Supergirl Tyler Hoechlin IS Superman

It looks like Superman was infected with the Kardashian Kryptonite.

CW's Superman!

I think the costume looks fantastic. Of all the CW shows, aside from Supergirl, this is by far the best looking suit. Tyler looks much better in the set photos than in the promo shot. But even Melissa Benoist's promo shot was criticized pretty heavily. But the superman costume looks friggin' good. Perfect? Nah. If it was a movie costume, I could probably complain that they went cheap. But for a TV series on a CW budget, they did a damn fine job.

The Reeve S and the Supergirl S? Not even CLOSE.

So, apart from utilizing more of the pentagon of Returns, you can pretty much do:

with bottom of this

yields

even though they smooth it out a bit

And.....3......2.......1.................lol

He looks absolutely tiny. And people were saying how they could use camera angles etc to make Tyler look taller. I guess they were never going for that. And as I said before, Mechad is just bigger built over all, not just taller, and it shows here. Superman really does look like Jimmy and not a superhero at all here. I bet he's barely taller than Wynn.

Mehcad is 6'3", Hoechlin is 6', I think something about the photo is making the height difference seem bigger than it is.

Maybe reality? Perhaps he's not really 6' but shorter? There looks more than a 3 inch difference here. And he just looks a much smaller scale.

Nerd time: I love talking about the differences between each of the S and Batman symbols. Soooo...

The Reeve and Hoechlin S's aren't even close to being identical, though there are two similarities....

Standard S:

Well… it depends how much of the Kool-Aid has been drunk. To an outsider, all the symbols - an “S” nested within a pentagon - look the same. :whatever: But hyper-nerds could come to blows over the minute differences between the 1964 and 1966 versions. :cwink:

I agree with your designation of the “standard S.” Now, Supergirl might have gone more modern/stylized - with something like the Superman Returns or Man of Steel symbol. But they stuck with “standard.”

Arguably, the Reeve/STM and the Cain/L&C symbols are “standard” too. But in each of those cases, the actual graphic on the costume was a tad odd or off (not to say sloppy and crooked :word:). And a persnickety nerd might say that such deviations count against the “standard” designation. On the other hand, Supergirl’s “S” is clean, neat and quintessentially “standard.”

The suit looks a lot better now in these new photos, but holy crap that ass :oldrazz:

Has Tyler's ass been photoshopped in that pic? It looks like it's been worked over.

Brooks was a total miscast.

He is same height (more or less) as Matt Bomer.

Brooks was a total miscast.

As Jimmy Olsen, they could have made him some other original character like Winn and actor playing Winn should have been cast as Jimmy Olsen.

Anyone ever thought that one day we'd see Superman shorter than Jimmy Olsen?

Brooks has at least a couple of inches on Hoechlin. But the first photo seems to exaggerate the difference. This is probably more accurate:

Is it just me or they have told Brooks to slouch a bit when walking with Hoechlin ?

I should guess that Hoechlin is not standing on a box in this image.
At least the height difference now is easier to get with, still, I didn't expect to see this height difference.

I dunno…

Of all the shirt styles that might disguise a muscular build, the one selected for Brooks DOES NOT do that. :cwink: So it seems the powers-that-be aren’t fretting too much that James is bigger than Clark/Superman.

They're just going the Earth One route with his size, which is one of the few good ideas that comic had.

Whenever Earth One is brought up, I keep thinking of the Justice League world before Crisis on Infinite Earths.
I hate naming those graphic novels (or are they mini series?) "Earth One".

I must agree. That and I'll need for Berlanti and co to slow their roll on changing key supporting characters.

Looking at the Kent and Olsen pic posted made me facepalm. I can see Lobo or Doomsday towering over him but not the Daily Planet's resident photographer

My whole desire is that Clark comes across with the same strong charisma that Kara does, along with the huge heart. If they get that right, I'm good with everything else.
