Yeah, really, the episode where bombs explode in front of their faces and a building falls on them was pretty ridiculous. "Oh noes, my arm is broken!" A bomb exploded a foot away from you; everything should be broken, dude.

Again a t-wood botch job.

Still I think James Masters did a great job of being Spike again. Oh I mean captain John.

Haha, yeah, I like that he was being manipulated and wasn't just a mustache-twirling mastermind. He was just a little crazy, not a bad guy. Of course, all they really did is transfer the mustache-twirling to Gray instead...

Captain john made me wonder if we will ever loose those boundaries with sex. All go bi? I hope not.

Torchwood: Season 3 Confirmed

Rumors about the cancellation of Torchwood can now be put to rest as TV Guide confirms directly from Cardiff that the series will return for a third season. In fact, the new episodes are presently being developed and shooting is expected to start in the middle of August for airing on BB1 in the spring of 2009.

While scripts have been confirmed, Torchwood will not have the usual 13-episode run. Instead, a single five-episode story arc will be presented, possibly all aired in the same week as a mini-series. As of this moment, there is no word yet on when BBC America will run the mini-series.

"We've decided to do a five-part mini-series, one big story that will run during one week," Torchwood executive producer Julie Gardner told TV Guide. "I wanted to make a really big noise about the show."

What happens to Torchwood after that is yet to be known.

Gardner won't reveal too many details about the upcoming season, although she hints on a few things that will hopefully get fans to look forward to the new episodes. As expected, John Barrowman will return as the dashing bi-sexual adventurer Jack Harkness, along with Eve Myles, who reprises her role as Gwen Cooper. Additionally, Gardner vows that fans "will be pleased with the casting."

For those who are not familiar, Torchwoodis a British science fiction drama that centers on a team that is tasked with keeping an eye on the space/time Rift that runs through the city, and on whatever washes through it. It also deals with the activities of the Cardiff branch of the fictional Torchwood Institute, which deals mainly with incidents involving extraterrestrials. Created by Russell T Davies, the show also features Burn Gorman as Dr. Owen Harper, Naoko Mori as Toshiko Sato, and Gareth David-Lloyd as Ianto Jones.

Strange that they mention Gorman and Mori being featured (weren't their characters killed off in the finale?). Also, what does anyone reckon is the likelihood that John Hart (James Marsters) returning for the third series?

Neither are all that great. I was impressed by the region two box for season one. It matched the tone of the show. The red though! It will stand out thats for sure but its not only flourescent its not torchwood.

looks like we will have mickey and martha for the next season then.

I can already hear people complaining, which is ironic considering Martha was the most tolerable character when she appeared on Torchwood in series 2. Put her next to people like Gwen and Ianto, and she's simply awesome.

Did anyone not think the setup for them appearing was pretty ridiculous?

I mean she was okay but I didn't think they used her very well in Torchwood, felt like it was a bit forced to put her in the episodes. I do think she's the most tolerable character in Doctor Who minus the Doctor of course but in Torchwood she doesn't stand up to Gwen even, & Ianto's pretty awesome just needs more character development.

Gwen is a ho who cheated on her boyfriend with Owen, and would leave her husband at the drop of a dime for Jack. Yet we're supposed to believe she's the heart of the team.

I lost all respect for Ianto when he went from "I'll never forgive you for killing my girlfriend, Jack" to "let's do it in the office, Jack" over the space of a couple of episodes.

To tell the truth, I probably wouldn't hate them so much if it wasn't for the first series of Torchwood. RTD tried to hard to be edgy, he made all of his characters unlikeable.

I didn't like either Ianto or Gwen in the first season, especially Gwen but in the second season Ianto became a lot more likeable due to some much needed screentime (bring on more Jack/Ianto sex) & Gwen for me got a tad more likeable but easily the worst out of the team, why didn't they kill her I will never know. Though its suggested Gwen is at the heart of Torchwood I personally think Jack is. I like the rough characterness of the first season too though I did like the episodes toward the end of season two a lot more than the first season since I had dreamed of Tosh & Owen getting it on since series one, Owen & Tosh have always been my favourite characters, Torchwood will never be the same without'em.

torchwood has become considerably more militaristic. jack, a soldier, martha's a soldier, so is mickey (although not officially but has been fighting for freedom). do you think the next series will have more battles and fighting? need less romantic ********.

^

Lets hope so, they only do all the sex/romantic stuff to make it feel more adult and like ratings bost. I really couldn't care about who's shagging who just get on with the story and aliens and fighting lol.

I guess it's their version of taking a year-long haitus like Doctor Who is. Instead of 4 specials, we're getting a whole week of Torchwood. There's no avoiding it when the main channel shows it primetime daily that week, Criminal Justice has just proved that (as a ratings success and a talking point).

I expect it'll be back to normal in 2010.

I liked Ianto in series 2. He was witty and had some great one liners and overall the chemistry of the team was better. By the end of the first series they where about 5 seconds way from killing each other. I think they where alot more likeable series 2. Even Owen didn't seem too bad although I still really dislike Gwen and as long RTD has some control over the Whoverse she is never going to get killed.

I'm actually looking forward to Mickey and Martha on Torchwood, if that is indeed what they're doing. Mickey started off with some hacking skills, and I imagine living in the alternate world probably only added to his skills. Martha's a good doctor and UNIT soldier. They fill the roles and they're a hell of a lot more likeable than anyone else on the show.

Huh, I never thought about that before. Its Mickey replacing Tosh, and Martha replacing Owen. For some reason, I had it the other way around.

Haha, Torchwood could become a very funny sitcom if it involved Mickey trying to perform autopsies and operate on people. :D
