The Wrestling Thread is now nothing but recaps from last week - Part 71

If Jericho vs. Ziggler is early and Ziggler loses it would not surprise me Ziggler cahses in if Sheamus gets hurt very bad.

My guess is Del Rio will attack Sheamus after he loses and Zigs will cash in.

And now here's the ******ed part:

The new show will debut on August 25th and run for 30 minutes each week. The first match taped was Kofi Kingston vs. Heath Slater with Santino Marella on commentary. Saturday Morning Slam will air on The CW network as part of their Vortexx Saturday morning block of TV.

Saturday Morning Slam is rated TV-G. This is unconfirmed but it's being reported that because of who WWE is marketing the show to, there will be no wrestling moves or submission holds done to the neck or head.

What is the point of taping matches when no wrestling moves are allowed? That is 100% completely stupid. And the WWE has now officially stooped to a new ******ed low.

Morons.

KURT ANGLE THREATENS TO LEAVE TNA
by Dave Scherer @ 11:31 AM on 8/19/2012

Last night (or rather early this morning) Kurt Angle tweeted the following: "If Tna Uses Me as the top Guy I Will Stay. I Love Tna. If Not, I Will Make A Business Decision." Now, whether he posted it at 2:16 a.m. or his account was mysteriously hacked, it seems someone may be sending TNA a message.

He's going to say it was hacked. And that's what I think happens. He just signed a new deal with TNA.

What's the point of creating a show targeted for kids when we already have such called RAW and SmackDown?

They don't want to lose those kids to Mixed Martial Arts/UFC like they have with the 18-40 demo.

So Angle feels he needs to be the top guy? Dude, you're 43. There are younger wrestlers that TNA needs to back and put over than you. You've been at the top before for a long time. Move on, be someone who gives back, not a more athletic Hulk Hogan. C'mon, man, help people grow, not protect your spot.

Plus making such a vocal, public threat, that's *****ebaggery of the highest order. Stop being a *****e, you *****e.

Of course, if this is just another "hacked" (and by hacked, I mean drunk) tweet, my apologies.

Actually the 25th anniversary is next year. An anniversary doesn't occur until a year after the original eveet, and that's why the marketing for this show and WrestleMania 25 is/was idiotic.

:funny: Typical WWE, but agaisnt my better judgment I have ordered the PPV. :O

- It was recently reported by SuperLuchas that former TNA star Alex Shelley has signed with WWE. Their report did - Apparently WWE Champion CM Punk recommended Lilian Garcia for the WWE Hall of Fame at the WE '13 roster reveal event in Los Angeles yesterday. A fan wrote kudos to Punk for pushing Lilian for the Hall of Fame. Lilian replied:

"That was SO nice of him!!"

Well done Punk.
- TNA Wrestling is expected to conclude AJ Styles' storyline with Claire Lynch next week on Impact Wrestling with a paternity test segment. Lynch, who is portrayed by actress Julia Reilly, is believed to have parted ways with the promotion.
Excellent! :applaud

No doubt Kurt will have an excuse for this silliness shortly.

I'm so glad TNA is finally ending the Claire storyline. Now please let him move onto something better and enter a new feud.

I suspect Kurt was drinking again when he tweeted that. Of course not long after that tweet he posted "TNA!!" on his twitter. I love Kurt, but I wish TNA would push him into going to rehab.

Just saw Bryan vs Orton from SD, really surprised how protected Bryan was, it was booked like he had Orton beaten clean if not for Kane's interference.

Summerslam has some weird booking, by traditional booking rules Triple H, Jericho and Santino should all win tonight, but that would be stupid in context of what's best for the show going forward.

Hoping and praying that "King of the Burials" doesn't resurface tonight and does the right thing for the business and jobs to Brock.

Hoping and praying that "King of the Burials" doesn't resurface tonight and does the right thing for the business and jobs to Brock.

If Brock loses tonight, then he loses all the credibility he has left. There'd be no point of him making any future appearances.

If Brock Loses WWE might as well just dump him. 1st of all he needs this win if he's to be consider a possible threat for the UT's WM Streak and 2nd if he does lose
than all he will be is a Main Event Jobber.

Predictions:

Boom Truth - Although it wouldn't surprise me if PTP wins because WWE loves to push heatless wonders.

Sandow - He's rumored to wrestle Brodus Clay tonight and I hope he ends the streak.

Kane - Since the best match of his career at Bad Blood 2004 has been lost in the annals of time, I think Bryan will make it up to him.

Miz - They were supposed to wrestle at this very event one year ago before Rey went down with another injury so I'm glad it we're getting it. They had a great match (which is saying a lot since I think Miz is a poor in-ring worker) for the WWE Championship and Miz will get his win back tonight.

Ziggler - but keep in mind, Jericho actually has a good chance of winning this match since they're playing the "You're a loser" angle and the MITB winners are booked poorly before winning the belt as we've seen in the past with Edge, Punk, and Bryan. Again, its Jericho whose never had a problem putting over talent, but I can see WWE throwing him a bone for the lack of wins this year before he leaves again to rock out Europe.

Punk - Couldn't care less for this match.

Sheamus - although I'd love for Alberto to be champion again.

And now onto our main event of the evening:

HHH has a sh**ty record of putting over younger talent. He's coming off a high profile loss at Wrestlemania, he got his arm broken, his best friend's arm got broken who will definitely show up in an arm cast tonight and most likely interfere, and he has the option to cheat by using the sledgehammer.

Then again, Lesnar is younger, bigger, stronger, and faster. He needs a high profile win to show his return wasn't done in vain, has Heyman to help him out in the match, is the main draw for the show as he is on this year's poster, and has a submission move for a finisher unlike his opponent.

I'll be rooting for Lesnar (seriously, I'll be amazed if he pulls it off given the odds against him), but I think HHH will win. I just hope the finish is pure.

Triple H

13-time world champion (8 WWE, 5 World Heavyweight)
2002 Royal Rumble winner
Intercontinental Champion (5x)
European Champion (2x)
Tag Team Champion (3x)
1997 King of The Ring
First heel to walk out of Wrestlemania with the WWF Championship

Brock Lesnar

3-time WWE Champion
2003 Royal Rumble winner
2002 King Of The Ring
NCAA Champion
UFC Heavyweight Champion
IWGP Heavyweight Champion
Youngest WWE Champion in history
Won the main event in his first Wrestlemania

Given their accomplishments and the fact they will wrestle each other one on one for the first time ever in this dream match, this is the biggest match of their careers as Michael Cole said and I quote
The match that may very well define their legacies.

I feel so dirty, I bought both the CM Punk "Best In The World" and Daniel Bryan "YES!" t-shirts today. But one get one half off at work, plus a 50% discount on top of that. Both shirts for $20.

The predictions ends in seven minutes, so hurry up and make them in the predictions thread if you want to!

Antonio Cesaro wins US Title. Hints he'll bring back European Title.

I don't see why these guys are so "protective" of their spots. They are essentially actors, stunt men "pretending" to fight. I get why people want to be successful at anything they do, but its not like winning and losing in what amounts to a tv show is in reality being some kind of loss. You're portraying a character.

Thank goodness the Santino Marella era is over!
