Would be cool if Heimdall had the soul gem, but wouldn't that then mean there were 2 infinity stones on Asgard with the Tesseract being there as well? Going by the TDW mid credits scene with The Collector I doubt they old do that.

I just hope Heimdall has a bigger role in Ragnorak at least.

More ladies is always a good thing.

Bring on either or both! It would be rather refreshing after the snorefest that was Malekith. Casting suggestion: Natalie Dormer for Enchantress please!

I don't know anything about this site's sources, but worth a reposting I suppose:
http://www.laineygossip.com/Thor-Ragnarok-set-for-July-2017-release-date-with-Taika-Waititi-in-talks-to-direct-and-Mark-Ruffalo-to-join-cast/40910

They seem to have pulled the Cate Blanchett thing out of their ass, but this adds some more weight to the rumors of Amora or Hela appearing

Considering they got the release date wrong (It's November, not July 2017) I wouldn't put much stock in them.

Unfortunately I have the feeling that it is going to be Hela, what means another lost opportunity to see Amora the Enchantress (clearly I have the feeling they don´t care for her) even if we saw in its moment Lorelei on TV´s Agent of SHIELD (Season one).

Charlize Theron, Daryl Hannah and Uma Thurman would be great in these roles

If i read the stuff about a female role, think about Thanos and Loki and Hulk - what about Surtur?? Seems, that he won`t be around??

OK so we're more than likely getting:

Thor
Loki
Odin
Heimdall
Sif
Volstagg
Fandral
Hogun
Hulk/Banner
Jane
Valkyrie
Unknown MCU female
Thanos
Surtur

God knows who/what else they decide to throw in there. I hate to say it, but I've steadily grown more concerned with MCU overcrowding .... ever since GOTG and AOU.

I understand they're trying to be creative and unspool a lot, but for this particular property they haven't even shown they can handle the mainstays yet.

It's of course always a risk when using many characters, but while your list of course involves some more prominent characters than before that list is still shorter than the named/significant characters that are in the previous movies. Of course some will have to be put in smaller roles, but while it can be a shame not to see enough of your favorite supporting characters it can also feel richer if the small roles are still filled by relevant characters. Hopefully the focus will be on telling Thor's story and making the main arc as rewarding as possible.

We're forgetting one of the options this unknown female villain could be, instead of Hela or Enchantress: Karnilla.
The Norn were already sort of introduced in AoU, even though the name only comes up in the extended scene that was cut. But still, it's a possibility they could pick up from that.

How will Odin be handled?

WILL he even be in the film if? Hopkins displayed a lack of interest in the franchise, and the only way I can imagine them making Odin work is if scenes were already filmed, or a recast.

I'd be fine with a recast. But I hope they establish who the most powerful Asgardian is. Odin stripped Thor of his power but hopefully he can dish it out.

I really want Karnilla (see my thread about a Warriors Three one-shot), but mostly to add Balder the Brave. That being said, I find it extremely unlikely at this point.

Why?
Or did you mean the unlikely part would be the introduction of Balder?

I dont even remember what happened to Odin. Was he still asleep at the end of TDW? Where did he go?

Well, both. Karnilla is a character who hasn't really been used significantly for decades. I don't think she was really used as a villain since before Walter Simonson. Now it's possible she'll cameo, I just wouldn't hold my breath.

Well that was the big mystery of the ending. We never got told where Odin was, just that Loki was impersonating him on the throne.

While promoting Noah he said he was very happy to work with Marvel so who knows.

He was on the toilet obviously. Even gods, man. :o

We don't know what happened to Odin. LAST we saw Odin, Loki came back from the Darkworld as the Asgardain Guard and that was it. Then it was Loki-Odin at the end sending Thor to Midgard

I would not be ok with that at. all.
Yes he's a minor character, but Anthony friggin Hopkins is too big a presence it would snap me right out of the movie to see someone else in the role. I'd rather they have him for 5 seconds, turn into Hiddleston, and say "Odin is dead" than to recast him

Yeah and during the press tour for Noah he also talked about coming back for Thor 3 so there's a good chance we'll see him as Odin again.

Not true. Karnilla has been a recurring villain in Thor comics since the days of Lee and Kirby.
