Can't wait to see the Gamefaqs Forums reactions. That should be fun to watch

IGN.COM have reposted the ASSASSINS CREED REPORT

September 1, 2006 - Ubisoft sent us word that Assassin's Creed, the next-gen title that wowed everyone and their mother at this year's E3, is indeed coming to Xbox 360. The latest news confirms what has been rumored for so long and comes hot on the heels of news earlier this week that the game would be coming to the PC. Assassin's Creed on Xbox 360 will be released to coincide with the Playstation 3 version in the first quarter of 2007. The title is being developed by Ubisoft's Montreal team, the same group that has put out gems such as Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

For those that haven't been following Assassin's Creed, we'll give a quick rundown of what you can expect. The game takes place in the year 1191 during the Third Crusade. The main character, Altair, is an assassin out to shape the course of history. Assassin's Creed is an action title with stealth elements, high flying acrobatics, and intense sword combat.

PS3 has no exclusivity be it timed or whatever. Both versions will release on the same day.

BTW... Expect a demo to hit XBL during X06 (not the earlier TGS however :( )

Damn straight! Move this muthe****ing thread to the muther****ing Misc. and Multiplatform games forum.

In your face, Zenien! :down::mad:

Jesus, GAMESPOT is a scary place. This is what gets posted in the talkback...

PS3 version should have high def textures duo to the blu ray disk compared to 360, if not that Ubi sucks

This Sux. Microsoft stole another game. Now Ubisoft have to port the game and it wont look next gen on PS3 anymore now because of the ****box

well, at least that's proof that Assassin's Creed doesn't have that super graphics as everybody thought if they can also easily 'port' the game to 360

Oh God... Fail :down

Fanboys are the bane of humanity's already doomed existence.:(

Same day??!?!?!

AWESOME!!!

Oh Sony fans. I weep for you...

THE TRULY SAD PART IS, IT'S THAT WAY IN EVERY PS2/PS3-RELATED FORUM. MOST OF THE SONY FANBOYS ARE UNDER-EDUCATED TEENS, WHO STILL HAVE TO BEG MOM AND DAD FOR $$ TO BUY THEIR GAMES, AND DON'T KNOW S**T ABOUT ANYTHING. THE PRIMARY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SONY AND MS, MARKETING-WISE IS:

  • SONY TARGETS THE "LOYAL" JAPANESE, AND STUPID AMERICAN PARENTS, WHO DON'T BOTHER RESEARCHING ANYTHING BEFORE THEY BUY IT (YOU CAN PRETTY MUCH BLAME THEM FOR 'ROCKSTAR'S PROBLEMS OVER THE YEARS, SINCE THE 'PS2' VERSIONS OF THEIR GAMES FAR OUTSOLD/OUTRENTED THE XBOX VERSIONS). THEY BUY THEIR BRATTY KIDS WHATEVER THE F**K THEY WANT, AND THEY'LL BELIEVE ANYTHING A SALESMAN TELLS THEM........JUST LIKE THEIR KIDS BELIEVE ANYTHING THEY HEAR FROM KAZ, KEN, AND PHIL.
  • MS PRIMARILY TARGETS THE 19-40 CROWD, IN EUROPE AND THE U.S., WHO TEND TO BE MUCH MORE EDUCATED, INFORMED, AND HAVE THEIR OWN MONEY........AND OPINIONS. THEY DON'T LISTEN TO HIGH-TECH BULLS**T, BECAUSE THEY'RE OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW BETTER.

Anyone who thinks that having an extra 30gb of space on Blu-Ray means better textures in game than the X360 with its superior texture memory needs to die a horrible and slow death.

THE 'PS3' DISCS WILL NEVER BE UTILIZED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE EXTRA SPACE........AT LEAST NOT FOR THE PURPOSE OF IMPROVING THE GAME QUALITY.

FROM 'OZYMANDIAS':

"I've already written some thoughts about Blu-ray's capacity being irrelevant for games in this generation. In that article I stated that while I believed we'd see games released on larger discs, I didn't believe the content on those discs would directly impact the game itself (versus having "making of" or other random bonus material).

