Supergirl Season 4, Episode 9: "Elseworlds, Part 3" (MAJOR SPOILERS)

Anyone else think Chyler's wig was pretty bad? :funny:

If Superman was unsure in the Star Labs, it's likely because of Lois and what he saw in the Book of Destiny concerning Kara and Barry.

However when you watch the entire Elseworlds crossover in terms of Superman being involved in the Monitor and Book of Destiny stuff, he didn't know about it until Barry and Oliver came to him in the Fortress. He may or may not know about the Monitor either unless he had experience with him as I wished they would address it.

This was why I felt it was a mistake for Superman to return to Earth-38 in the Flash part at the end so that he can stay behind and get involved. It was also a mistake to set Batwoman in Earth-1 since she and Supergirl have struck a friendship.

I get that Superman probably did not have as much info has the others had (i.e. The Monitor) since he arrived late but I do not believe that it justifies Superman for being so clueless as to what he should do next. I am actually happy that we did not see him working with Iris or Felicity because the last thing that I want is to see him take orders from them like a helpless pup.

I mean he is supposed to be a veteran in this field. I am assuming that he must have faced several crises back in his day. So even if he was thinking about Lois, it should not affect his ability to be Superman. If the thought of Lois really hinders his ability to work as a superhero then God help everyone on Earth 38 if she dies because I could easily see Tyler's Superman becoming the Injustice one.

Just finished this one, it was great but I definitely think Part 1 was the strongest of the three.

Superman vs Superman was F’n cool and I’m starting to think the Superman spin off might just happen. Why? Because although he sort of retired, he siad he’d be back and it lines up with the comics him and Lois having a son. You have to ask too if he’s just a guest star why give him and Lois that proposal scene in the Fortress?

I will admit, the results of the fight aside, the aerial fight between the two Supermen was cool to look at. Though I thought the shot of that woman saying bizarro felt so oddly placed.

I am assuming that the proposal scene was just the producers kind way of retiring the couple.

Even if Superman were to try to take charge it wouldn’t sit with Green Arrow since it’s not his Earth.

Injustice could be something to cover on a possible Superman series.

The producers are open to using Superman and Lois again when the storylines and schedules permit.

Honestly, Superman would not even need to take charge. It was just a case where he should have looked so clueless and lost as to what he could do to help.

And frankly, I am not so sure if I do want to see this Superman return since he always ends up getting defeated while giving pep talks to Kara on how she is stronger than him.

Well, I enjoyed the episode. Like many, I assume Oliver will die in the next crossover event.

Cisco was funny.

I thought the Supermen fight was going to be another reference to MOS like they've done before. Also, I want to see more of that hammer.

I laughed at J'onn saying he'll protect the people because right after he said that, I thought, "What about the fire?" And then there's some fire, which didn't seem to hurt/touch him, I guess.

I guess we'll have to wait like a year or so for Superman to show up again... just in time for the next crossover event.

I wonder if they'll actually combine the various Earths. Maybe not into one, but less than an infinite number like 52. :sly:

Definitely seemed like they were attempting to lay the groundwork for a Superman solo series.

Separating Kara from Oliver and Barry was definitely a mistake. Hurt the overall feel of this part, compared to the others.

I am kind of curious as to how Crisis is going to work out, as they said fall, not winter. Mini-series?

I still think Crisis on Earth X is the best crossover as a whole of any of them but I think Elseworlds Part One was the best individual episode of any crossover episodes ever. If that makes sense,

Going forward I really need a more team feel like Legends when it comes to crossovers instead of it just centering around Barry/Oliver and ultimately Oliver.

I didn't feel like this needed the Legends but I hope to see them back for Crisis on Infinite Earths

Btw, do the supergirl writers not realize that Barry is capable of phasing out from Superman's grip?

It's also funny on how the Deagon could have easily defeated all of the heroes again after he had reclaimed the book. Bad writing there.

I want to see both Superman and Lois Lane for the Crisis On Infinite Earths, which you can't do without them.

Legends of Tomorrow will likely be included in Crisis unless CW doesn't renew them.

so.....who's the guy in the mask at the end supposed to be?

It's Psycho-Pirate. He uses the mask to control people's emotions or change their personalities. Psycho-Pirate plays a vital role in the Crisis comics.

Any clue why the Deegan character looked like a boiled frog at the end?

Any chance the baby might be Superboy?

Baby will most likely be Superboy Jon Kent since he's the current one from the comics.

As for Deegan looking boiled, probably because of the combination of the book and whatever arrow Oliver shot.

I see, thanks.

the name sounds familiar. think his mask was in a Raven miniseries or something.

Probably some sort of cosmic arrow given to him by Mar Novu, that could actually destroy the book.

This was not a Supergirl episode. She was barely in it. She was locked up a lot of the time and was not the prime mover of events. She was more of a guest star in her own show.

It was Oliver and Barry who were the main characters. And ultimately Oliver since he was the one who confronted Monitor. It should have been Kara. In her own show she can't be the one to save the day?

And it didn't even end with her but with Barry and Oliver. Couldn't they have at least put that bit in earlier and then ended with Kara? She was nowhere to be seen. She was short changed and didn't get the chance to shine like Oliver and Barry.

I didn't enjoy this crossover all that much. Why can't they make it a more Supergirl centric crossover? I thought it would be this time but it wasn't.

I felt a similar way, which was why I said The Supermen and Green Arrow were the standouts.

In looking at the first half of Supergirl’s 4th season I wanted to like it as I couldn’t because she was hardly in it.
