Comics This is the X-Men's Manifest Destiny...

Prince doesnt dress like Prince anymore.
In all fairness, the man's gotta be pushing 50 by now. Doesn't look it, though.
i mean do some dark and questionable things with himself and his powers
Eh, I don't know. If there's one thing I hate, it's the idea that evil is hereditary. I like that Nightcrawler's dad is basically a demon, but the worst temptation Kurt's had to face is whether or not he should hit it when women flirt with him.

I dislike this part, I like the basic idea that it's the X-gene that separates mutants from normal people, throw in the supernatural bloodline to complicates the background of a character kind of clashes with the basic idea imo.

I would like that, it will at least make his character more real, not just a face with a set of powers.

But he's not really supernatural. He's just an evil mutant who happens to resemble a demon in many ways. At least that's how I like to see it. God knows Chuck Austen has a habit of writing in circles.

But Kurt has always been more than just a face with a set of powers. He has several clearly defined personality traits. He's a man of God. He's a performer who fancies himself a classic film swashbuckler. In a strange way, he has fun going on some missions with the X-Men. He's also a capable leader.

Are characters just not interesting unless they're dark and evil-fied?

I simply view him as a Demon in the way.

No, I mean 'human flaws', not dark and evil-fied, those defined personality traits you said are all the decent ones but it looks like painting an unrealistic character image to me, the good traits make a character hero, the humane flaws are the ones that that them 'real' and not just a fantasy imo.

right. and like real life, 'men of God' are truly the most evil and f&*^ed up people. So Kurt HAS to have some kind of pent up aggresion in him, waiting to let loose

In real life, men of God don't often get the opportunity to wail on bad guys every other week. I think Kurt's doing just fine with his pent up aggression.

X-Men: Manifest Destiny #2 will arrive in stores on Oct. 8 from Marvel Comics. The issue is written by Mike Carey and Chris Yost, with art by Michael Ryan and various and a cover by Humberto Ramos.

Here's how Marvel describes the issue:

"Mike Carey's Iceman saga continues as things take a dark turn for Bobby Drake with the emergence of an old, deadly foe of the X-Men. Will this spell disaster for our hero or a new chapter in the history of this original X-Man? Also, Emma Frost as you've never seen her before. And find out what Boom Boom has been up to since Nextwave!"

X-Men: Manifest Destiny #2 will be 48 pages and will cost $3.99

Oh, Bobby, that's what happened when you dated the wrong woman, hope you smarten up next time.

As with last ish, the preview pretty much covers every page of the Bobby story, and therefore leaves me not needing to buy the comic

So Juggernauts bad again now then?
After all of the work rehabilitating his character, turning around, coming on with his life and growing as a person...

....and in a 4 page story some chick in a bar says "bad people are cool" and he runs out smashing up police cars saying "ok il be bad again now"

In all fairness, during World War Hulk, Cain promised to be Cytorrak's evil little errandboy if he was given his full strength back. He did it so he'd have enough strength to defend Charles from the Royally Pissed Off Hulk, then ran away angry at himself for selling his soul to an evil god. Again.

Adding another story to justify his going bad is just... needless.

I'm wondering where the whole Iceman story will lead. Write now it just seems to be about Mystique wondering if she's still a cold blooded killer.

As for the Emma Frost story, it was too whiney. I mean, I got what the point of the story was, but it just went on too long.

Well, not being a big Emma fan, it didn't exactly knock me out either. Maybe if she didn't act like such a snob all of the time, folks might like her better.

I still think the part where she [BLACKOUT]talked about forgiveness and she got all teary[/BLACKOUT] was way too much off her character, if Emma cared about what other people think of her she wouldn't be Emma Frost at all, sure, she is in love now so she changes a bit (like she'll become caring what a handful of people, such as Scott, might think of her), but she won't change that much imo.

Emma might be a hardass ***** in her exterior, but ever since her Generation X days, she's been a softie hardcore inside. She may say she doesn't care what these people think...but she does. She does love them. That's why a turn back to the bad side would be one of the worst things to do to this character.

She doesn't have much of a reason to be a baddie at present, at least, she's not crazy right now.

What I really hated was when [blackout]she couldn't bring herself to touch Cyclops when he was sleeping[/blackout]. It was just too pathetic and melodramatic.

I may not be a fan of the character or her current use in the X-books but I can see her good pionts and strengths. Emma Frost is neither pathetic nor melodramatic. I don't think the writer had a good handle on her character.

I kinda like the fact that Emma is only vulnerable and self-pitying when no one is looking. If Emma showed a sign of weakness in front of the whole team, I'd cry bloody murder. Emma sitting up at night and telling herself "I don't deserve this" seems about right for her.

I was hoping the story would end with her killing herself or something :o

Yeah, I hate her that much

Precicely. She has become a favorite character of mine lately. I love how they show that she is insecure and vulnerable, but only when noone else is around.

When she talked to Shanna right after Messiah Complex, Shanna said that she had gone soft, and Emma said that it was only for Scott. I just feel their relationship is fantastic, and even though she grew over the course of Generation X, it seems that with Scott's help, her character has grown in a much better way.

If they lightswitch her back to evil, I will be ticked.

You and me both. I was all happy way back when she got shot and everyone thought she was dead. But then Hank put her back together again. :(

Yeah, even knowing that she has a soft interior beneath that icy-betch exterior; I still want her to go away. Her relationship with Scott seems so forced, ugh.

No, Jean and Scott seem forced. And it's only because they are the ''fairytale" perfect couple. Emma and Scott are a much more realistic couple.
