I do love the Norse myths :)
While they were making Mjølnir, Loki made himself into a fly and stung the dwarf smith (Brokk)in the eyelids blindning him with blood so he had to drop the bellows to drive him away, thereby " ruining" Mjølnir.

All over a bet Loki lost anyway, but managed to wiggle out of on a technicality.
(He'd bet his head, but as they were about to cut his head off, he argued the bet didn't mention anything about the neck, so the ended up sowing his mouth shut instead)
From the stories I read about Asgard as a kid(both modern fiction and the sagas),Asgard and the Norse gods always reminded me of the line about Camelot from Monthy Pythons "Holy Grail" : "Tis a silly place":cwink:

Even better.

I've come to the conclusion it's one of the best CBM trailers I've ever seen - probably in my top 3. And hugely thanks to the choice of music which I do agree is a remarkable fit given the events of Ragnarok.

Does Marvel Studios cut their own trailers in-house or do they contract it out to specialist trailer-producing companies?

I don't know. But this trailer was kept close to the heart by Disney execs. Nothing but a passing remark by James Gunn came out for this trailer.

Using Led Zeppelin-Immigrant song? Are you kidding me? A call back to utter insanity of late- 70s and early-80s comic book stories.

****! They know about my teenage years of listening to this music and reading comic books. Disney knows me so well. I'm doomed to their marketing!

It should be applauded solely for not having the dumb teaser for a teaser the day before. Considering Marvel does that usually wonder if Waititi actually had some influence

Hahah. Yeah, in a lot of ways, I felt that it deflated the actual JL trailer when DC overdosed on the entire JL roster by doing teasers of a teaser trailer promo.

I like that Loki looks nervous, he is biting his nails and seems to be as far away from the Grandmaster on the couch as possible without falling off the end.

I have a feeling that the look on Grandmaster's face is from Hulk turning back into Banner.

Pretty much everything we've heard about this then finally the trailer has me really excited for Ragnarok now. Might be my most anticipated MCU film this year and that's coming from a huge Spider-Man fan and someone who wasn't a big fan of the first two Thor films.

I would prefer the guy holding the engine rather than the engine itself but i will get what i can...

I can't be bothered with teasers at all.

Agreed. Didn't even have that silly clip before the teaser either. Those are so pointless.

"Oh, here's a clip from the teaser you're literally watching." :whatever:

I'm not sure. If I had to take a guess, I would say that he won't get it back for the beginning of Infinity War, mostly because it feels like the arc of this movie, for all the humor, is heading more towards a disaster for the entire universe, placing our heroes in a very bad spot for the beginning of the next movie.

So... Thor not having Mjolnir feels right to me.

But that is just a guess.

Edit: It would also fit with Cap not having his shield, and I would expect them both to get back their iconic weapons at some point during the two-movie arc. Again, just a guess, based on my current feel for the story as a whole.

Both circumstances are extremely disappointing for me. I want my heroes to have their iconic weapons. It makes me want to see the films less not more ( bit I'll still see them so i guess they're doing ok) I left CW very dissatisfied personally and the shield drop have a decent amount to do with it. I think you're right though. thee theme fits but only works if there's a triumphant
return of Mjolnir and Cap's shield ( which at least still exists) at some point.

Thor HAS to get Mjolnir back for Infinity War, because I need Stan Lee's cameo to be him as a janitor at the Avengers Complex, and as he's dusting off shelves and such, he picks up Mjolnir, dusts under it, then puts it back down.

Hahaha! Yeah what is up with that?

I believe this is because the trailer would be submitted as a YouTube ad to play before other videos, which is skippable after five seconds; having a few seconds at the beginning showing some of the trailer might encourage people to keep watching or click before they skip. So it's essentially a way of quickly hooking people.

Sometimes they don't bother with this, but other times they do.

I doubt Hela is gonna get killed, considering her possible role in you know what.

Nice dude! I'll have to send you a pic of my Tolkien collection. I own LOTR/The Hobbit, Unfinished Tales, The Silmarillion, and 2 books in the History of Middle-earth series.

My collection is very heavily slanted in favor of the movies though haha, I have a lot more of that stuff.

Yeah. Please do send. My favs are my first printing of The Hobbit (1966 leatherbound edition with sleeve) and probably Smith of Wootton Major and Farmer Giles of Ham.

I guess if you had used Nirnaeth Arnoediad as an example of people getting obliterated, it might have gone over a few heads.

I also have the #1 Daredevil when he wore that ugly yellow costume. Glad they didn't put that on the Netflix series.

Anyway, back to Thor.....I'm totally stoked because I read Norse Mythology at a very young age and was fascinated by it. Thor, naturally, became my favorite comic book character (rivaled only by Doctor Strange) so you can see why I'm so geeked out. I think the trailer is beyond awesome and Cate is, well, I'm not sure we have the right word for it, but I sure wouldn't kick her out of hell.

I'm cool with taking some liberties with comic book adaptations....Taking liberties with Tolkien's work, however, is a BIG no no....

Cap and Thor will get their iconic weapons back in the 2nd one. I can see both characters talking about how lonely they are without their weapons.

I really don't understand how shaking the status quo and keeping things challenging for the hero makes for less satisfaction. This is a comic book universe. Are we going to pretend Cap isn't getting his shield back or Thor won't reforge Mjolnir?

Never really thought about that...Makes sense.

They showed already some footage the Warriors Three fighting in a forest...
...

Hope Thor gives Hulk something back for the scene in "The Avengers" - still, for me, a bad scene, as we see no reaction from the god of thunder!
Would have been a far better scene, as Thor would have reacted to the punch...

Can not wait to see how the final scene of the trailer ends... still over 6 months...

The music is awesome... a perfect fit...

no.. that was a fanmade trailer to fool people the woods shots were deleted scenes from Thor 2

I think I've rewatched this trailer more than any other trailer I've seen this year, and Thor Ragnarok was previously one of my lowest anticipated movies just because of TDW.

I wouldn't mind if the Warriors Three and Sif take a break for this one. One of the issues I had with The Dark World was the over-abundance of secondary characters that felt insignificant.

Fans tend to focus on the human characters, like Darcy and Selvig, because those characters are not fan favorites from the comics like the Warriors Three, but I thought that the cast in general had too many characters that didn't do much.

Technically the script did give each of them something to do, but it felt artificial and contrived. That was part of the "by the numbers" feel to the whole thing.

So... we'll see. But I wouldn't mind if they moved on from all of those characters that felt like extra baggage to me. The writers can always bring them back eventually in future movies (though probably not all at once), if they find something interesting for them to do.

It's ok for a film like this to have one "sidekick"-type character who is just along for the ride and helps out the main character, a bit like Falcon in Civil War. But The Dark World had basically *four* of those characters, in addition to the human characters. That is too many.
