Uncanny Avengers

Eh, I'm cautious on his Rogue. I like sass but not straight up attitude. I feel like she's progressed beyond that.

But one thing's for certain, it's certainly better than emo :)

Rogue has been a mess of a character since CC wrote her in Xtreme. She is finally recognizable again for the first time in over a decade. Now I only hope for him to find some way to restore her strength/flight/invulnerability powers. Why doesn't he just go get one of those AoA or other AR character to have her perma-absorb

I really miss her having powers like that. Did they strip her of the Ms Marvel powers to be more in line with the movies/X-Men Evolution cartoon?

Yep. She also didnt have them in Ultimate Xmen nor the WaTX cartoon. It was all about streamlining the character. New readers and fans of the Xmen are likely not even aware she had those. I remember playing Xmen Legends a few years back with a younger cousin and he was shocked that Rogue could fly in the game

Yeah, I remembered her not having those powers in Ultimate, but it's been a long time since I watched Wolverine and the X-Men.

I'm not sure I'd want her to "Power sap" anyone's powers. That would be a sign of losing control again and it took long enough for her to GAIN control. Falling back into that grey area would inevitably bring emo-Rogue back.

Then again, Sunfire made her do it so a part of him would live on when he was supposedly dying (before being saved by Apocalypse). I suppose if it's something like that it'd make sense. Too bad the AoA Rogue is already dead.

Mike Carey dropped the ball with Rogue once she became the focus of Legacy. His X-men Rogue wasn't bad, but she had no personality in Legacy. All she would do is combine everyone's powerset and save the day, and relate everyone's problems to herself. And her relationship with Magneto was dumb.

Not really especially if it was forced on her. Or they could just have her regain her MM powers. Back when she got them, they said that her DNA fused with Carol’s so its possible she still has the potential to access them, but they’ve only been dormant since her powers went haywire in X-treme. Maybe an external trigger can reactivate them

Her relationship with Magneto spanned farther back than just Carey....that was just him continuing an ongoing story.

Mike Carey did a wonderful job on spotlighting Rogue and I think Remender will do her justice. The scene when the Wasp and Wonderman walk in and she is talking about Chuck's picture just seemed like classic X-Men to me. I also feel that the relationship with Magneto and Rogue seemed forced.....

Yeah Magneto and Rogue was always creepy, I don't care how many times he's been de-aged

And I just want confirmation that she does still have full control of her powers

Being all covered up head-to-toe and angsty, it seems like she's reverted
I know she's upset about Chuck, but do we really have to go through all that again?

Man, that guy gives a good disarming interview
he should be a politician

Yeah, he did defuse it a tiny bit with the explanation but the moral to the story still stands....

theres nothing to suggest that she doesnt

And whats that? Don't tell people that call you racist and attack your character to drown in hobo piss?:o

Except a lot of the people who took issue with that speech weren't just Internet trolls.

Yeah which he admits to but like I said before it was obvious to me that the hobo piss request was directed at those people on Twitter who were attacking him directly. I know, because I follow him on Twitter.

My opinion is that as a public figure he needs to articulate better in the face of criticism. Yeah, he meant to direct it towards a specific group of people being jerks to him, but signals were easily crossed as they usually are when it comes to these things and it became more of a headache for him.

My opinion is that he got very upset at the labels that were given to him, acted out and sent some tweets that he really shouldn't have. I am not a writer, but if I were I bet I would get hot if I were attacked also - but you need to control that in order to control situations that he is in now. Rick is an awesome writer, dudes got skills, and it is just too bad that this happened. Reading his interview I can clearly see his point and why he got upset.

I am just confused at why people have to label specific minorities to the word "Mutant". Like Rick said - its what you want it to be. It is not everything to everyone. Getting a little personal here but I am a Mormon - do I feel like people do not understand what I believe? Do people crack jokes at my religon? Do some people think I am whack? Yes, yes and yes. Did following the X-Men and identifying with some of the hardships mutants had to face in that fictional world help me? Sure did. But I do not feel that everyone has to feel that being a Mormon HAS to be labled a "mutant" in that sense of the word? Not at all - again, like Rick said its what you identify with.

I am in complete agreement with Remender's tweet... and to those who disagree with me, you can all dive into a pool of hobo piss.

:yay:

I guess there really is no place for maturity in comic books than.

The best thing about Uncanny Avengers has been this conversation. And there are intelligent and thoughtful people on both sides.

Of course there's a place for it. But I don't think calling someone a racist is going to warrant a mature response or a well thought out reply. Personally I would've told those people to go eat a ****.
