The Wrestling Thread Is The Only One Who Can Have Me - Part 226

Tonight is the night for Lucha Underground, The 2 hour season finale!

I'm excited yet sad because S3 is not being aired until at least october according to many reports but well at least that's better than january.

I want this to happen, but it won't imo. They will bring her to RAW if she is the secret partner on Sunday.

Not necessarily. Battleground is neither a Raw or SD show; she can show up to kick some ass, then show up on SD as a "free agent signing" on Tuesday. That leaves Sasha to continue her feud with Charlotte by herself without the storyline having to account for the heavy fan favorite Bailey.

Either Kane must REALLY love the business or he needs the money. I mean, he's the last REAL Attitude Era guy hanging around.

He loves the business like JBL. They got a lot of money so they don't need to be there, they just want to.

From what I've seen of Kane, he comes off as one of those guys who actually saves his money, unless his outside business ventures are going belly up. He's quite intelligent in real life, has a fairly light schedule, gets paid good money to do a job he likes, and probably has a good future backstage should he wish it after he retires. Not bad for the lovechild of Lurch and Fester.

It's about time I started getting caught up.

It was obvious Raw would get better treatment as soon as the announced the three to two draft picks. Even if Raw is an hour longer it didn't need to be like that. Everything should have been spread out evenly. As it is this just reinforces the perception that's been there for years. I was hoping certain guys would get strong pushes on Smackdown but with Cena and Orton there they will still get them but maybe not as much as the could have. Cena working a reduced schedule will help with that some.

I just want Smackdown to be the "wrestling" show. That way with Raw staying a three hour abomination of gaga and bad comedy skits I'd have something to look forward to.

So with the draft happening again, are they bringing back any titles? Or is this draft different than the previous ones they've had?

I really would've preferred Cesaro and Owens on Smackdown. More opportunities there. The rest I'm okay with I guess.

Strowman shouldn't be separated from the Wyatts right now.

I hope you are right. That would definitely work for me.

Will there be a draft once a year like with the old brand extension?

Cesaro agrees.

In terms of shifting the rosters around, the nature of the storyline relationship between Shane and Steph makes it easy for wrestlers to go from one show to the other now. Shane shucks and jives to the ring, or Stephanie does her power-strut, and he or she announces a "major free agent signing" they've concocted as a major coup against their "competition." Wrestler A's music hits, he or she runs to the ring, the rosters are rebalanced and it totally makes sense, insofar as wrestling storylines go.

Brand predictions for those undrafted when they come back:

- Luke Harper (Smackdown)
- Tamina (Smackdown)
- Nikki Bella (Smackdown)
- Emma (Raw)

Ryback is gone and I see no use for Rosa Mendes when she returns. Taker is a special attraction now and the Rock well.......they are only keeping him under contract until he headlines Next Year's WWE Hall of Fame as I don't think he'll ever compete ever again. I think Tyson Kidd is finished.

As for Heath Slater, apparently, he went undrafted as a "joke." He'll probably end up on Raw.

New Day and Enzo & Cass being on the same show is ridiculous.

Owens and Zayn on the same show is ridiculous.

Orton and Cena on the same show is ridiculous.

Breaking up the Wyatt family...ridiculous.

I mean, it's not rocket science. Spread the wealth evenly amongst both shows, make 2 of the 4 championships exclusive to one brand (IC/Women's to Smackdown & US/Cruiserweight to RAW). Make Tag Belts for Smackdown. Ambrose retains at Battleground, bringing the belt to Smackdown. Steph GIVES Rollins the new RAW Heavyweight belt and begins a tournament to crown a new #1 contender.

13 year olds who play WWE video games could do it better.

I think Luke Harper will go to Raw while the rest goes to Smackdown

So after NXT Back to Brooklyn, the NXT Women's Division will have nobody of relevance besides Asuka.

With NXT mentioned with guys like Roderick Strong, Adam Cole and Jay Lethal, I am surprised that no women outside of the ones they bring into NXT have not been mentioned.

I want Slater to remain undrafted for at least one full year. He can still show up on both shows, trying to sign himself into matches, maybe even wearing various disguises and gimmicks, and getting his ass kicked.

I understand why they didn't bring up Asuka. I don't think they want to completely gut the NXT women's division by sending all the top talent up in one go.

They need to either build up Liv Morgan, Ember Moon, Aliyah, Peyton Royce, Billie Kay, Daria, Mandy Rose, Nikki Storm and Sara Lee and fast or......

sign a certain former TNA Knockout.....Velvet Sky.

If the next signing class is Indie Heavy, let's hope that there are a few women in there.

Finn Bálor will likely debut on Raw but when will the demon debut? I'm guessing Summerslam!?

What good does signing someone who can't wrestle and is 35 do for a brand with the identity of NXT?

She has the name value, although that may be a bit debatable.

If she does come in, it'll be in a role like Maryse and Lana I think.

Remember that NXT is fundamentally a developmental league. Non-WWE veterans are of course part of that, but one must consider what value they bring to the developmental goals of the show. I don't see what value Velvet Sky brings to the NXT women's division in that respect.

If worse comes to worse, they can still bring up Blue Pants temporarily, and I'd like to think that Coach Sara #1 or Coach Sara #2 are still in ring shape, and can compete if necessary to build up that division until the younger talents there get better.
