BvS The Zack Snyder Validation Thread (big rant)

I hope we see a return of that and a departure from the "grounded" **** of MOS.

I want ridiculous crazy-ass comic books images on acid with deep colors and sharp delineation.

This.

For me, what was so refreshing about Snyder was the way he took the Sin City philosophy (i.e., using the actual comics as your storyboards) and really ran with it in 300, and to a lesser extent in Watchmen.

MOS felt like an unclear vision. Sort of like bits of several different versions of the film were cut together. Perhaps this was (partially) due to the jump from adapting a single story (as in 300 and Watchmen) to adapting a larger mythology by culling bits from all over the 70+ year history. Maybe Goyer's characteristically heavy hand with themes didn't help at all.

Since it really seems like the story draws heavily from TDKR, maybe this will help again.

I also think I'm just ready to see a DC film that isn't so rooted in "gritty realism."

I don't see the point in hating someone because they made a movie you don't like, especially when it's someone as welcoming as Snyder. :funny:

It's definitely not fair but I certainly have that with Joel Schumacher :D Batman and Robin is not only a big steaming ****box but it was also such an incredibly lazy movie that was also admitted to being essentially a toy commercial. It's some people's dreams to be an director and this guy had the chance and knowingly turned in a crap pile. I don't wanna see any movies with that guy at the helm. It's coming close for Michael Bay due to T4.

However for Snyder he hasn't done that. Say what you will about Sucker Punch but he still put his full 100% into it. I cant see how you can hate someone who, whether the final product sucks or not, puts their all into it.

I like Snyder, but other filmmakers should get a shot at the DC throne.

Yes, after Zack does his Justice League trilogy.

I don't think there's any director in the genre as expressive as he is right now with the medium. On the other hand, I'd like a bunch of different tones.

I don't think Snyder wants to go anywhere lol, he loves what he's doing right now, he gets to play with all his childhood toys in real life! and get paid for it! :D

Lucky bastard..

I'd love to see Gilliam or Aronofsky do The Sandman. Brad Bird or Lord and Miller for Flash. Ed Zwick for Wonder Woman. Cuaron for Batman.

Honestly I hope the guy quits after JL, that's got to be enough for him. I wouldn't want him to do ALL the JL movies.

From what he's said...I'm not sure that'll happen. He loves what he's doing.

I hope WB expands its horizons. Just relying on the same people is limiting.

I'm sure loads of them do, but doing more than 3 big budget studio flicks in a row must be exhausting, especially if Snyder has more passion projects that he wants to do, you can imagine after these movies the studio will let Snyder do more of what he wants to do.

That being said, I really want other people to work their own magic on these movies.

I swear he said in an interview that this is his passion project.

Nobody hates Snyder. It's just his flaws are glaringly obvious to some.

Do people hate Snyder? I've met people who are absolutely convinced that Snyder's films are judged unfairly and he is criticized more than anybody else. Again I dont find their arguments to the contrary very believable because criticism is part of the entertainment industry, its noted for its rejections. So I think when people say that Snyder is hated, I think its an overstatement. People will judge his films just as they judge any other film.

Yes but directing all the JL films? Doubt it. Although, he might stay on as an executive producer, which is more logical and he would still be attached to the project. There's obviously no chance he'll direct all the DC films, so we will have a lot of creative decisions to look forward to.

Even if one doesn't like Snyder, that person has to acknowledge Snyder's incredible gift for visuals & action.

I highly doubt you'll find anyone who would deny that Snyder can craft amazing visuals. The problem is there are many who believe that's all he is capable off.

I think it's very much an overstatement. There's a defensiveness towards Snyder from his fans that is more or less unrivaled. Even Nolan's fans don't get that emotional.

Have you met Nolanites?

I predict that Nolan fans would give the same reaction if Nolan received comparable hate to that Snyder receives.
