No it's not apples and oranges.

Like I said before, you're comparing a variation on a theme to swapping one thing for another (mask for make up). Joker's look has some obvious differences between the two versions, but it's still largely the same thing.

As much as I love GG...he needs major improvements for the screen. Dude wears a purple onesie.

Don't forget the Smurf hat and man-purse. :oldrazz: I'll be the first to admit that GG needs to be redesigned for the movie (I was a bit of a defender for the Raimi suit in that regard), but I believe it can be done while remaining true to the character and still look like it fits in the movie world.

Mask for makeup and permawhite big smile for scars and makeup are apt comparisons as long as the first remains a Goblin and the second remains a Clown. As long as GG still resembles a Goblin, then it's no different than the changes Nolan made. Goblin doesn't need a mask to be the Goblin and that has been seen in different comic iterations of the character (some of them being bad).

I want something scary and menacing..an all cgi Hulkblin won't do that and a thick or inexpressive mask won't do that either. Hellz, I think Dafoe would have been perfect with a painted face...his smile and eyes were creepay. Some false sharp teeth, some yellow contacts, and a dark green and black makeup with a hood that has some pointy ears would have been chilling IMO. The Orc mask up there is just eh to me.

I think its not as bad if the joker wears makeup because clowns wear makeup, but there would be no point for Green Goblin to wear makeup. I think they should make it so that in the movie he is wearing an expensive latex mask, but in reality it is jut makeup

You're talking in story excuses for the visuals. I'm talking about how it will look. I don't see it working well, I think face paint will just end up looking as silly as it did in Seige. Also, I never asked for a 'thick inexpressive' mask, but something akin to what they did with Red Skull which was applied in layers and allowed him to express more.

A Green Goblin with green paint on his face riding on a glider? No thanks.

A man that transforms into a green goblin from a serum...no thanks.

Now remember guys, key note is: Realism
Of course transforming is more realistic than a guy putting on a costume :oldrazz:

I would prefer a costume, cause he'll have more control and won't ruin his company

I'm just saying a costume makes more sense than green paint as you mentioned. Although, I am partial of him taking the serum and turning into a human-sized version of what we see in Ultimate....except, no horns, no shooting fireballs out his hands and he wears a purple attire.

Genetic alteration is apart of the world that they're establishing already with the Lizard and Spidey. It shouldn't be unexpected if they choose to go a similar route with Goblin. Since the movie is a mixture of 616 and Ultimate they might do the same for GG; making his appearance and personality 616 while his transformations are ultimate.

Thine thought is a frightening one sir Cosmic

Not really....the TRANSFORMATION taken from Ultimate could be the serum turning him into something green while his APPEARANCE taken from 616 could be him being human-sized which I've been for a while now.

In the comics does the green goblins face actually transform or is that just a crazy mask he wears?

There are a few candidates I would hopefully like to see as the new Norman Osborn and helm the Green Goblin, if given the chance. :yay:

Bryan Cranston (he would make a more iconic Gordon, but the man's a natural born talent for... anything)

Jason Isaacs

Sharlto Copley

Kevin Spacey (Lex Luther was just the wrong kind of evil for him; bring him back to Se7en and The Usual Suspects, and we have our man. Once again, another god given talent)

I am sure with Norman being kinda well off in the money department he could afford to have/make a device that he puts his face into that "vacuum forms" a skin tight "mask" with prosthetics to his face.

It's a mask. When I read the comics I always thought how weird it was that when he puts on the mask, it doesn't look like a mask but it forms so well to the face that it looks like an authentic goblin face

But now those silicon masks exist, so it's not so far fetched for a rich guy to do a mask like that

With an intelligent man like Norman, it wouldn't surprise me if he sported a prosthetic/silicone like mask to alter his features. Either that or a full face mask like many have been mentioning. I just don't him to be altered due to accidental causes.

Was reading through this thread and just came up with an idea for how he could look....it's only a really quick concept sketch coloured in photoshop so don't laugh haha...but yeah what do you think of something like this?

I gave him combats, but actually, suit trousers might look better, and the boots....well i didnt know what to do with them so i coloured them as if they were black military boots...

I don't know what to think about it, it's hard to grasp the idea from the way you've drawn it. No offence

My preference is a 616 Goblin...I like Ultimate Goblin but wouldn't prefer it onscreen. The 616 look definitely needs some upgrading though. I'm interested to see what Webb will do.

And HELL YES for Jason Isaacs as Osborn.

What if they went with a more hobgoblin-ish version, no green skin, and just called him "the Goblin"??

this way they'd differentiate from Raimis movie and wouldn't repeat having a green villain again.
