TPBs Bought/Thought Thread

I BOUGHT THE QUESTION VOL. 1 ZEN & VIOLENCE
THE QUESTION VOL. 2 POISONED GROUND

i enjoyed them both, and I am a big fan of The Question, but I dunno IF I SHOULD GET VOL. 3 - 6 when they come out!

IF ANY OF YoU ARE FAMILIAR W/ the series, WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS????????

I really liked Zen and Violence. I've yet to get vol.2 but its on my list. You can't go wrong with Dennis O'Neil and Denys Cowan

Just bought Y: The Last Man vol. 6 and A History Of Violence. Both were great. I preferred the movie version ending of A History Of Violence where

Richie was the bad guy

Just bought Showcase: The Phantom Stranger Vol. 2

The Walking Dead vol 1, 2, 3......dying to read vol 4 WOW!

Preacher: Vol 1. Gone To Texas

Batman: Hush

Batman: The Long Halloween

Watchmen

Daredevil by Frank Miller Omnibus Companion

Daredevil Visionaries Vols 1 and 2

just bought:

Moonstone Monsters Vol. 1
daredevil: guardian devil
green arrow: quiver
sounds of violence
the longbow hunters
batman: strange apparitions

jsa:justice be done. jsa:darkness falls. jsa:return of hawkman. the flash greatest stories ever told and green lantern no fear.

Finally picked up V For Vendetta. I'm only at the part where V sneaks into the TV station but still a ******* amazing book.

I guess I always wished V didn't die... I mean call me stoopid, but I really like ongoing stories w/ great characters & V dies so...

Yeah but V dying and not being in anything else makes the story that much more epic as a whole.

i just got strange apparitions... i would say that apart from denny oneil, it is the arc/ group of stories that has made Batman what he is... I love it!

One of th best IMO, a lotta folks don't like it cuz' they claim it's dated or something, but it is what makes Batman who he is.

Just got Y: The Last Man Vol. 7. Still amazing.

Also got Ultimate Spiderman Vol. 14. The series has gone down a few notches since the Carnage tpb. Still good though.

I certainly enjoyed the Neverwhere comic more than the DVDs. And it's the exact same story.

NOVEL. SO much better.

Indeed. I picked up the TPB just out of curiosity. It was interesting to see some of the characters like the Marquis illustrated, but on the whole really paled in comparison. You're really doing yourself a disservice if you don't read the novel first.

When I heard that it was being released, I got rather excited, until I realized Neil Gaiman had nothing to do with it.

Since then I have tried to forget it's existence.

I bought The Justice Society Returns.

It's one of those books that has been sitting on my Amazon wishlist for ages but I've always put it off because there are always more "important" books i feel I should read but I'm glad I decided to get it.

It's nothing ground breaking but you can see how this grew into the modern JSA series and here you get James Robinson, Mark Waid, Ron Marz and Geoff Johns writing a Golden Age tale all set in the late 40s. It's laid out a bit like Seven Soldiers an opening and a closing book and 5 one shots inbetween and is basically the writers exploring these Golden Age characters again after what was a long time in limbo.

It's really good fun, and really with this and Golden Age it's the most DC have spent in that time period - more than anything it made me wish that writers took more time to tell stories set in the 40s because there is so much that can be done with these guys.

It also really made me realize how much the new Justice Society of America book is lacking compared to JSA and I hope Johns can take a step back and see that this books strength was it's link to the past and not it's link to alternative worlds.

Anyone who loved JSA will enjoy this and I'm sure you can pick it up for a very small price.

Also kind of fun Chris Weston actually provides art for the Sandman/Sandy and Star-Spangled Kid/Stripesy story with him now doing the Twelve it's like he is a perfect fit for the Golden Age.
