The Dark Knight Things you noticed the second time

I'm laughing to myself thinking just how stupid the ferry captain's line "We're still here. That means they haven't killed us yet either" is. It's the only bad line in the movie. :lmao:
I actually liked that line. :o

That's a great line and delivery. It's one of the moments that stuck out ot me the most during that scene. You can just see it in his face what he's struggling with. It's very real diologue people. That's us pretty much in a situation. Yeah, we're gonna have some Oscar worthy diologue here when we're trying to decide to blow up the other boat. What the hell would we say? The same things they're all doing. Nothing fancy.

I actually noticed this the first time, but the Joker kills an awful lot of black people in the movie. You have Gambol's assistant at the meeting (the magic trick), Gambol and two associates in the pool hall, Commissioner Loeb, the traffic cop he shoots with a shotgun from his Slaughter truck, and the policeman who comes back to check on Harvey's hospital room.

But not Morgan Freeman. He's God.

I felt that way at first, then I looked at it as a positive that at least there are alot of blacks in the movie to begin with. The original Commissioner Loeb from the comics isn't black, The Joker came in with a Black Goon to kill Gambol, Tiny Lister had a small but powerful role to the story and Fox played a very pivotal part in this film, and BB as well. Compared to other superhero flicks, I'd say we were represented rather well. :woot:

To think of it, TDK had a lot of races in it, with a hispanic Mayor and Ramirez, Lau, the Chechen, the Italians, I was glad to see all of that, it goes a long way to show a true living, breathing city

^ I completely agree. It just felt like an actual city mixed with all those races and such.

Lots of dogs too...But only one mention of cats. Thats racist.

Is it just me, or are the same basic clown mask designs used throughout the entire movie? I swear that I can see the Joker's bank robbery mask (Bozo) with a different paintjob in the Pruitt building. And I think Happy's mask (safecracker bank robber) is used by a goon when the Joker crashes Wayne's fundraiser. I'm not complaining or anything, but I never really noticed how similar the faces look. But I guess it would be a lot easier for the costume department to come up with 5 or 6 basic designs and then give each mask a unique paintjob.

Well if you want justification from the film, Joker did leave with his Bozo mask so I dont see why he wouldnt have it re-used. Plus we dont know where the masks came from in the first place. They dont look like the kinda thing Joker would have sat down and hand crafted each individually probably bought/stolen so then theres every possibility there would be double ups of same mask shapes.

Maroni's guy about to get in the car, using the back door on the driver side, taking a hit from the back before collapsing off screen. And that the guy who opened the door for Maroni was looking that way and should have seen it but didn't a say word.

That's not as bad as the off screen dude who shouts "Things are worse than ever!" Yikes.

Also, Brian Douglass was pretty terrible when he's telling off Batman in the garage.

i mainly hated the voices of Jokers robbers at the beginning of the movie. The accents seemed so poorly done and almost had this parody like feel to them. Mainly the guy that said "where did you learn to count?!" and "I'm makin a withdrawal here!". it just seemed like a bad, cheezy voice actor from a cartoon.

i actually notice this in a lot of Nolan's movies, for some reason his extras' voice acting just stinks... imho.

I feel the opposite of you: I absolutely loved the OTT Joker goons. It was like watching a cartoon, but in a good way. The other extras were a little off, I'll give you that. I especially thought at first that the actor playing the Chechen was hamming it up*, though Hollywood always seems to have struggled to portray Eastern European accents without sounding ridiculous.

*Fear not, Chechen lovers, his accent has grown on me over time and I don't mind him anymore.

Por que? It's so...redundant. It would have been better if the guy had said something like "We're still here. That means they're going through the same thing on the other boat."

I totally agree! I felt like I was a little kid again. It set up a good vibe for the film. Kinda set it up for the superhero comic universe.

"They haven't killed us yet either" is more powerful. It really gets down to the essence of what they were voting to do - murder fellow human beings.

That's also pretty redundant.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I noticed the surprised expression on Bruce's face when he was getting ready to turn himself in. Previously I thought that Harvey and Batman had come up with the plan for Harvey to pose as Batman, I never noticed until a day ago that Bruce had no idea what Harvey was going to do.

I agree with Anita. Its a great line that shows the emotions of those people and their faint hope that they might survive. This line is far more powerful than the one Drizzle suggested and that's the point.

He obviously didnt. That whole scene was masterfully acted by Bale. You could feel his emotions as the crowd was shouting for Batman to turn himself in. He seemed like a man about to be hanged, a boy about to ask a girl out, etc. And when the time came, you could almost hear his heart beating when suddenly.... "I'm the Batman."

DAYUUUUUM!

QFT. Bale's mastery in this movie was definitely in his facial expressions. Subtle yet so effective.

Yea I loved his cheeky little smirks and that. The way he completely burned Harvey at the restaurant was funny as well! :D
