Tom Hiddleston: Loki Redux - Part 2

No, I'm not tired of Loki at all, and wont be for the forseeable future.

Ok I know I'm gunna get shouted right outta this website...

but is anybody else as tired of Loki stuff at this point as I am??
posters, interviews, magazine covers...
The last straw for me is the NYCC exclusive shirt which focuses centrally on him, making like he's the damn main character.

Its Thor's movie, mutha*****ers!! not Loki's

Loki isn't the only one getting press. Sif, Thor, and Jane have each gotten a great deal of media attention as well- Thor and Sif more than Jane, even. Sure, Loki's had a lot of interviews, but is that so surprising? He's an interesting, complex villain with a complicated mind, motivations, and back story. He's fun to speculate about, and his role in T: TDW isn't clear-cut to most people. He has depth, and it only helps that his actor is charismatic and puts a great deal of effort into the way he portrays Loki.

Like others have said, it's marketing. But that doesn't mean he's the only one who's been given the spotlight, or that it makes Thor's role in Thor's movie any less important.

As long as it puts as many people in seats for T:TDW as possible and doesn't reflect the actual film I'm cool with it.

Confession time: I will see the film because of Loki. I'll be waiting with baited breath for his presence on the screen during the scenes he's not in it. What can I say? I'm attracted to comic villains. Hell, just look at my avatar. :hoboj:

I made another thing

It's free software and it won't remove the letterbox bars like other GIF makers do.

I hear that! I got into this genre because of Loki and the Loki/Thor dynamic in The Avengers. And I'm not leaving!

Curse you for posting this...why is Loki so...tempting all bound up and everything?

Well, from my end it's a good thing I love Doctor Who because when Loki's not on screen there will be Christopher Eccleston as Malekith to keep me interested. Though he was playing the Ninth Doctor only as a favor to the man that resurrected the franchise his Doctor was still a pretty engaging interpretation of the character. My all time favorite episode of his is Dalek. It's a truly grand story that could have worked even if it wasn't a Doctor Who and a Dalek storyline. Most of it has everything to do with Eccleston's conflicted Doctor who still hadn't recovered from the trauma of his regeneration and the Time War.

I just posted this in the main thread but here is the extension to the "when do we start?" scene

Linky link

Im guessing this comes right after the major character death as Thor talks about Loki wanting revenge. Tissues at the ready in the cinema I think...

Here's the youtube version of the clip:

 Something went down to make Thor want to escape Asgard and get revenge. Apparently it's bad enough to get Loki's help. Or am I misinterpreting it?

If Thor doesn't at least beat the **** out of Loki I will be very upset. They can't keep having Thor threaten his brother with consequences and not follow through on it. Killing Loki would also work for me. He's earned it.

I agree

Although I don't think I want Loki to be killed, a "no holds barred" beat down is definately long overdue.

I doubt he could actually kill Loki. Not with Loki's powers. He would find a way to come back or trick him or something.

^ I think in a life or death scenario, Loki would find a way to escape

If Thor is allowed (by the writers/producers) to go all-out on Loki it's really no contest. Loki could prolong his death for a while but in the end Thor would slaughter him. Sadly, that's not likely to happen. :csad:

Nope. Thor was never able to kill Loki in the comics, he's too smart. Raw strength can only get you so far. Loki will always weasel his way out of death.

In the comics, Loki was decapitated and he lived. I doubt a bop from Mjolnir would manage where losing his head did not. (if they followed the comics)

Based on what we've seen, even a 'bop' from Mjolnir will do plenty lasting damage to MCU Loki.

Assuming if one of Loki's biggest motivations in helping Thor is to gain revenge for Frigga having been supposedly murdered by Malekith, my question would probably be as to why Loki would still care about Frigga considering on how he's essentially abandoned and let go of those that were in his life while he was still an asgardian prince.

Maybe she's his real Mom and he wasn't the only person Odin 'stole' from Laufey........... *cough*

That's pretty much how I read that scene, too. I guess it will occur in the middle of the film to set up their journey across the realms?

She favored him over Thor (big + in his book), she liked and helped him with his magic training so accepting his real calling without "not manly enough" debate.

And you show up on this thread to make that statement? You definitely are bored... Anyway it makes up for the dearth of Loki marketing from the first film. The studio knows a gold mine when the see it. FWIW I've been trying to buy as many mags showcasing the movie as I can... If Loki's on the cover the better! :D
