I'm looking forward to Hulk verbally emoting his feeling about the last time we saw him. Clearly the guilt is what drive him off, as usual, so I imagine he feels like he's somewhere he fits in a lot better on Sakaar.

Based on Collider's comments, as well as a guy who saw the movie in the spoilers forum, I am getting a bit nervous about the comedy in the movie. Collider was saying the comedy is going to be divisive, and that makes me scared for another GotG2. Hopefully it isn't full of "million to fun" level dialogue.

GOTG 2 is not THAT comedic jeez, it was emotional and serious when it needed to be.

Eh, it was to me. I still really liked the movie. But it had a lot a wincey humor for my taste. They also laughed at themselves. A lot.

They're both clearly heavy on comedy, but James Gunn and Taika Waititi have VERY different brands of comedy, so I think some of it is going to depend on whether one of those types works better for you.

I've personally always found James Gunn's brand of comedy to be a bit juvenile for my tastes, though he certainly had some great clever moments in Slither. Still, Taika's comedy is MUCH more my style, so if this is just as heavy as GotG with the comedy, but Taika's style of comedy? I'm almost guaranteed to love it far more.

I think these comments about comedy in Marvel movies are often overblown. I really don't see how Age of Ultron or Iron Man 3 are comedies. Or when people downplay the emotional core of the Guardians movies.

I would genuinely be disappointed if the humor was anything like GOTG2. That was just a mess of timing, writing & even delivery.

Obviously, they're not all going to work, but Waititi's shown to do better than that.

It's all a matter of personal taste. I thought Vol.2 was a little heavy on humour but I still enjoyed it immensely.

Homecoming managed to balance it best, in my opinion. It wasn't too much and there were some great visual comedic moments.

Yeah, there hasn't been an MCU movie I haven't enjoyed yet. The humor just seems a bit forced sometimes. With GotG2 specifically, a lot of it had to do with Rocket's lines and they way they make Cooper SCREAM all of them. I get that that's the character, but it gets a bit much for my taste.

But I do think the Russos have gotten the best balance of drama/comedy out of all the directors so far. I'm very glad they're doing Avengers 3 and 4.

I don't care what anyone says, I adore GotG 2. I watched it 5 times in the week it came out for digital download alone. :oldrazz: I think the first 20 minutes are a little shaky (other than the opening credits which are genius) and the humour is all over the place, but it settles down after that and the last 30 minutes of the film are an absolute emotional rollercoaster. I'm not ashamed to admit that Yondu's death still makes me cry like a baby.

Ragnarok's humour doesn't sound anything like the GotG style humour though. Like people have already said, Gunn and Waititi have very different comedic styles.

Yeah, I think GotG2 was the first time I ever got a bit choked up in an MCU movie because of that finale.

I agree, The Russo brothers are my favorite MCU directors definately have the best balance of action, comedy, and humor.

Hiddleston, Blanchett and Ruffalo at the press junket which is going on right now:

Ruffalo hasn't been fired and replaced yet then. :cwink:

Imo Guardians of the galaxy vol.2 is better than the first. Even with it's faults. The emotional core of that film > the rest of the MCU, sure
... it has a lot of comedy... and not all of it lands all the time. But it also has some of the most emotional moments and some of the darkest subjects in any mcu film too. I personally love it more than the 1st.

I'm perfectly fine with humor. I generally love the Marvel humor. I just want to have the right balance. And I have enjoyed all of the Marvel films but like everyone obviously some more than others.

I'm one of the few weirdos that love TDW - dug all the jokes, Darcy and all, sue me - and as a film AOU is up there for me too along with Ultron and all his quips. I never felt like the humor detracted from the film. I was more irked by the cuts to the film - like Thor's parts which should have been included and would have made more sense of things - like the bizarre magic bath he took.

GOTG 2 had tremendous heart in the end and that redeemed it. I also loved the quirky Ego storyline and thought Russell made a very creepy villain. Ego being an original Thor villain helped too :) ... It just wasn't as tight or as well crafted of a film for me as the first one and I felt the humor was a little heavy handed. But everyone's got different tastes of course.

Just being honest - hearing that Ragnarok is Marvel's funniest film yet is the last thing I expected for a film about the death of the Norse gods - but I've never known what to expect ever since Taika was announced. I'm throwing expectations out the window and am willing to go with the flow here. I just want a great film. If the humor is intrinsic to that and it works I'm cool.

For me the first two are close. But Gunn definitely does drama/emotion best, along with the Russos. All 4 of their films had the most emotional beats compared to the rest of the MCU films.

Yeah, that's kind of where I'm at as well. I was expecting more stakes, but I also love Taika as a film maker. THFTWP was mostly a comedy, but had a lot of heart. I suppose they're saving a lot of the drama/stakes for Avengers 3 and 4.
