The Wrestling Thread Is The Only One Who Can Have Me - Part 226

...that's bull.

Good job screwing that up WWE.
It's interesting booking. Steph claims Rollins won so she can draft the champ. They either let him keep it or he loses it to Dean or Roman at BG and Rollins creates a new one anyway. I actually like how this ended and want to tune in tomorrow to see how they follow this up.

Match and ending should have been done in tomorrow's draft episode

It was declared a draw on the wwe network after Raw was off the air. Dean remains Champion headed into Battleground.

Well **** that then, all interest stripped away.

I assume this will ultimately result in splitting the title (I still hate that idea personally, but whatever). I also assume this was partially done so people would tune in to tomorrow's Smackdown, since most viewers probably either didn't know to go to the WWE Network for the fallout, or didn't bother to do so. I get it...but it's still an awful ending.

Also not a fan of two world titles. Just make the IC title mean more or create a Heavyweight title or something. But I'm no booker and I don't know anything about what it takes to run two different wrestling programs. I'm just a fan with an opinion.

I've Ben thinking the best way to have two main championship titles would be to have "Top Dog" credit go to the winner of a Champ vs Champ match at the Big 4 Pay Per Views, making the idea be that to be crowned undisputed champ, you have to have gold and challenge gold, with the loser's belt going up for grabs in his show.

If you traded wins enough, both show's champs would be impressive, and it could play well to have someone with a beef with, say, Raw's Champion , target and be a super heel to Smackdown's champ so they can get a shot at someone else.

And eventually I'd expand the idea of the Champ Vs Champ challenge to include possible Cruiserweight challenges to the opposing show's champion, and the same with the Intercontinental. Keep the options open and setup literal David Vs Goliath matches.

We're reminded how fake this fake wrestling is by a stupid finish that just so happened to occur prior to a brand split. How convenient!

Like the brand split wasn't enough reason to have two heavyweight titles anyway.

I'm fine with splitting the titles. Honestly I was never onboard with unifying them to begin with and it's not like unification has made the product any better (if anything it's gotten worse). And Smackdown feels more irrelevant than it's ever been (to the point that I barely tune in anymore).

Plus logistically it's just easier to work with a title on each show, and you minimize the potentially of burning your champion out/getting him injured (since he doesn't have to essentially do double the workload).

My idea is to treat the brands as mostly separate and:

-Raw gets the WWE Championship, the IC Championship, and the Women's Championship (although if that moved over to SD, I wouldn't really complain).

-Smackdown gets the WHC, the US Title, and the reactivated Cruiserweight title (since I really want that back and it'd instantly set SD apart from Raw if it's a cornerstone of the brand). Although I could like with them doing away with the US title (since the IC title can serve both functions really) if they'd bring back the Cruiserweights.

-The Tag Team Titles would float between both brands.

EDIT: I see that they're bringing back the CW's on Raw. It's cool that they're back, but they'd be better off on SD imo. If they're doing this, then I'd prefer to see the Women's title moved over to SD instead.

You remind me how much I actually miss Mark Maddens articles on Wrestlezone

I was never too bothered with it either way. I was fine with two titles and didn't think unifying them would automatically make them better. When we got one world title I was fine with that too and didn't get particularly excited about it being split again.

It's always about booking and how the titles are treated and how the champions are treated when it comes to the titles value and importance. Give the champs the opportunities to make those belts look amazing. Have grand competition for them. Dont make the world champions secondary.

I just hope the other belt is at least inspired by the big gold belt and carries its lineage. If we get another title it should be one that has some history instead of starting from scratch.

Mmmmm...Becky. I was t that high on her at first but now? One of my favorite women in WWE.

Oh I'll go one step further on that, they should just bring back the big gold belt. It's an iconic design with a lot of lineage/history behind it. Plus it looks cool.

I want the 1988-1998 "Winged Eagle" Championshp personally. It can still be called the World Heavyweight Championshp if they want because it has "World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion" engraved on it.

I can't post it because of the language but everybody should checkout Kenny Omega's speech at the G1 press conference.

That ending was pretty much to set up 2 Titles on Raw and SD.

That's what I was thinking. Seth Rollins will be your new World Heavyweight Champion!

CoughAJStylescough, Let Rollins keep feuding with Ambrose for now.

I am sick of watching Ambrose reverse every move by that rebounding of the ropes stuff,he did it 4 times against Rollins in the title clash,it's not even cool to me anymore.

The result will probably set up 2 world titles for RAW and SD but then in Battleground what will be the triple threat match for?

I actually thought he did it the best he's done it in awhile last night.

It only works when he's already close to the ropes. It looks dumb when he falls backward ACROSS the ring into the ropes.
