TitanFall

Yeah, Dice is currently working on Battlefront as their next title, right?

Yeah Battlefront next year, Battlefield in 16 and Titanfall 2 in 17

Are they planning on releasing these games only every 3 years? Doesn't seem very EA-like but it's a potentially awesome rotation. They can clean up if they make each of these games as good as they should be.

I don't know if I'll play Battlefield ever again when that comes out, I play Battlefield to fill in a gap left by having no Battlefront lol.

They've said they want to do the 3 year shooter rotation with those 3

I wonder how the new Battlefront will play? I know DICE has said they don't intend to make a Battlefield game with Star Wars characters and call it Battlefront, but IMO, i think that would be really awesome haha.

Yeah, that would be awesome. I'd prefer that to BF already.

Its funny because it would be awesome. I don't know how different they can make is the original Battlefronts was basically Battlefield with similar game types and such. They both had the same idea for Conquest it was like Battlefront was a modded Battlefield 2 or something lol.

Honestly, I don't care what it will play like I'm going to love it because I just HAVE to. I must (although the last time I had this view my disappointment in the TFU games hurt bigger than it should). I'm probably staying away from most multiplayer games this gen so that game will probably be the main thing I play online as online gaming has lost alot of my interest.

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure how Battlefront WON'T be like Battlefield as Battlefront did what Battlefield did first.. Granted on a smaller scale due to PS2 capabilities.. But still.

I can tell you right now that I won't touch BF or CoD again once BF comes out. Between that and Destiny I'll be good.

I hope it's first person, or at least have that option available for the vehicles. I really want to get inside the cockpit of a snow speeder or AT-ST etc.

TitanFalls seamless updates explained by Respawn.

In response to a forum post inquiring about how Titanfall title updates will be handled, Respawn programmer Jon Shiring explained the developer's approach and pointed to the recent alpha test as evidence of what it's doing. "During our small Closed Alpha, we rolled out 3 new server builds and completely moved players from one build to the next without interrupting gameplay. Players never noticed a difference (other than some bugs went away)," he wrote.

"We will definitely be rolling out new server builds to fix issues that we find. Not every issue can be patched entirely on the server, and so some fixes will require a client patch. But new server builds are definitely something we will be doing."

Asked if this was due more to the technology powering Titanfall or the Azure cloud servers it's making use of, Shiring indicated both are playing a role.

"Seamless updates are due to the stuff we've written," he explained. "The fact that we can somewhat-easily deploy new builds on Azure is due to the Xbox Live Compute team's hard work. This is an area that we've been working on with them for some time now. We originally told them that no-cert, fast server updates were a requirement for us, and they made that happen."

Shiring has touted the benefits of Azure before, and, in particular, what having dedicated servers allows for. "This is a really big deal, and it can make online games better," Shiring said last year.

"This is something that we are really excited about. The Xbox Live Cloud lets us to do things in Titanfall that no player-hosted multiplayer game can do. That has allowed us to push the boundaries in online multiplayer and that's awesome. We want to try new ideas and let the player do things they’ve never been able to do before!"

That's funny as Microsoft were terrible for certification of patches on the 360, also charging a lot for them which put a lot of people off. I didn't think they'd be flexible enough to change totally although I guess they were forced into it for this game. The Azure/cloud part of the company seems to be a lot more dynamic than the rest of it.

I really hope it's both 1st & 3rd person.

As you & others have said, all things being equal I'll favour the likes of Battlefront & Destiny every time over a CoD & Battlefield. Sci-fi just beats military shooter for me by miles.

Early last year they changed their update rules and removed charging for them

Sounds right now you mention it. Had to learn their lesson sometime. It was the wrong environment for encouraging good developers.

Titanfall devs explain how the mech combat game came to be

It's strange to think Titanfall was borne from developers mulling things over in an abandoned office for two months, all sat in a circle of folding chairs. The Respawn team, led by ex-Infinity Ward devs, soon grew and grew, and with EA behind it the studio's now a month away from releasing arguably the Xbox One's most anticipated game to date.

As such, the news train is in full flow as Respawn drip-feeds info, mostly through Twitter. We now know the mech-toting shooter has an imminent betaon Xbox One and PC, and it uses codes rather than being fully open. The game itself features SmartGlass integration of some kind, but Kinect isn't supported. Finally, the Xbox 360 version was outsourced to Bluepoint, and it's due two weeks after the game hits Xbox One and PC on March 11.

Do we know what the differences in the 360 and One versions are?

Not really. I read something that said the differences aren't that noticeable. Obviously visuals but the article said that the 360 version was gonna be a lot better than people thought. Thats all of course hear say.
