TitanFall

The property is owned by Respawn, not EA. It's entirely possible for this game to stay exclusive with MS making a future publishing deal. All I know is that no one knows anything for sure except that has been announced for 3 platforms, none Sony.

Do we know for sure that Respawn owns the IP? Has this been confirmed? Even if they do own the whole IP, EA most likely owns the publishing rights to this game (in the same way Nintendo owns the rights to Bayonetta 2, though Sega owns the Bayonetta IP). Sorry, but it may not be known, but the odds of it being timed are pretty much 99%. And no, that isn't an exaggeration. The only possibility of exclusivity is if MS has actually put money directly into this, and since they aren't publishing and there's been no such rumors or implications even that remains a slim chance. It would be stated, I'm fairly certain, like it was recently with DR3.

And hell, since we're on the subject, what does it matter if it's timed or not. Wouldn't it be better if it was. You're going to get if on your Bone, so don't worry about it coming to the PS4 down the line, accepted the timed, loved the timed, hope for the timed so that others can enjoy it, too. There is room for everybody.

It's definitely timed but its going to be a long time before the ps4 gets it. If it hits in March the minimum the ps4 gets it would be that Christmas but I'd say it'll be over a year. Or MS will realize the great position they've found themselves and set up an exclusive deal with Respawn and Ea. They have the money to do it. I do believe the ps4 users deserve the game because its going to be one of the best of next year.

Honestly, even if they were to be offered, I wouldn't be surprised if EA would reject it in favor of releasing a PS4 version. Why? For one, it's EA. But two, and maybe more importantly, it's really not a good move to completely cut out another fanbase from a brand that is so established. I'm assuming they want to make a franchise out of this, and having the first game on the PS4 will help to establish the base there, too.

I know most people think MS has infinite pockets, but their game division can't just throw endless money at people. They, like all public companies, have certain obligations to shareholders, and I do believe it was revealed that an issue that came up at some shareholders meeting was the amount of money spent on timed exclusives that didn't seem to wield results to warrant the spending (don't quote me on that, though, it may be wrong, but I seem to remember it). In the end, I really don't think MS is going to have the obscene amount of money needed available to keep this game exclusive. UNLESS the game bombs and the IP gets abandoned with neither party giving a **** about it.

I.don't think it will be either but its going to be exclusive for a long time, over a year easily which is all Ms needs it for

TitanFall does seem like Microsofts ace but it might be too little, too late to gain much advantage over Sony.

They shot themselves in the foot by not allowing rented or borrowed games from the get go.

The allegations of privacy abuses didn't help either.

Eh they'll be fine. They'll sell just as much if not more when its all said and done.

I bet even Microsoft doesn't know if it will remain exclusive at this point.

It will need a mountain of money from X-one owners to justify not going multi-system.
Gears of War would be multiplatform now if it weren't for Microsoft doing whatever they are capable of doing. At moment TitanFall most likely will go multiplatform but nothing's impossible.

People have forgiven Sony for their stance and comments on PS3 release so it can be recovered from. And it doesn't matter if it's too little too late to catch up to Sony as long as the XB1 still does ok for itself.

Microsoft published and funded Gears of War, not a secret what they did to keep it exclusive.

That's what they did to get it as an exclusive. There's nothing they can do to ensure its stays exclusive without buying the rights or outright buying Epic. Games they've published in the past have gone multiplatform and Epic doesn't need funding from Microsoft for future Gears games with its Unreal Engine revenue.

In other words, they have some level of corporate wiles, bargaining skills and relationship management that has enabled them to keep the Gears franchise thus far and look like keeping it for at least the mid term future. Not saying this can happen with TitanFall & Respawn, just saying it isn't impossible.

Usually when a company publishes and funds a game they own the rights to the IP already. But I did some searching and apparently Epic does own the Gears IP. I'm not sure, though, I'm guessing there's probably more legally to that situation than meets the eye.

But I don't think it's a comparable situation. MS has a direct hand in Gears via publishing, funding, marketing, etc. Titanfall is totally third party, and by a company known for being multiformated. Hell, this was a company that bought a franchise originally published by MS, going as far as to buy out their rights to the games they published just to release them across multiple formats. If MS were to spend the kind of money to keep it exclusive permanently, they just would've published and funded it themselves.

I'm just not feeling it. I've been watching the gameplay videos and I just don't like the freerunning...

Here's my problem with the majority of Bone fans and this game. They're (not all, most of the posters here at the Hype are level headed people) acting like they won't get their money out of this system if TitanFall isn't exclusive.. I've actually heard guys say "Well I love MS and Xbox but if they can't keep TitanFall then it'll be a waste of 500 dollars for me.. This is the one thing they have against Sony!"

I honestly think that's a view point shared by many Xbone Only guys.. That IF this game goes MP (and it is...) that it's a crime and a HUGE error on MS part.

Honestly, I'll probably get it..But EVERYTHING I've seen so far makes it look, to me, like CoD with Mechs and free running (which I'm not thrilled about).. I'm not dogging the game, I've yet to play it but it's nothing I'm super excited for. I can easily wait for the PS4 version.

thats nothing new. Its the same mentality people had with GTA and FF on PS3 and then both launched alongside the 360. I remember people especially getting pissed about FF XIII bc that was the only reason they got a PS3

I get the feeling CoD is going to be a bit less dominant, CoD Ghosts in partcular without the Modern Warfare or Black Ops name. Battlefield 4 will continue to close the gap like BFBC2 & BF3 did and TitanFall & Killzone give realistic exclusive console-specific alternatives.

A lot of people said the same thing about Black Ops, too, though. Many thought that would see a drop without the MW name. I've learned not to count out COD as a seller. I do think it'll eventually decline, but I think it's going to just be a fatigue of the franchise more than any other game(s) coming to take it's place. It's pretty much a series that stands above and beyond on it's own for the most part.

I honestly think going next gen will allow them to do things they werent previously able to do before and create a renewed interest in the series. Not with Ghosts, but next year's edition assuming the lead platforms for it will be the PS4/X1

Played 20 or so minutes of this game. It was phenomenal. I'm actually excited about competitive FPS again and as of recent, I've been very, very shooter fatigued. This is definitely one of the strongest things the Xbone has going for it.

Yea the more I see of this game the more I'm interested. I love the s**t outta some mechs. When is this game supposed to come out?

Ssshhh Pat, Mechs is a dirty word to Respawn. They aren't mechs, they're...something else.
