Oh cool, I need to bookmark that page.

Will dive back into Witcher 3 and Gears of War multiplayer.

I've seen some other sites list Sunset Overdrive as X enhanced. but until I see it on Major Nelson's list, I won't consider it official.

Are there many games you already own you're looking forward to trying out?

there are a few. like Diablo III, Rise, Skyrim, and Sunset.

as for Rise, I did another quick test today on my Pro, this time using the "Enhanced Visuals" mode instead of 4K mode. That did seem to help make background stuff sharper/clearer, however, I have no idea if it's still in 4K or pseudo 4K or whatever. Couldn't tell any change in resolution, but stuff seemed a bit clearer and sharper.

oh, and I unfortunately ran into another issue with my S. was playing an extended session of Street Fighter IV last night and realized my controller might be busted. :(

I noticed when doing the sweeping fireball, uppercut motions, sometimes the D pad would "stick" making it hard to complete the motion. Like mid roll motion, it would get stuck or stick instead of being smooth.

Not surprisingly, this isn't the 1st time I've had issues with the default Xbox controller. One other time, I had D pad issues, too. I think one of the buttons was nonresponsive or something.

sigh.........so I've got a noisy fan and now a potentially busted default controller with this unit. The good ol' X Knight Xbox luck continues, I see...

Oh nice choices.

Controllers break down a lot more than consoles. I've been through about 10 360 and X1 controllers and 4 PS3 ones (With much less use). One button or something will eventually stop working or a stick will get loose when you play enough. That's why I don't like spending loads on novelty controllers.

I normally have good luck with controllers. just like I normally have good luck with consoles. Except for anything Xbox related it seems.....lol. I swear, there must be some kind of anti-Xbox hex or curse placed on my gaming room. haha.

and yeah, you expect them to break down after some time. but for something barely a month old? that's a little too soon.

sigh.......fortunately, my warranty includes a one time replacement for a controller. so I guess that means another trip back to the store.

Oh yeah, I didn't realise it was just a month old. That's crap. Anyway that's what warranties are for. Just means you should get a newer one that lasts a normal amount of time. You can only have so much bad luck lol. (unless you believe in ghosts, aliens and zombies ;))

don't believe in zombies. but I do believe in ghosts and aliens. :cwink:

Damn I only added that in at the end on a whim. I should have left it at vampiric, 3 headed Cerberus hellhounds.

we'd all be screwed if vampiric, 3 headed Cerberus hellhounds roamed the earth. :o

though that would make a pretty badass video game monster. Hey, maybe MS can use that as a basis for a new exclusive IP. :oldrazz:

At least it would be a cool way to go out.

I'd fund that game myself!

Aside from the differences being enough to fully convince me that I Need the X, seeing that game so many times has also really got me excited for it and the next TR game.

the next TR game will be timed exclusive on the PS4 for a year. :o

just kidding........lol.

oh, btw, when you are using your Xbox, do you randomly get signed out of your profile or randomly get disconnected from Xbox Live?

I don't get signed out really and don't get disconnected often but sometimes yes. Was much more common on 360. That's an internet thing. Sometimes internet can drop and you notice in gaming or even just being online as you need a continuous connection, unlike for surfing the internet or something where you just need a connection when you search and download a new page.

ah, good to know. thanks.

it's just weird ( and frustrating ) that it only seems to happen to the Xbox One and not to any of my other devices.

ah well. hope the X has a faster, more powerful, and more stable wifi chip in it.

Hopefully it will have a faster, more powerful everything in it! One thing I like about gaming as opposed to books, comics, and even TV shows and films for the most part, is that the tech keeps getting better. If you go away for a few years when you come back things have moved on. We'll soon be 4 years into this gen and I can imagine that with the next gen, 4K, HDR and a decent frame rate will be par for the course. Will be good once getting past these technical obstacles is out of the way as they can then push forward in other graphical and gameplay areas.

yeah, it's crazy to think that just a decade ago, I was getting into the 360 and PS3 and upgrading my ancient CRT tv to a 1080p HDtv.

Some motivation to be healthy and live long! If you make it another 50 years that's probably another 7 console generations! The equivalent of the PS11, (even if there are no console generations what we get should be equivalent to what a PS11 might have been). Plus all the accompanying developments in TV and audio tech.

haha. yeah.

I think by then, VR/AR tech will be more widespread and integrated into our gaming lives.

Like the anime series Sword Art Online and its sister series Accel World.

I don't know if you're familiar with those anime shows, but the VR/AR integrated gaming worlds they depict are both exciting and scary at the same time.

I'm not familiar with them no. I just don't see VR outright replacing traditional gaming even it works very successfully alongside it.

VR/AR may not replace traditional gaming, but I think it will be more commonplace and integrated. Just like we can't imagine a console without a controller, I wouldn't be surprised several decades from now, a VR/AR device will come packed with every console.

Basically the premise of Sword Art Online (SAO) is that in the near future, VR tech has advanced to the point where it can directly interface with your brain and nervous system, thus allowing you to "feel" like you are in the gaming world, offering a much more immersive gaming experience.

The latest gaming craze is a popular VR MMORPG called Sword Art Online. Millions of players around the world have been lining up to buy the game on release day, eager to don their VR headsets and journey into the fantasy world. However, once they log on, their experience quickly turns into a nightmare.

The creator of the game, in a sick twisted social experiment ( to fulfill his own childhood fantasy of an immersive fantasy world ), has disabled the log out button in the game. The players are essentially trapped in the VR world. According to the creator, the only way to escape and return to the real world is if you beat the final level/boss of the game's dungeon.

If you die in the game world, you'll die in the real world ( since the VR headset connects directly to your brain/nervous system ). If you or someone else tries to remove the headset in the real world, it will self destruct and fry your brain and thus kill you.

So, iow, all those players are stuck in this VR fantasy RPG game that has suddenly turned into a very real game of life and death.

I'm simplifying the show, but that's the basic premise.

Sounds interesting! Also sounds similar to The Matrix. I think VR could go big and could complement what we have now very well.

for VR/AR to really take off, the price needs to come down and the tech needs to get smaller with less wires.

I see Sony just reduced the costs of their PSVR bundles. And I think the other VR guys have slashed their prices, too.

MS is also trying to get out cheaper/affordable VR headsets. Plus they've got HoloLens. Which hopefully will all come to the X at some point in the future.

Indeed, that's the premise of Accel World, the sister series to SAO.

Accel World is implied to exist in the same world/timeline as SAO, set several decades into the future after the events of SAO.

By that time, VR/AR tech has improved to the point where instead of wearing bulky headsets, you just wear a sleek AR enabled "collar" around your neck. And just like every one today has a smartphone, in Accel World's timeline, every kid/person wears one of those AR collars. It's basically replaced the smartphone, and the AR interface is how they communicate with each other, learn at school, buy stuff, interact with the world, etc.

And just like we have AR gaming crazes like Pokémon Go, in Accel World, the AR gaming craze is a game called Accel World, which is basically like a dystopian mech/armor suit battle game with very real world turf wars for the kids.

I actually think the future will be closer to Accel World than SAO.

I think AR has more practical real world applications than just straight VR. Google glass didn't exactly take off. But I think something like that represents the future. especially if they can shrink the tech to something less intrusive like the collars worn in Accel World.
