It's only been fairly recent that artists other than Simonson have been able to make Odin look cool and badass on the page. I mean, the original Kirby design is pretty out there.

Agreed with the bold. Thor's classic rogues are awesome. Ulik, Enchantress and Executioner, Mangog, Wrecking Crew, Karnilla, the list goes on; plus villains from Norse mythology (Surtur, Midgard Serpent, Hela, etc) and villains that started in the pages of Thor and moved on to be general Marvel baddies (Absorbing Man, Grey Gargoyle, Ego, etc). Great rogues gallery!

I would love to see at least a few more of them on the big screen, even if they aren't main villains.

BTW, speaking of Mangog, am I the only who likes to think of him when Thor flies through the Jotun Beast in the first film? Obviously not the same character, but I always felt like the design was a bit of a call back:

I wouldn´t take Loki and Kang over Doom. Doom is pretty awesome imo but It´s so different what you like about the charachters
I didn´t really notice Thanos until TA. I felt the need to look him up and he climbed to top 10 pretty fast.

Loki is easily on the level of Magneto and Dr. Doom when it comes to being interesting in my view, and he's the way to go when you start the Avengers because that's how it was in the comics.

When it comes to fame you could say the same thing about Iron Man, Thor and the rest of them as well. They weren't Spider-Man or X-Men. Marvel shows that it's not about just capitalizing on previous fame, it's about taking quality and keeping it quality on the screen.

I've always considered Loki to be Doom level, I'd even rank him above Magneto.

I really do like that they can't go with their mainstays and have to go all around the Marvel U to find villians we may not think of. I'm sure we will get lot's of little easter eggs in TDW since his rogue gallery is so varied

aside from that I'm quite excited for the tv spots with Agents of Shield.

I am too, but I'm also exited for AoS itself. I don't even really know much about it except Coulson lives and that in and of itself is enough for me.

I hesitate to even include Magneto on any villains list because I'm not sure that I'd consider him a villain per se. He's not really evil, he's more of a morally ambiguous anti-hero, which is what makes him interesting. As for Doctor Doom, he's just awesome in every conceivable way.

I did! I watched it!!!!

I loved how they dealt more with Loki able to play both sides in order to get what he wants! It was so sweet seeing him alongside Thor and then, sad when the inevitable betrayal happened.

Based on the hairstyle, it looks like this was taken back when he was still filming for "The Avengers".

You know, by the end of "Thor: The Dark World", I wonder which of the three directors that have had the character star in their respective films (Kenneth, Joss, and Alan) will become everyone's favorite when it comes to directing/characterizing the character on the big screen.
