Much better pics now! It's a shame they didn't show the BTS pics first. We wouldn't have minded at all!

Why do the reveal photos always look like Crap compared to bts pics?

I think it was a full composite pic. They cut and pasted from several sources, including a stock pic of Supergirl in standard pose. That's why the angles and sizes were all off.

Also, I don't mind that this Superman doesn't have that "big" muscle look.

I actually think the big muscle look can be a bit distracting, and a little unrealistic. (and yes I know it's all make-believe anyway...:cwink:) But Supes doesn't have to be a huge beefcake in order to be strong. He can be as thin as a twig and still throw buses into orbit. I think Hoechlin has a good physic that shows strength without being overdone.

And.....3......2.......1.................lol

And YES!! He looks like Clark Kent!

Meaning a little dorky, and a little unprepossessing. Perfect.

Ok, I'm taking the bait. Jimmy isn't just taller than Superman he is bigger and a more towering presence. I mean wth!? Like, it looks as if Jimmy is Superman and Clark is Jimmy if you know what I mean.

the first time in history where the actor who plays Jimmy Olsen could probably beat up the guy who plays superman

what a world we live in

Only because society judges books by their cover.... ;)

And.....3......2.......1.................lol

Keep in mind that a 6' tall, athletically built man is not exactly small, but it is weird seeing Jimmy Olsen towering over Clark Kent. Hollywood casting agents must not pay any attention to the height of actors these days, I guess. It explains how we almost got a movie with a 5'10 Superman and a 6'5 Batman.

Still, Hoechlin looks great in the behind the scenes pics and the suit is nearly movie-quality. Love the very Reeve-inspired S symbol too.

The S symbol isn't Reeve inspired. It's the traditional one, more like the Alex Ross version.

Keep in mind, when the show started they weren't thinking about Superman, but Supergirl. James' height didn't matter as he would be taller than the pretty Kryptonian anyway.

Personally, I don't care about the height difference. Hoechlin looks good in both guises.

It's the same S as Reeve, but Reeve's is not as muted in color....but the S is exactly the same.

It certainly helps Clark as a disguise...lol

I'm talking about how the serif at the top is v-shaped rather than being kinda large, square, and ending at a 90 degree angle like the comics logo, and the tail of the S gradually widens rather than being a distinct oval. Believe me, I know the Reeve symbol like the back of my hand and can see elements of it in this one.

They look the same to me, but whateva....

Ok, I'm seriously about to post a side-by-side comparison between the usual on-merchandise S symbol, the Reeve symbol, and Hoechlin's. I feel like I'm going insane here. lol

Well, Kelly beat me to it, but a refresher on what the standard S symbol looks like would probably help the argument too.

I'm actually getting used to the belt, but those boots start to look even worse.

Jimmy: "I moved to National City to get out of Superman's shadow."
Superman: "Actually, it's so I could get out of Jimmy's shadow.....literally. :o"
