This movie looks way too good. Where's the catch?

It's over too soon.![]()
Are we sure though? Looks like he had a shield to me.
Didn't Thor also barely shield himself from the leviathan blowing up in the first Avengers? I recall him just taking the blast.
We don't really know if he indeed grows or not. We are assuming he does because of set images and the small glimpses we have seen of him. It looks like he is 2 different sizes but we could be wrong. What would cause Surtur to grow would be most likely the "Eternal Flame" which is in Odin's vault and belongs to Surtur. Surtur has a faceplate.Do we know what causes Surtur to grow? Could it be an Infinity Stone?
Because it looks like there could be something in it's head similar to Vision.

Surfer
Just put his arm up to the blast. Cap covered the widow using his sheild to protect them.
He's also taken full hits from the Hulk, a repulsor blast point blank to his face, Kurse battered him, and he withstood the explosion of the city in AOU too. Thor's a tough cookie.
This exchange between Thor, Valkyrie and Hulk just cracks me up every time. Their reaction to each other words is just hilarious. Chris Hemsworth shines with his timing and maneirism. Valkyrie sarcasm also sells it so well. Banner is like "yeh sure whatever you say Thor and then he is like where am I?"

This movie has a ton of action set pieces and all look insane. The visuals and concepts are just breathtaking. Marvel really went "All in" with this movie. It's so refreshing the amount of new and bold choices that just work perfectly. Hat's off.

Check out this very important message from Thor himself a.k.a. @chrishemsworth! Get your #ThorRagnarok tickets now: http://bit.ly/2eJGuW9
http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/09/08/thor-ragnarok-odin-knew-of-cosmic-threats-that-thor-and-loki-didntTHOR: RAGNAROK: ODIN KNEW OF COSMIC THREATS THAT THOR AND LOKI DIDN'T
The movie will reveal Loki banished Odin (once again played by Sir Anthony Hopkins) to Earth, where Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki will end up seeking him out as he wanders the streets of Manhattan.
Winderbaum explained that "what Thor comes to learn early on is that there's a lot of terrible things in the cosmos that just shouldn't be that way. And we learn that Odin was doing far more than it seemed on the surface to keep the universe safe. That there were all these threats that he had quelled or was keeping at bay, using his strength and power to do so, that Loki was completely unaware, unprepared for."
Winderbaum also said that while the trickster god "achieved his goals" in finally winning the throne, it proves a bittersweet victory for Loki: "So he becomes the King of Asgard, everything is great, it's a good party, but he failed to realize the threats that were just over the horizon, Hela being the biggest and most terrible one of all."
For his part, Loki actor Tom Hiddleston stressed that "Loki's feelings towards his family members are complex" and that he "never conceived of Loki's emotional connections to Odin or Thor as malevolent. He just wants to have a go, on the throne, which he does."

I remember watching a GIF of him raising his arm against the exploding Leviathan and I came to conclusion from the look on Hemsworth face that the only thing really bothering him from that is the brightness of the explosion. He's really only shielding his eyes.
Confirmed, Thor has sensitive eyes but is otherwise indestructible. :P
(Though I'm going to assume that Surtur's fire actually does hurt him to a degree. Still a tough cookie but being engulfed by a fire god's flamethrower isn't going to be a relaxing day at the spa for anyone, unless you're Human Torch I guess.)
Mmm, Loki is still an evil psychopath though
