Thor: Ragnarok The Official News and Speculation Thread - Part 1

This film is getting curiouser and curiouser. I certainly didn't expect this.

As long as they preserve the mythological elements of Ragnarok (and especially Surtur and Hela) I'm down with this. It certainly makes things interesting having Hulk smash his way into Asgard.

Portman never said she hated Thor 2. She moved past the Patty Jenkins stuff, was very positive during the release press tour, actively promoted the film and even talked about Thor 3 during all of it. I loved Hemsworth and Portman's chemistry in the first film. I understand it wasn't as well developed in the second but the plot was too convoluted for that. Hopefully they can get that chemistry back for the third to bring their story to some kind of meaningful conclusion.

Yeah, it would be great for them to give Sif a meaty role this time. Jamie Alexander is killing it in her new show Blindspot.

Jaimie suffered a life threatening injury during the filming of TDW which is why her role was reduced. Let's hope Waititi's film is not as unlucky this time.

Ooo, Hulk in Ragnarok. Hm, maybe Loki posses him to set it off. Maybe Thor calls him in to help with battle. Maybe he tries to find peace in Asgard away from Earths relentless military. Maybe, he needs Banners scientific expertise for something. The possibilities are endless and fun.

This is certainly a curveball that I was not expecting, but I'm definitely more excited about this movie now. I do hope that Hulk does more than just be controlled by Loki. My fingers are crossed for a role in which Hulk actually speaks.

And, of course, I'd love to see Hulk armored up.

I'm still torn about this. I love Hulk and his "rivalry" with Thor, and I always want to see more Hulk. But I really hope he doesn't take away too much attention from Thor's awesome supporting cast.
I was really hoping that this was gonna be the epic-fantasy Thor film we've all been waiting for. Its still definitely possible. So I have hope. I'm just cautiously optimistic.

Here's how I would do it:

Asgard is overrun by Surtur or something far too powerful for Thor and the Asgardians to handle on their own. Thor knows that Banner would be a valuable ally for them, but since he doesn't know where he is, he asks Heimdall to locate him. He finds Banner hiding somewhere on Earth (maybe on an island somewhere) and convinces him to help. Hulk shows up for the final battle and we get to see him do what he does best.

I'm already more excited for this than CA:Civil War! With Hulk in, I think we should definitely expect some other heavy-duty power houses like The Executioner, Mangog, Ulik, or even Beta Ray Bill!

While this is exciting, i must say I'd rather see more of the other realms, new supporting characters and old ones fleshed out a little more. Better that than the Hulk/Banner been added to the mix because Marvel seem reluctant (unable?) to give him his own solo flick.

2. Where is Jane? 2 science-y Earth characters in Asgard might be redundant, so is Portman sitting this one out and parts of her role being given to Ruffalo's Banner (obviously not the love interest part!)

I suspect they might be saving Portman for one of the Infinity War movies if she doesn't appear in Ragnarok. If i'm not mistaken she's only got one more film to go with Marvel. Better make it count while they still have her!

Awesome news about Hulk being confirmed. I was excited for this movie anyway as I loved the first, but as a big Hulk fan my excitement has been taken up a notch.

Hope Thor and Hulk fight again, maybe the movie can open with that. Then of course they team up against the villain.

So excited for this. This movie just shot up on my anticipation list tenfold.

Glad Ruffalo/Banner/Hulk will be appearing in something outside the Avengers. 2 Avengers movie, 1 Iron Man (cameo), 1 Thor, and 2 Infinity War movies (I assume he'll be in both). Those are the 6 Ruffalo signed up for. Not bad for the "Hamlet" of the MCU.
