Haha :) The tentacle monster I just thought was more overdesigned hollywood baloney.

I'm referring to when the council encases them all in carbonite and rockets them into space. They were definitely space d*cks. Watch the movie again. Every audience notices something different I suppose. And mine laughed at a lot of what was supposed to be taken seriously.

Yeah, totally noticed that. Glad I' m not the only one with a dirty imagination lol!

The movie was great really. Lots of incredible visuals and insane action. I love it how people in my fam know what Kal-El and Jor-El means. This movie really has brought the Superman mythos back into the general public.

The movie isnt perfect. But hardly anyting is ever. Its a great introduction into Superman and I think this is definitely the Batman Begins of this series. Very excited to see a modernized way to bring back superman into the fold.

Its too bad the Nolan cast wont make it into these movies. Cavil and Bale on screen screams geekgasm.

Why did Goyer take on Superman?
I feel like Nolan carried his ass on Batman.

I watched an interview with Goyer he made it clear he had no interest in Superman, that he had no idea how to write it and how he procrastinated with nothing to show for.

Goyers wrote the Crow City of Angels a sequel no one wanted. Wrote and directed Blade 3.
All his work feels like he lifts from others.

Jonathan Nolan made Batman BETTER. He wrote Memento and Inception!

Get rid of Goyer hes an idea man. But look it everyone on this board! Who had better ideas back when Batman and Robin was released.

I'm so glad, I'm hearing more and more people say this, because if Goyer is on the sequel it's going to suck.

I'm honestly starting to think it's the microcosm of SHH. The more people I talk to friends and co-workers of mine, a lot of them have problems with the film. My brother-in-law, whose favorite movie is the dark knight said he thought it sucked. Another friend of mine who is a big time DC fan said he thought it was OK, and was a little "disappointed".

What's funny to me is all the people saying the critics are wrong. First off the critics didn't completely pan the film and it's not that far off from being "fresh", but I would think Stevie Wonder could see the flaws with this film.

I think this film benefitted from good will toward Superman and the Nolan brand, but I think next weekend will tell the tale. I would not be surprised if this tanks hard next weekend.

This probably belongs in the B.O. thread, but Whatever lol! I'll trump your friends and see you with mine who either liked it a lot or flat out loved it. No one I've spoken to has nitpicked The plot, the editing, the pacing, the flashbacks, the darker tone, etc etc. This movie imo is going to have good legs, because regardless of whether it floated your boat or not, it's getting at least an 80% favorable response from the GA. When those friends are asked "How was it?" and the majority say "good" "very good' or "great", then many of those who asked that question will in all likelihood go and see it for themselves and the WOM will probably grow some more. I'm not suggesting it'll do crazy Avengers or Avatar #'s over the long haul, but WB might leave it in the theatres a little longer than is normal if the % drop offs goes against what is traditionally expected.

Btw. Speaking of critics, (and specifically RT scores) instead of all those negative or tepid reviews cutting MOS off at the knees it could end up being a black eye to RT's future credibility, in that perhaps movie goers in the future won't put so much stock in what their ratings say.To be honest, I'm not so sure that the average GA member even does. Even someone high up at RT couldn't understand how MOS ended up being rotten, and actually mentioned it in the press.

The great thing is that we are pretty much assured of at least a MOS sequel, and perhaps this will encourage WB to finally fast track The Flash, who I feel should be the next hero up.

Oh please ..... give me a break. LOL

your slew of comic nerd friends isn't the general audience lol

the GA loved this film a- cinema score 82 %of audience approval at RT and the box office as well as constant reports of applause after the film

I'm in total shock of how many people actually are liking this film in the slightest. I mean this is more than a bad superhero movie, it's a bad movie in general. Now, every film will have it's plot holes, but this is complete Swiss cheese. The editing was terrible. The effects were terrible. The acting was flat. Superman killed more people than he saved. "you can save them all......except the millions you just killed". I mean there was ZERO wonder in this film at all. The first two Reeve films had wonder. You got excited when he saved Lois from the helicopter and when he asked Zod to step outside. But in MOS...nothing. So much was wrong. Lois being told to stay in side cause it will be below 40 degrees. Two seconds later she is in rough terrain in the bitter cold with a hat and a scarf. Come on! No one knew what the hell was going on in this film. Why would Lois know more than Superman on how to save everyone? Why is Jor-El hanging around opening doors like a wizard? Did he die? Superman flopping around trying to learn to fly? Who is he, the great American hero? Did he lose the instruction booklet? If the general knows Superman grew up in Kansas, Lois knows who he is, the kids on the bus know who he is...why he is still hiding? Everyone meet Clark, who is Superman, Superman this is everyone. Well not everyone in Metropolis....only Perry, the bald guy, and Jenny Olson seemed to live. And did Johnathon Kent really go out like that? He waved good bye as the Tornado gently carried him away? The town knows about Clark, why he still hiding his powers to save his Dad? Oh, and the scene where Clark is wearing the red cape, running around the back yard...who is he pretending to be? Did anyone was to take a moment to discuss the fact that there were aliens? No one was shocked. No one cared that millions died? I thought Superman would have. We need to bury this one and hope someone and really bring Superman back better than this. We deserve it.

I at first kind of did, but I think it worked as they established it with the robots Jor-El had, and the way the technology was on Krypton. Also, on Krytpon,
those elements did not feel like an obvious "Oh, that's gonna come back later on" type of foreshadowing of what Kal will have to face.

The *****s on the otherhand, yeah, total said that to my wife.

Well:
The Wayne Enterprises logo on the satellite that Zod and Supes destroy while fighting, has the logo from TDK trilogy. Who knows? If they put Bale and Cavill together, I would think Avengers B.O. #'s are possible

Ya, ya, ya ..... people shedding tears and applauding. I think I read fanatics saying that for just about every CBM lately.

My mom liked it. :yay:

Ya that's it! And then I should also make an obligatory "Thank God for the ignore feature" post to celebrate it right?

How about settling down the attitude before you get the obligatory infraction and/or probation you usually wind up getting when these movies open?

What's wrong with my attitude? I'm allowed to disagree with wild theories of RT's demise because of MoS and having any use for the ignore button.

As did I. :o

As usual, your attitude is obnoxious and rude towards other posters. Try keeping the rude and obnoxious comments to yourself.

Telling me to use the ignore button as if I'm not allowed to comment isn't?

I thought this thread was about MoS, not Rock Sexton.
