Train fight

No way Ock can beat Hulk! Hulk strongest one there is!

That's because Green Goblin would make Doc Ock his *****.
IMO, GReen GOblin is Spidey's greatest VIllian, but I don't think that people could say "That wouldn't happen" when it comes to Ock giving Green GOblin a huge challenge and possibly snappnig him and half. Hell, it's most likely. :yay:

I didn't like any of the fights in Spidey 1. The best fight was the fire and that wasn't that great. For whatever reason, lack of budget I guess, the fights didn't capture Spidey and the Goblin's unique abilities as the fights in Spidey 2did with Spidey and Ock. The first fight with Harry in Spidey 3 crushed all of the Goblin fights in 1 put together.

In Spidey 1 they should've used the choreography from ASMs #40, 97 & 122.

Ridiculous. Ock can take on multiple super powered opponents without breaking a sweat:

Ock even whupped the Hulk once.

Ock's tentacles can match the strength and speed of Goblin, Spidey, and many other super powered foes. It's one of the many reasons why he's on Spidey's A-list.

Fact is that Spidey's powers were very poorly shown in that final fight with Goblin. It had to be the mere mention of MJ to make him really fight back. Sigh, all about the girl....
1-"breaking a sweat" would imply that his own physical being was required to be involved. It wasn't. That's one of many things I love about Ock; he can be beating the crap out of you and still be free to make himself a martini.
2-in all fairness, even the Hulk can't beat adamantium, which is what Ock's arms were made of in that story arc.
3-I chalked up Spidey's performance in the first movie to his still being new at the whole superhero thing. So some of his moves were a little clumsy and he seemed unsure of himself. I actually found it reasonably plausible, especially seeing him two years later with soem experience under his belt. Now he knew how to better put his strength, speed and agility to use in a fight, and had even learned a new trick with his webbing. Then, too, in the final fight he had just wrestled with a tram car-getting beat on while doing so-then got flung through a building and BLOWN UP. You're not gonna be at your best under these circumstances. And as for it taking a threat to MJ to get him back in the fight, you say that like it's an uncommon thing. Supervillains making speeches when victory is in their grasp, then saying the wrong thing, pissing off the hero & getting stomped. Not uncommon. Hero failing to act or being driven by thoughts of the girl. Not uncommon. Hero putting the girl before EVERYTHING else in the world. Not uncommon at all. In fact it's typical.

Exactly

Actually the severe mental strain of the control he often has to apply to controlling the tentacles in serious battles has caused him to sweat.

Like any mental strain would. He doesn't get physically tired though.

2-in all fairness, even the Hulk can't beat adamantium, which is what Ock's arms were made of in that story arc.

But the physics of Ock's movements is the same. The tentacles moved swift enough to catch Hulk, and combat him. As they do with any super powered foe he encounters.

That's the point. The fact that their strength is enhanced only further proves how lethal he is to be able to beat down a power house like the Hulk.

3-I chalked up Spidey's performance in the first movie to his still being new at the whole superhero thing.

Then why did he beat Gobby in their first two battles? And manage to save innocents in the process? But one on one with Goblin, he couldn't take him until MJ was verbally threatened. Suddenly Goblin was the one who was out of his depth, and got his ass handed to him mercilessly.

And as for it taking a threat to MJ to get him back in the fight, you say that like it's an uncommon thing. Supervillains making speeches when victory is in their grasp, then saying the wrong thing, pissing off the hero & getting stomped. Not uncommon. Green Goblin had already tried to kill Peter's Aunt and MJ. This alone should have been enough for Peter to stomp him when they met. It shouldn't have taken MJ being threatened for a THIRD time to make him grow a pair and beat Goblin down.

The fact is that it was just a poor display of Spidey's powers, and a show of weakness that it takes MJ being in peril to give him the kick up the butt he needs.

It's always MJ that's the tipping point in these movies for Peter to redeem himself. Ock kidnaps MJ, and he flies back into action as Spidey. Venom and Sandman kidnap MJ, and he flies back into action as good Spidey again.

no matter how rubbish the spidey franchise gets (and it looks like it's going down the toilet) I've always have the train fight :csad:

I'm still waiting for a comic book movie action sequence that comes close.

Saw SM2 again today and was once again blown away by the train scene..!!!!

I watched Spidey 2 for the first time in a while the other day and that whole train fight sequence is still amazing. Even after great films like The Dark Knight and Iron Man have come out in recent times,I still consider that train fight in Spider-man 2 the best action sequence in any comic book film. Anyone agree?
Just the way the whole scene started was awesome just by itself. The music blasting as Spidey returns, swinging through the steel buildings of New York on his way to battle Doc Ock. Then, when we get to Spidey having to slow down the runaway train, well that was and still is, a "hold you breath" kinda moment. Great suspense and drama(although you knew Spidey would save everyone)!

The Spidey vs Doc Ock "train fight" scene is probably the best superhero fight scene I have ever seen.

Now that I think about it, the battle in ROTF between Optimus, Megatron, Starscream, & that helicopter dude in the forest was on par with Spidey's "train fight".

Go check it out

The train fight is one of my favorite action scenes of any movie, period
Even with the silliness of the super powered punches not damaging Ock's normal face when they connect

Stupid lag!!!

Here's my explanation for this:

1. This Doc Ock had A.I. wired into his brain and central nervous system. So he certainly wasn't going to be losing consciousness.
2. Spidey pulls his punches. Where would his 'With great power comes great responsibility' philosophy be if he used his great strength to put his fist through Ock's face?

Makes lots of sense, especially if those two things got combined

Personally,I don't think Spidey was holding back at all. In the heat of a brutal battle you almost turn off your brain and just react. There were several moments were Ock should have been seriously hurt, but wasn't. The moment when he gets smashed against the taxy during the bank robbery fight comes to mind.

The one thing that did kinda bother me about that final Goblin/Spidey fight was when Spidey spins that huge web to catch the Goblin, and instead of getting stuck in it,the Green Goblin just tears free and it sounds like he's breaking glass. Huh? Didn't get that one.

Ehhhhhh.

I think it's good but I still think it isn't AS good as everyone says it is. It's good, yes...up until Spidey's stopping of the train. I'm sorry, but Tobey's face is laughable in that scene.

If I had to stop a speeding train with all my strength and might, the facial expressions I would be making would be far worse.

Maybe the same would happen to me
I don't think the face of Tobey was funny in that scene

It's only really Sam Raimi who has really built on the promise of Superman II's climactic battle all those years ago. Movies like The Incredible Hulk, Fantastic Four and Iron Man have been pretty lame in that regard.

ALso the glove and mask was seperate and so was the boots. You can see that on the part right before spidey return where JJ actually feeling sorry for spidey. How did that all stay attached?

Movie magic.

There were several different outfits made for different purposes. For the scene in question, a suit was made as separate pieces to make you think that's how the suit really is, since the comics depict the suit as being several pieces. But in reality, unless you saw Spidey take off his mask, the suit was all one piece.

I didn't like the Superman II climax at all. Between the cellophane shield trap, the holograms and the energy beams from the Kryptonians' fingertips, it was all just too hokey for words.

I'm pretty sure he is talking about the fight in the city.
