Just watched this and like a few others have been pleasantly surprised, was expecting a disaster which disgraced the original but it didnt.
It gave homage to the original in the first half, but dispensed with that to follow its own story. Farrell was great, Beckinsale and Biel had a lot of fun (and were as always, fun to look/perve at!) and Nighy, Cranston and a couple of others gave great support.
I'll say this for Wiseman as well, the guy can shoot an action sequence, and the future was brilliantly realised, I just thought his characterisation and story telling were off sometimes, which is strange because I thought with Die Hard 4 he directed a good movie all round (yes I liked it), yet here there were a few lapses.
Is it as good as the original? For me, no, but its different enough and entertaining enough to be able to stand on its own as well, 7/10 for me.
