She's slowly developing that "Miz" quality where the second words come out of her mouth you want to boo her, no matter what she's actually saying. That's money.

Dana's basically there to take losses for Charlotte, to help build up Charlotte's opponent without Charlotte losing champ credibility. And while Dana could use some refinement in the ring, it's a role that fits well for her in that stage of her career. We definitely don't want to see Bayley or Asuka in that role, and Eva Marie is still not good enough in the ring to even lose effectively, and the other NXT girls are a little too green and difficult to buy into as a henchwoman worthy of a Flair.

Except she was brought up to be with Emma but Emma got hurt. Sticking her with Charlotte wasn't even the second choice as she was working as Eva's henchwoman in dark matches.

Her role changed with the circumstances, such is the nature of the business. Out of the three possible roles they could have played in all these scenarios, I'd think she's landed, albeit serendipitously, on the best possible one. Putting over Charlotte's opponents is not a glamourous job, but it gives her a solidified and clear role and a chance to get used to working matches in front of a huge audience. Not sure how the Emma tag team would have turned out; it's not like there's a women's tag division to speak of. And as for being Eva Marie's henchwoman, well ... I can't think of a diplomatic thing to say about that.

If I were to make the call, I'd move AJ over to Smackdown and make him the top guy (or at least one of them anyway), whereas Rollins stays on Raw to continue feuding with Ambrose over the title (and Roman, should they continue on with him once he comes back).

Exactly, and honestly I feel like WWE goes to the "henchwomen" idea way too much as it is. If you're not actively in the title hunt, then you're either a henchwomen, or more or less irrelevant (which doesn't help grow the women's division really).

And I'm not how constantly jobbing/getting beat down just so that Charlotte doesn't is supposed to help Dana's credibility? "Hey you know what'll help her career, being a human punching bag and lackey for a less charismatic performer."

And yeah as you say, the idea that "well if it wasn't her, then it would have been someone else" is kind of an assumption without much to back it up, since "Charlotte's flunky" was never a position initially conceived (it came about later on). Also, Bayley and Asuka are more ready to stand on their own ring-wise anyway, so trying to force them into that role wouldn't work out well.

* AJ Styles and Karl Anderson beat Enzo and Cass when Enzo tapped to the calf crusher.

* Zack Ryder defeated Alberto del Rio in a quick match when he reversed the corner stomp from Del Rio into a Rough Ryder. After Ryder won, Rusev's music hit and he came running to the ring. Rusev tried to hit a superkick, but Ryder reversed and hit Rusev with a dropkick pushing Rusev into Del R. Ryder then escapes the ring.

Backlund puts Miz in the Crossface Chickenwing. Maryse starts screaming and Backlund lets go. Young's music hits, which was a new theme song

* Segment with Shane McMahon and R-Truth. Truth asks if Shane can draft Golden Truth to SmackDown and Shane said he doesn't know yet. Goldust interrupts and asks why Shane doesn't want gold on SmackDown. Goldust starts acting weird and Shane slowly walks away with Truth telling him to wait and come back

* WWE Women's Champion Charlotte announces that she will team with Dana Brooke to face Sasha Banks and a mystery partner at Battleground. Sasha must find a partner

* WWE Champion Dean Ambrose defeated Kevin Owens by DQ when Seth Rollins interfered. Sami Zayn made the save but Shane appears and announces a tag match

* Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens defeated Dean Ambrose and Sami Zayn. Owens kept distracting Sami, leading to Seth hitting the Pedigree for the win. After the match, Ambrose was outside the ring checking on Sami when Seth took the mic and told him to come in the ring for a fight. Ambrose threw Owens over the ropes and hit Dirty Deeds on Rollins. SmackDown ends with Ambrose holding his title high
