The Dark Knight Things you noticed the second time

I guess. I can't remember, did Dent and the cops know that the Joker was using Maroni's resources?
That's a good question actually. I would assume so because Joker "stole" Lau from the MCU when he escaped, Gordon comments on this and realizes that the Joker planned to be caught precisely to get to Lau. I don't know if Harvey ever knew though.

i don't know if this has been mentioned, and i'm not gonna look through 72 pages, but i hate it when movies show a clock/timer which says a specific time or countdown on it, yet it doesn't play out that way.

when the bombs in the warehouse are about to go off, the timer says 41 seconds, yet it is well over a minute before they do. perhaps i frustrated myself by paying attention to the timer on my BD player, but it's a simple case of editing. they could either trim the sequence so it matches the 41 seconds, or put a different shot that has 1:20 or whatever on it.

Don't forget that not everything is happening at the exact moment you see it. There showing us clips of things happening at the exact moment but in a sequence. Both explosions that killed Rachel an Scared Dent happen at the same time but they can't show clips in split screen so they show the events happen right after the other when put on film

Lau was more the mob's accountant than Maroni's accountant, though.

Rachel and Harvey must've been held very close to MCU if the cops could reach there in only 41 seconds.

^^^i don't think that they left the MCU with 41 seconds left. if i remember correctly, they showed that shot while they were already on the way.

Ya, I don't think it's supposed to be "extremly close", just "movie close". :funny:

do you remember the part with the two guys dead and their last names together said Harvey Dent? what was all that stuff batman was doing with the brick wall and shooting at bricks at his mansion. and what was that melvin white stuff?

Yes, what about it?

what was all that stuff batman was doing with the brick wall and shooting at bricks at his mansion.

Getting fingerprints off a shattered bullet.

and what was that melvin white stuff?

It was the guy who owned the apartment Joker used to to keep the Cops hostage after he stole their uniforms. Bruce told Alfred to cross reference anyone with a criminal record who owned a property overlooking the funeral parade.

Melvin White's name popped up on the list.

Were those Melvin White's fingerprints on the bullet?

It must be, because there were four possible matches to the print, while Melvin White was the closest to the parade, and Bruce found the guards.:cwink:

Melvin White is such a cool name. Like an alias for Krusty the Clown, or something.

You're not suggesting that Melvin White was The Joker, are you?

I need to rewatch the bullet scene because I barely remember any of this.

Melvin White is a cool name but he can't be the joker as the joker has no existing prints in the system.

Also RachelDawes makes some great points about the 5 dead comment but for me the 2 cops at the hospital cannot be considered victims of Dent. Joker blows up the hospital therefore he is responsible for the deaths of anyone that dies in the resultant explosion. He states he will blow up the hospital and he does (not many villains manage that!.

As someone else pointed out Gordon believes that Dent is a hostage when they are ready to storm the building near the end. Did Gordon already know about the 5 dead at this point in the story? More than likely in my opinion which would mean that it would be impossible to include Ramirez into the 5 equation unless she has been missing since the scene in the hospital with Gordon and he could not reach her. Did he then put two and two together when he discovered that Dent had his family realising that Dent had killed others?

Using Mr.Obycyeks legendary deductive reasoning and unflappable logic I have deduced that Gordon's statement could only possibly be clarified in the next movie although I doubt it will be. Gordon has obviously received specific intelligence regarding the people killed so he can state 5 dead and he knows 2 are cops. This is important you see as lies or mistakes are very rarely specific in either real life or in fiction.

Also does Gordon consider that Dent is one of the five? It is plausible but for me this is before Batman takes the blame for his and the others deaths. I got the impression that Gordon was talking about the people Dent had killed and was not actually including Dent in that himself. Besides I also feel it was never stated that Dent was dead. I got the impression he was but it was never stated on screen and I like to think he was simply knocked out or badly injured. Wishful thinking on my part of course.

Known Aliases of Mr.Obycyek: Mr.Universe, Oby enormous willie, Big Dongocyek.

Another thing I noticed on my second viewing is arguably one of the biggest mistakes in the whole movie. Dent actually names the two crooked cops in front of both Gordon and Batman. If both Batman and Gordon enter into a pact with Dent (albeit an uneasy one as neither Dent nor Gordon trust each other) then surely they should have checked into his claims to see if they had any credibility or merit. I can understand that Gordon trusts his officers but why doesn't Batman check into this? In the scene later in the car with Gordon and Reece he receives a text message in which Batman informs him that two cops have relatives in the hospital. One of these is of course Ramirez. Yet Batman never puts two and two together? It is implausible. Batman would have researched all of Gordon's men and he would have very quickly established that both Weurtz and Ramirez were living beyond their means. Although The Joker causes total mayhem in the movie he could not have done most of it without INSIDE HELP. You see no matter how evil or malicious someone may be they still need to have the physical and mental capability to carry out the crime. The Joker is highly intelligent and very capable but he still needed help from people on the inside. Batman was very sloppy in this movie in my book and I expected better from him especially after his good work in Batman Begins.

Right. White was one of the Joker's henchmen.

If the bodies were unearthed and found to have been shot, Gordon might assume Dent killed them in order to escape. Assuming the hospital cops are the two dead cops of course.

He could've been told about Wuertz being killed and Ramirez being missing on his way to confront Harvey.

Yes, I think Gordon considers Harvey one of the victims. He says "Five people dead, two of them cops..." He didn't say "Five people killed by Harvey, two of them cops..." That doesn't mean Dent's actually dead of course. Gordon could be mistaken.

We're probably supposed to assume that Gordon undertook his own investigation and came to the conclusion that Wuertz and Ramirez were clean, at least clean enough to belong in the MCU, and Batman respected his decision. Besides, if Batman had outed Wuertz and Ramirez early on, there wouldnt've been a movie. :woot:

Gordon seemed to have realized that Wuertz and Ramirez were of questionable character but kept them in his unit anyway to help fight the mob. That is what Two-Face meant by Gordon's "deal with the devil". Though, he never knew specifically that they (or at least Wuertz) were working for Maroni until after Rachel died. Batman had a lot to deal with in the film, it's understandable that he would forget to investigate.

have you noticed that when the joker hold up his playing card at the mob meeting "here's my card", the joker on it is in the exact same position as he ends up (upside down, and the legs are similar)

Well there's footage from the trailer where the card is right side up, I assume its just they did a few takes an the one they chose was the shot with an upside down card. Who know's maybe they meant it like that but I think your looking a little to much

If they would of used the other takes of it being right side up......We could of made the connection that during most of the film he's that way as well. :funny: :p ;)

I don't know of this has been pointed out, but did anyone notice that on TDK poster, the one that has Batman's face made out of cards with Joker sayings carved into them, that some of the lines never appear in the movie? One's over his right eye: "Are we having fun yet?" Two more are on his cowl ears: "Stupid Bats!" and "Make him pay!" Do you guys think those lines were originally in the script and were just cut out?

Hmm... interesting thought there.
