Thor: Ragnarok The Official News and Speculation Thread - Part 5

Wait, the Thor franchise was "grounded"? The one with the space vikings and magic hammers?

Apparently Destroyer armor was the Tumbler of the franchise. Who knew?

(Freeman voice): "The Bifrost? Oh... you wouldn't be interested in the Bifrost." (Grins)

This looks terrible, the franchise went from grounded but grandiose to gaudy and cheap.

I have the same feeling!

I like it colourful - it fits with the Guardians f. e. ...

But i like Thor being grounded. Like "Thor 1" - that was almost perfect!
I would have gone the complete opposite way with Thor - like "Logan" - for "Ragnorak"!! R-rated...

I think, they made a good movie, but after the first pictures i am a little bit worried!
Can be everything - a great movie or a "real crazy experience" :woot:

Am I the only one that thinks Ruffalo looks terrible as Banner in this pic? He looks like he's put on weight, and whats up with the Drew Carey glasses? I know I shouldn't judge based on one picture... but, man, what an awful picture.

Disclaimer: I've loved Ruffalo as Banner so far in the MCU, but I'm not feeling this look. He looks like they pulled him off the set of a Harry Caray movie.

Holy overreaction Batman.

Ok good because some of those Planet Nickelodeon colors are killing me. I hope the cinematography used really tones these colors down.

I was saying the same thing - it was slightly jarring.

They went back to the techno-vikings like in the first Thor, but this time on an acid trip.

Rita and Hela sisters separated at birth across universes and companies?

No, they look nothing alike.

This isn't even remotely close to the comparisons of the purple guy from the Power Rangers and Apocalypse that everyone was making.

Just the Green lol

Stupid question from a rookie:

Could short-hair Hemsworth the clone from Thor called Ragnarök?
I cant imagine there is a Scene where Thor gets a new haircut.

Can we at least agree that those who are begging for a 'darker, grounded, R-rated' movie called 'Ragnorak' at least accept that it's either spelled 'Ragnarök' or, if you lack an ö-key, 'Ragnarok'?
The constant misspelling makes me crazy, it's not that hard a word. And it's not an anorak...

I think I'm going to at least wait for the trailer to decide whether I like the look of the movie. Even then, if it looks a little bit off, it's probably not going to spoil it for me. I didn't like the look of BvS and thought that movie was okay (no nasty comments from those of you that thought it Carp :woot: ).

If anything the new movie Rita copied Hela. The Hela from Ragnarok is straight out of the comic costume:

You know....... as many will tell me (and rightly so) wait for the movie, watch his other films etc, hearing Thor himself will be
one of the funniest things in the film, and a fanboy of the Valkyries
does in fact worry me a teeny bit.

Can't lie... I don't have any misgivings about the visuals, but if the tone is like Guadians or TDW then I will be disappointed. It can have funny stuff. A1 has lots of humor but it never detracts from the characters of the plot.

For myself there has been an overabundance of "humor" in a lot of the post A1 MCU that comes off really smug and off putting too often. It's certainly the number two reason I dislike TDW so much despite adoring the first Thor film.

The number one reason was a lame plot and it's lame villain.

The hype is real!

I'd go see Cate Blanchett in an Underworld movie. Hell, I'd go see her in just about ANY movie. Those eyes of hers are just killers.

EDIT: Why is it that I keep getting these #666 posts. I'm starting to find it annoying. :woot:

Ugh I can't stand Valkyrie's look, it's just so boring! Extras had better costumes in the previous films.

Very interesting.
So it's confirmed that is Loki who messes up and unleashes Hela by accident. Thor gets owned by Hela in their first meeting wich ends up sending him to Skaar. Valkyrie is already on Skaar, hiding apparently, and is the one that brings Thor to the Grandmaster. Thor is forced into becoming a gladiator but with no mjolnir and a short hair cut.

Good to know that Hulk is more of a character than he was before. He as an atitude by being the "top dog" in the arena.

While bts pictures very seldom flatter these kinds of outfits......... yes her look is indeed very boring based on what we've seen.
Maybe her outfit is supposed to be... plain?

I wonder who that very colourful character standing behind Loki is..... That's one hectic coloured robe :D
Maybe Loki-Odin ordered some style changes in Asgard?
Or he's meeting up with Grandmaster on Sakaar?

To paraphrase Superman, So many questions...

Let's put something out of the way. This movie is Taika+Marvel making a movie. That's pretty much a safe bet for critical acclaim and the movie will likely be great.

So any worries for that part should have been lifted by now.

Sakaar is described as being the trashcan of the universe. Why would that call for a grandiose look?

Obviously it is supposed to look tacky.

Some people are not getting why the use of the color.
The abundance of color has to do with this particular planet. SKAAR! A futuristic and crazy place in the universe. Of course Asgard is not gonna look like this, neither the helm of Hela, neither Muspelheim the relm of Surtur... And that has already been shown with behind the scenes photos and the massive sets they built.

SKAAR, the gladiatorial planet, is the one that is flashy and colorful.

I can see where people draw a comparison from Rita.. both green female villains who look demonic.. but.... that's literally what Hela looks like.. and anyone who drawls that comparison clearly has no clue what Hela looks like or anything about her.

The costume is spot on, and I just really hope the concept art is correct and both Thor and Hela get their headdresses.

Got it. Nobody should have any misgivings at all. No opinion that counters this is reasonable. Apparently all worries have been lifted.
