Demons, creatures from another dimension called Britlingens, other fae specific characters like Elves, Nymphs, etc, and other animal specific weres, like there is a Were-Tiger that's a relatively large presence in a few of the upcoming books after book 4.
With Tigers being my favourite animal, I like this. Although I hope they are a bigger threat to Vampires than Were-Wolves are. It was such a disappointment for them to be spoken of in a such a negative light and then during their first appearance, Bill takes out about 5 with no trouble at all.
I feel that the True Blood universe is missing something, and that is the presence of a powerful yet peaceful species.
If you look at the supernatural world as a parallel to the natural world, I think you could say that Vampires are something like Lions. They're fast, strong and generally feared. But even the Lion has herbivorous it wouldn't stand a chance against. Elephants, Hippos and Rhino's.
Where are the respective Elephants of the True Blood world? Kind compassionate supernaturals, who generally keep to themselves, have no desire for the domination of humans, or the extinction of Vampires. And yet, should they be given a reason to be vengeful, even the oldest Vampire would run in fear.
Lastly, I find Tera's Atheism to confusing. In our world, Atheism makes sense, but how do you lack the belief in anything when dead men walk the earth for millennia and your cousin has been possessed by the spirit of a witch you saw die? I could have understood her once being an athiest, but surely the last few years would have given her enough proof of something after this life?
