Tom Welling as Superman

wow TW has a lot of support over on PH if u read through the comments. Although if he couldnt do it, I'd be completely OK with Cavill. Funny that theyre bringing out Victor Webster's name again. It's like 2004 all over again...

Yeah, it just proves Pat's old point that in areas of the pop culture zeitgeist that aren't beholden to one set of geeks, Tom Welling is a big deal. It's just the vocal minority of ultra-fascist Superman fans that cry foul about Smallville/Welling. The general public (and PH gets tens of millions of hits a day) is as general as you can get. (Just as MSN, USA Today, EW and other classic polls of '03-'04).

The support is out there, we just need to continue promoting and getting all our info out there to the fans.

Can you imagine if Tom is cast. This forum will be going bananas and the the Superman forum will be going bananas....but, not in the same way. :D

I wonder is WB's plan to cast a unknown or known. They seem to be set on copying Marvel and TDK so it would be interesting to see what route they go.
We have no clue right now untill wb officially announce who they picked as writers and director of the reboot. I hope we get the news in the next 2 months or so. Robinov did say they would be revealing the dc slate within the next month or so. So crossing fingers we find out soon and that they picked good writers who know the character and a good director that loves the character(and not just a certain film version of the character).

Well, I commented.

I don't hold out much hope for this, I'm not sure it was meant to be with so many missed opportunities so far, but I would love to see him in the suit in a feature.

*crosses fingers*

I still don't know which mind to be of on this. He has been passed over a few times already, so clearly WB is more than happy to do this without him. But these press clippings + the fact that they cannot afford to fail again (financially) could also mean they pick what they would perceive as the safe choice.

I would be interested to read Jack's take, but WB is only getting one more chance at this before they have to bury the character for a while. Would they really ignore such an easy choice for the role?

I still don't get why they're so stupid about picking him. He's the easiest person to market. Guys would watch it if there was action, and you could plaster Welling on every female mag, and they'd watch it because he tends to be easy on the eyes to them.

Hollywood is the twilight zone of common sense, so I guess I don't know either.

yeah, the whole of SHH went ape-crap after Sanchez's infamous JLA announcement. Imagine if it happens for another film and this time is actually true... Trust me, if Welling was to star and they had a capable writing/directing team on board, you'd hear a lot less whining from the peanut gallery over yonder. I'm sure there are some mouth-breathers who could care less who is writing and directing as long as "their guy" is in the cape and tights, but there are a lot more sensible people over there than you think.

If they did it, at the very least, we wouldn't have to go through another casting war. I still have nightmares about the last one.

I'm hoping it doesn't go that far. I'm hoping they only have either Welling or Routh wear the cape. Especially since Routh is willing AND wanting to do it again.........though my preferance is Welling. I just don't want 3 guys being Superman or in the same category for the same period of time.

Color me curious as well.

In my eyes, WB can't keep using the "we want to keep milking Smallville" excuse, because at this point, it's a choice between a TV franchise on its last legs (say what you will about the exciting new season, but shows rarely survive when nearly the entire cast and its showrunners leave) or kick-starting a potentially lucrative film franchise that will reinvigorate a cinematic character they've been trying to revive for more than two and a half decades.

It's a no brainer to me, but WB is apparently run by idiots--except for the ones who green lit Nolan on the Bat franchise. ;)

As a decorated veteran of the Casting Wars and the "JLA Incident" I don't know if I have the energy for another battle.

Maybe I can be like that old guy in the Civil War movies that just walks around playing the flute or beating a drum... :)

Do we get a pension or qualify for a GI Bill because of being casting war vets? Or maybe get a bonus for working in a combat zone?

I hope so, becaue it would sure be nice to get something for all the heartbreak and angst I've been through, especially if they want to call my ass back up for another tour...

;)

Yea i to believe season 8 is most likely going to be the end, we may get a solo ga or jla spin off hopefully to continue the smallville universe and then u know get smallville guys to pop in once in awhile for a guest spot and/or write-direct episodes. I am crossing my fingers PS3 give us a good season and dont make the same mistakes al/miles gave us over the past 7 yrs.

PS3? Are we talking video games or a tv show?

PS3 is the label us fans gave to the new show runners peterson, sounders, slavkin, and swimmer.

With the direction the CW is going, I don't have a lot of confidence in season 8. All the shows look alike, they cancelled Smackdown, rumors of Supernatural being cancelled...........I'm just not confident the new writers will be any different from the 90210 writers.

ok docker but besides from all the stupid relationship stuff everything else we been hearing and seeing looks great. Clark more proactive and out being a hero, working at the planet with lois, ollie going 180 and doesnt think life of a hero is right for him, bringing in plastique, maxima, losh, etc.... Its shaping up to be a good season. As for PS3 they have seemed alot more honest and wanting to give the fans what we want then al/miles ********ting us fans over the years. Also they been writers/producers since season 2 and are probably happy now not to be under the control of al/miles. Now is the season going to be great we will have to wait and see. As for the smackdown thing yes they canceled it due to the narrow minded president dawn O wanting only teen/girl drama crap of gossip girl/90210/etc..... instead of being like other networks and open to different types of shows.

Speaking of the old casting wars. What ever happened to Emi?

she is still around she and her husband steve have the savesuperman site. She hasnt really posted much in the last few months i believe she been busy with real life work.

It is a ****ty label because the Playstation 3 has that label & it is already more known as the PS3. Surely you guys can be more creative then to just copy cat something that already had PS3

I am not the one it made it lol i only used it after i started seeing people say it. Its alot easier then saying peterson/sounders/slavkin/swimmer.
