Thor: Ragnarok The Official News and Speculation Thread - Part 9

Kinda wonder if they'll release an American trailer or commercial featuring that Dr. Strange cameo. It seems they're really hiding this cameo because it either spoils a big moment or they want it to be a genuine surprise for most moviegoers.
I don't see him having a long scene or really traveling far with Thor. Something brief, I am good to go from the 1st real trailer so I am not watching tv spots or anymore footage.

We're probably never gonna see the "real" Mandarin. It was a plot point introduced 4 years ago exclusively as a DVD extra and hasn't been followed up on or alluded to since.

I would take a less definitive stance and say that there are probably no plans for the character at all. That doesn't mean it'll never happen, but there's no reason to think it'll happen either.

Yes, I assume he's only in the very beginning since Thor still has his long hair in their scene together. The post-credit scene in Dr Strange as well as the dialogue from the international trailer probably makes up the majority of his screen time in the film.

Sweet appearance of Doctor Strange. Awesome to see him interact with Thor and the way DS was hovering forward was really cool. Interesting dialog and badass answer from the God of Thunder.
Doctor Strange - Thor, I sense a great change in your future. Destiny has dire plans for you, my friend.
Thor - I have dire plans for destiny

Bring it on! :woot:

So Strange can see the future now?
I guess he can somehow sense something bad is about to happen. Interesting that DS actually calls Thor a "friend". I guess they share the same interests "Protect Earth" and they shared a drink which always helps to create a stronger bond i guess. :woot:

By looking very closely at the International Trailer i actually noticed only a few differences from the Official Trailer. Its mostly footage from the OT and also some from the Teaser Trailer.
0:20 - Hela throwing swords. The lighting on Cate Blanchett's face is much stronger and you can really see Cate Blanchett's face.
1:10 - We can see a slightly increased version of the Thor with Gungnir vs Hela. Apparently Thor goes for her legs at first, she jumps and avoids it in some sort of capoeira movement and spins her body in the air landing in the ground again in time to block Thor's hit with her arms.

All the reasons why using a "Real" Mandarin were a bad idea then, still apply. If you care about a Chinese villain wearing Chinese robes with the name 'The Mandarin', its never going to happen, not so long as the early Iron Man comics were heinously racist and the Chinese government censors foreign releases.

If you care about a hyper-macho warlord who made himself into a living weapon and uses advanced technology to try and throw the world into war for Nietschean reasons. . . well, we *already* had that. He even had dragon tattoos and karate chopped armors.

Both look good

I can't wait to seem some poster of "Beast Mode" Thor with the lighting everywhere surrounding him. It's going to be glorious. There's already fan art floating around that serves as an appetizer for what i hope is going to be some insane posters down the line.

Chris Hemsworth with a hammer, and Thor ;)

Oh yes. That could be something worth going up on the wall.

Love it :up::cool:

I hope this beast mode isn't a one off thing.

Amazing to see the art, the sculptures, the buildings, streets, throne room, Hulk bed... And to hear more about the movie and it's inspiration. :yay:

Just realized that this movie has Hulk, Dr. Strange, and Valkyrie, three of the (original) Defenders from the comics.

But it seems they won't all be in the same scene together and loki takes strange's place on the rainbow bridge

Yeah I'd like to see it come back in Infinity Wars 1 & 2 as well as other appearances in future films.

It's a must for the climax of IW/A4 at the very least, but I'd be cool with it becoming a thing in any fight where he needs to dig a lot deeper and is under threat.

Yeah I would definitely like to see in Infinity War, doesn't matter which one but most likely the second one.
