Thor: Ragnarok The Official News and Speculation Thread - Part 6

So you thought Marvel hired Taika to make Ragnarok similar to TWS? If you had seen or heard about Taika then you would never have made this assumption.

Although, to be fair, nobody expected TWS to be what it was based on the Russo's previous work. :oldrazz:

I've watched this many times. It's addicting. This is probably the best Marvel trailer in a good while.

What Feige said and it's still baffling how some people don't get it is that ragnarok will do for Thor what TWS did for Cap. Not that Thor is like a Fan4stic situation but like TWS cemented Cap as one of the pillars of the MCU they want to do the same with Thor. He was talking about THE IMPACT of the filmon the CHARACTER. They didn't hire taika to make TWS 2.0.

Ragnarok can be equally good to TWS without having the same tone. Think about it.

I've seen quite a few general fans sharing the Thor teaser on social media and saying that they believe it looks good and they're excited for it. That's a good sign!

The thing is, and always has been, is that Thor has SO much potential. I mean he's the God of Frelling Thunder. How much cooler can you get than that?

The thing I liked about Thor was that he was a total badass, but very gentle and patient (but don't piss him off by being rude or disrespectful). He would have made a great sitter. He'd sit there all night and tell the kids these exciting stories and you wouldn't have to worry about someone breaking into the house and robbing it. :woot:

Exactly right.

I still feel like in the movie there will be 2 different tones. The Asgard parts will have an LOTR-vibe, while the outcast Thor plotline will have a Guardians-vibe.

I mean take away the Zeppelin, and Hela destroying Asgard reminds me a lot of Sauron destroying the Last Alliance in FOTR.

Not to be picky, but the last Alliance of Elves and Men was at the end of the 2nd Age and resulted in the overthrow of Sauron; though Elendil, Anarion, and Gil-Galad were all killed. Maybe you mean The Battle of the Pelennor Fields (but think you are talking about the beginning of the movie), but the forces under Denethor (Gandalf really), Aragorn, and Theoden won that also (but at great expense) and killed the Lord of the Nazgul (Eowyn and Merry did anyway).

I'm not sure if or how the vibe of the movie will be different in different places, but if it's anywhere near as good as the trailer, I'm gonna be more than satisfied.

Loved everything but the hammer crush but I knew it was coming. I guess the MCU has something against our heroes iconic weapons. I'm really hoping the hammer will be repaired and returned. Not thrilled f he ends up with the Ultimate hammer.

You're talking to a Tolkien nerd lol, I was just trying to be simple in making my point :)

Just about the only thing missing from this slice of heaven is a surprise shot of Beta Ray Bill.

The Teaser Trailer is a massive hit.
If you check on Youtube it has already almost 4.5 million views and 200 thousand likes vs 3.7 thousand dislikes. I think people are really on board with this. I mean how couldn't you... it's just EPIC.

Btw Taika Waititi twitter is a cool place to check how people are reacting to the TT. And pretty much all over Youtube the reaction is overwhelmingly very positive. :yay:

I expect the second trailer will focus a bit more on some of the apocalyptic stuff (including maybe some of the bits that were in the comic con footage).

This trailer was more about letting us know that Thor will be in a tough spot, presenting the villain, and the "mash-up" aspect involving Hulk. We did get a brief look at Loki and Valkyrie as well.

It's really just a little taste, which is appropriate at this point.

I am so happy with the teaser. Looks like the best Thor outing by far! The Thor franchise should have been like this from the get go... Though I wanted it to work, they never seemed to pull off the whole "epic" vibe well. I think Taika's style suits Thor much better. I'm so excited to see more!

Also, Thor: Ragnarok has been trending on twitter for hours. :woot: The reception to the trailer is overwhelmingly positive so far, it's awesome to see people catching on to what a lot of us here have known for a long time, this movie is going to be freaking crazy and awesome. :chd:

I seriously can't stop watching it, this thing is addictive lol.

And we still haven't seen...
- Odin
- Surtur
- Fenris Wolf
- The Warriors Three
...

And once we see them plenty will cry that too much was shown lol. It's amazing that this is just a teaser, so excited to see more.

People will always complain about stuff. I am looking forward to see everyone. Surtur and Fenris are the ones i am really interested about now. Just seeing how they are gonna look... A massive fire demon and a giant wolf. :drl:

You mean no one is complaining that Thor or Loki wasn't recast as an Asian-American?

Enjoyed it much more the second time around.

Are Surtur and Ferris confirmed?
When have we gotten any official statement that either Surtur or Fenris would be in the movie, at all?
We haven't had any official statement on the subject.

But it's official because it was released as the Comic-Con footage/concept art... Many people/news outlets that we're present at the event saw it and reported on it. You can google it if you want.

We got a look at the Fenris Wolf, a being inspired by Fenrisulfr of Norse mythology. In mythology, the Fenris Wolf is prophesied to devour Odin. It is also said to be the offspring of Loki. Oh, Loki, you dog!

The footage ended with Hulk launching himself at Surtur, the gigantic fire demon who helps bring about Ragnarok, the destruction of Asgard and all things. Inspired by the being from Norse mythology, Surtur made his Marvel Comics debut in Journey Into Mystery #97.