Appears this is the case with Resistance. A recent interview with the developer in the Unofficial Playstation Magazine stated that the 22 GB "game" size was made up of localized content. In other words, instead of having an English version of the game, a French version, a Japanese version, and so on on separate discs, all of that localized content is simply being bundled on one disc. While that makes things a bit easier for the developer, the disc capacity isn't being used in any meaningful way to improve the game. And frankly, I believe time will show (after the game is released and people start poking around the file system) that there isn't any reason the title couldn't have shipped on a DVD-9
."

WHAT HE'S REFERRING TO

I LOVE THIS QUOTE FROM THE FULL ARTICLE:

"IGN: 40-player online is pretty ambitious for a game that has this much data being tossed about at once. What convinced you that you could upgrade from 32 to 40 without any problems and how will the game deal with a few poor connections amongst the solid ones?

Eric C. Ellis, Lead Online Gameplay Programmer: We set a target to run with 32 players at 60 frames per second and we hit that goal solidly for our E3 demo. After hitting that target, (which we were pretty proud of), and getting a lukewarm reaction to those numbers, we went back and decided that what would show off next-gen power better was a game with more stuff blowing up and more players.

So, we made the decision to run at 30 frames per second and add more players and a greater level of things that explode along with more environmental effects. To make sure we run well over the internet with that many players, we have all spent a lot of time running with artificially high latency and packet loss so that we make sure our systems are designed to handle them without looking bad.

SO, ERIC......WHAT YOU'RE TELLING US IS, YOU REALIZED THE SUPERIOR PS3, COULDN'T HANDLE SUBSTANCE, AND SPEED.......SO YOU HAD TO MAKE SACRIFICES TO MAKE THE GAME INTERESTING? FASCINATING. SO WHY EXACTLY WOULD I PLUNK DOWN $700 TO PLAY YOUR GAME AGAIN?

That one is actually my favorite, since the 360's ram setup and system bandwidth would lend itself towards having better textures than the PS3. It's always nice to see people talk about technical matters they don't understand :o

To be honest, I couldn't give two ****s about whether or not the textures are better. As long as the gameplay is great, then I'm happy

Ah, that would explain why the PS3 version of F.E.A.R has crappier textures (blurry, less sharp and less detailed) than the 360 version.

I think that fact that the 360 has been out for an additional year, giving developers greater understanding of how to push the system, is another explanation.

WELL, MONOLITH ALSO RELEASED 'CONDEMNED' AS A DAY-1 LAUNCH TITLE FOR THE '360'.......AND THEY LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME, GRAPHICALLY..........SO, THERE GOES THAT THEORY.

Yeah, that is another explanation. That's a wrong explanation, not supported by facts or common sense, but yeah, you could explain it like that if you wanted to. The PS2 was out for how long before the Gamecube and the Xbox? Giving them how much time to figure out the hardware? And what happened? Oh, that's right, Xbox and Gamecube launch games demolished PS2's 2nd, and even late 3rd generation titles in the graphics department. It's not an issue of one system being more familiar than another, it's an issue of one system having more horsepower and being more developer friendly, and the other system having a bunch of failed projects inside the plastic that also happens to leave developers to code straight to metal. Unless someone manages to find a way to power their games via hype and "potential", the current status quo won't be changing, no matter how experienced developers get with the PS3.

In this case though, despite you're baised ramblings, it's much more the fact that developers have more familiar hardware to work with on the 360 then the PS3. The PS3 is day and night compared to the tool support and ease of use of the PS2 according to many developers, but it's still a new architecture that they have to code in such a way that's different from normal PC architecture, much more so then the 360 architecture.

Carmack has said so that they two systems are very close and the PS3 has 'marginally moderatedly more power' obviously the 360 will probably display higher texture peaks because of the way their unified ram allow for that, but both systems are very close, and this is the generation where it'sgoing to be down to the developer, and the funding., more so then it was the last generation even.
