wins. Bear Bronson could have reasonably won against Darby Allin and Allin would have lost no steam from it but damn would that have done wonders for Bear Country as a whole. The Wingman keep having to put others over when they could easily be booked as a solid midcard heel unit. I'm glad that at least Diamante, Garcia and 2.0 have wins over lower talent. But I'd take Baron Black as a bigger threat if he has 2 or 3 wins under his belt.

Seriously, push Diamante already. Diamante can definitely put on better matches than most they have her losing to.

Is no one watching SUmmer Slam?

Becky Lynch might be a slightly bigger star then Sasha. :hehe:

What a moment. :atp:

So uh, considering the Becky/Bianca match,, Becky's arms are still pretty small (she looks amazing but not in ring shape) and Sasha was missing for the past week, I am of the upon that Sasha is either pregnant or has COVID. The one other possibility imo, is that Sasha knew this was going to happen, and didn't show up for work again. :funny:

They should of just did a triple threat and had Becky pin Carmella. But I do get what they were going for, where Becky as the vet took advantage of Bianca who was overwhelmed by both disappointment (Sasha absence) and hype (Becky's return). I think it worked rather well and Bianca's acting was on point. But people are going to be upset about it, so probably not the best way to go.

Last night Impact held an event called Emergence for their Plus special. It ran from 7pm-10pm.

CM Punk coming out in AEW was a nice start. I was hoping for a followup where he would interact with Sting and Darby Allin. Since it didn't happen and Punk will be in Dynamite, I want to see how well AEW utilizes Punk long-term and how much will he, Sting, and Darby will be in Dynamite.

Sting Vs. CM Punk is a dream match that needs to be booked carefully.

Right now, I could care less about SummerSlam other than Alexa Bliss reminding me of Harley Quinn.

I’m glad Becky Lynch is back, but wow, what a way to bury Bianca Belair in the midst of the amazing year she was having.

This is why I can’t f*** with WWE but for so long in this era.
