I imagine it will be a deleted scene as a home release extra.

ok i did some searching. Ethan Hawke was playing Hauser. so when they erased his memory they also changed his face. he looks like Ethan Hawke.

so it looks like they did some reshoots.

I saw this last night and was pleasantly surprised. It was different enough to not be a rip-off of the original movie, but had enough nods to the original that showed some respect for what came before.

It was also a darn sight more serious than Arnold's version, which I actually found somewhat refreshing. Colin Farrell made the role his own in, my opinion, which is no mean feat.

I will have to get a hold of the original story by Philip K. Dick so that I can judge for myself which movie is more faithful to the book. But from what I have heard. The latter is the most faithful, i.e. no Mars.

This will be a buy on Blu-ray for me.

I gave it an 8/10

It's not a poorer version of Verhoeven's film, it's actually very different, and a better adaptation of the original novel (but not a better film).

Big Ben's there cause the movie is set in London and Australia, which are the only habitable places left on Earth.

They can only live in London, what happened to the rest of the UK?

Thoroughly enjoyed this flick. I've always said that the kind of movies I like don't have to be great films, they just have to be great entertainment. That's what TR was for me. Far from perfect but still a fun experience.

I did have a few questions though, and I thought maybe some one of you upstanding Hypesters could help me out.

1. [BLACKOUT]If "Quaid" was the fake personality, and Lori & Harry were agents simply acting like his wife/friend, was Quaid's boss also in on the setup? Along with anyone else they may have come in contact with? In the beginning, he goes to his boss about a promotion and said that he's been busting his ass all quarter. Was that memory implanted? Or had he really been working there for months/years? Maybe I missed how long they said he had been living this fake life.[/BLACKOUT]

2. [BLACKOUT]Again, it's certainly possible that I missed this during the course of the film, but how long were Lori & Harry planning on pretending to be major characters in Quaid's life? Just until Cohagen's invasion?[/BLACKOUT]

3. Not a question, but I loved the bit in the beginning with John Cho's character where he says, [BLACKOUT]You could be working for the resistance. Ohh, maybe you work for Cohagen. Why limit yourself? Why not both?[/BLACKOUT] Nice little bit of foreshadowing.

I saw it today and really enjoyed it, I thought Farrell was excellent as Quaid/Hauser and Kate Beckinsale has a lot of fun as the relentless villainess, while Jessica Biel provides an emotional hook for the central plot to play off.

To me the movie did enough of it's own with the already interesting material to make it worthwhile and the future world created by Wiseman was amazingly put together, from the architecture to the gadgets, the vehicles, the amazing elevator and the synthetics, with clear influences but again enough of it's own identity.

The film has some of the best action this year with the Hovercar chase being a stunning standout and I also loved the anti gravity shootout, plus there are some cool nods to the Arnie version within the sequences.

My only complaint is that Nighy and Cranston were underused as the film was so tightly focused on Quaid's journey.

I saw this yesterday...it was pretty good. Pretty much what I was expecting but I was hoping for a little more. I loved the world of Total Recall and the action sequences were well done but I didn't really care for much else. I really wish they would've worked on the script more and maybe put more emphasis on characterization. It didn't really feel like these characters were fleshed out very well. I would've LOVED to have seen what a more cerebral director like Christopher Nolan would've done with a film like this...but alas, we got Len Wiseman...and while it's not that great of a movie, it was still a pretty fun watch.

Just watched this and like a few others have been pleasantly surprised, was expecting a disaster which disgraced the original but it didnt.

It gave homage to the original in the first half, but dispensed with that to follow its own story. Farrell was great, Beckinsale and Biel had a lot of fun (and were as always, fun to look/perve at!) and Nighy, Cranston and a couple of others gave great support.

I'll say this for Wiseman as well, the guy can shoot an action sequence, and the future was brilliantly realised, I just thought his characterisation and story telling were off sometimes, which is strange because I thought with Die Hard 4 he directed a good movie all round (yes I liked it), yet here there were a few lapses.

Is it as good as the original? For me, no, but its different enough and entertaining enough to be able to stand on its own as well, 7/10 for me.

Same I just watched it too

The only thing I didnt really like was the lack of the "fun" factor that the original had. Other than that it was a decent 7/10 movie to me

^Yeah, a few moments of humour wouldnt of hurt, but overall I really enjoyed the movie, and Beckinsale had a lot of fun with her role.

While Farrell was really good, a couple more moments of humour from him would have been better.

Looking forward to the extended version of this movie to be released on DVD December 18th. ;) Hopefully a mix of action sequences and more character development.

Has it been confirmed that there is an extended cut? if so how much added time?

^Have they confirmed how much is going to be added in? If its the whole 17 mins I may just get this.

^I think it is, I have seen the UK cover and it says it includes an extended cut as well as the theatrical.

I know. I watched it twice yesterday. Once with my dad and then with my friend. :D Looking forward to the extended cut. Wish the dec 18th was here already.

I really dig the soundtrack. Been listening to it ever since I downloaded it. Its so awesome.

Right?? This deserved basically NONE of the hate it got in my eyes. I was really surprised by this
