The Wrestling Thread Is The Only One Who Can Have Me - Part 226

Moving to Thursdays is absolutely the smart move for TNA.

Thursdays on Spike were when they had their highest sustained ratings (their highest single rating was the first episode of their ill-fated attempt to go head to head with Raw, but the show quickly cratered after that), and it's the only day of the week without much competition nationally

Monday: Raw on USA, ROH on Fite TV/rohwrestling.com (paid members), Paragon on Fite TV
Tuesday: Smackdown on USA, Main Event on Hulu
Wednesday: Lucha Underground on El Rey, ROH on Comet, NXT on WWE Network, Paragon on Tuff TV
Thursday: Impact on Pop, ROH on rohwrestling.com (free members)
Friday, NJPW on AXS, Superstars on WWE Network
Weekend: ROH in syndication (Sinclair stations, Fight Network, NESN, etc)

Brock vs Orton at Summerslam? Oh hell to the yeah, An actual dream match of mine

It's a match I've wanted to see for a long time.

But who's gonna be the heel in the match?

Lesnar would in no way look weak. They've basically let him run through a big chunk of the WWE locker room since his return. Triple H, CM Punk, The Big Show, John Cena, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, etc. And even his defeats have had caveats/outs to them.

They basically let him come in every few months, wrestle a match and look like an unstoppable monster, and then leave. So him eating a loss to Orton ain't that big a deal in the grand scheme of things really.

If Orton wins the match, it won't be clean. They wouldn't let Cena, Taker, or Reigns beat him clean, so I doubt they'll let anyone else have that honor anytime soon.

I actually agree with this. It's not like either guy is a brand new signing from another company or an up-and-comer from NXT looking to build a career. These are two of the biggest names in the industry, two multiple time world champions and two future Hall of Famers. Either guy could take a loss and be able to move on quickly.

I feel like it'd make more sense for Orton to win since it's his first match back after being gone for so long (and he's a full-time, so it's more important to him overall in that way as well).

I totally agree with this. The very top guys on the totem pole had a hell of a time beating Lesnar and even when they did it was usually with some kind of help or tricks and they looked beat to hell when it was over. If Orton does win clean he's gonna have to come out of it looking like he took an a** kicking.

Just hard to believe they'd give that to Orton after protecting Brock so strongly. If they give that kind of win to anyone it'll be for someone they have big plans for. Maybe that's Orton but it just depends on how big their plans are for him coming back.

I think th only person that will end up beating Lesnar clean will either be Owens or Samoa Joe, if WWE ends up passing the "beast" mantle to him when he arrives.

Yeah. Owens has more he can accomplish. I'd say Strowman but who knows if he will ever be good enough in the ring to get something like that much less while Lesner is still with the company.

Not Orton. He could use a big win to make him feel like a big deal again. He hasn't been that important in awhile. Ever sense guys like Punk, Sheamus, Bryan, and The Shield came along. I mean even when he was Champion last time it was all more about Triple H with Orton being his surrogate.

Agreed. It feels like Orton has dropped down to that tier between main event and upper midcard through a combination of poor booking, screw ups on his part, injuries, and just getting lost in the shuffle. At one point he was much higher up star power wise.

So Summerslam could have Styles vs. Cena II and Lesnar vs. Orton?

Did hell freeze over?

Summerslam is already better than WM 32, and we've only had one match announced.

I just wonder what the wwe title match will be. Ambrose/Reigns?

with the whole "black lives matter" and the size of some of these black pro wrestlers, I wonder if they've ever been pulled over by police. I am interested in hearing the opinions of guys like Moose, ACH, Bobby Lashley and others outside of the WWE because I don't see any black wrestler in the WWE talking about this for fear of trouble from management.

When did WWE get anti ass shots? They used to love those. New Lana photoshoot and video was just put up and the pan up every time she turns around. :(

Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho's interactions are funny. Loved it this week on Smackdown.

Samoa Joe looks like he could be a real credible opponent to Lesnar.

I think Lesnar could lose to Joe and people would buy it.
I've never been an Orton guy.

Me neither. Orton bores me most of the time.

The only time I found Orton remotely interesting was when he was the legend killer and punted people in the head.

One of two things will happen if Zack Ryder wins the US Title this Monday:

1. Lana will interfere and Rusev will knock her off the apron (by accident)

2. Sheamus will interfere in the match, costing Rusev the title by distraction

What are the odds of the Orton/Lesner match ending in a No Decision or by disqualification? The way theyve been building Lesnar up the last few years its hard to see him lose cleanly.

I could see that if they ever bring him to the main roster. There was a time when Joe was seen as a guy who could take on anyone and look tough. TNA wasted all that but I've heard great things about his work in NXT.

The last time I saw him as a truly credible top guy was during his build up in 2008/09. The McMahons and the Schnoz of Schnozes ruined that. Since then I've also found him boring or he's never built up much momentum for long.

I guess I just view Orton differently, personally. I see him as something of an all-purpose/Swiss army knife kinda guy. He can be involved in the upper midcard, yes, but if he shows up on Raw or Smackdown a day or two after SummerSlam and RKOs Ambrose (or whoever the champion is), I can accept him as a participant in a world title program. Even if he lost to Lesnar.

And I'm saying this as someone who has never particularly cared for Orton. Dude generally bores me to tears.

Punk said him and Kofi got pulled over all the time.
